I should normally be very happy with this but 2 locations with différent routes makes me think of the awful grid2. Also another game which seems low on content and will probably see similar dlc plan as D2...Wait and see !

The end card of the announcement trailer confirms three seasons of DLC.

Looks amazing. Been wanting a new Grid for years, especially as Autosport was so much fun. 12 locations however doesn't sound like many considering how many different cars will feature. But I guess it's all in the quality not the quantity.

It amazes me how many people straight up don't realize, or don't care, that Codies past two games barring F1 (and maybe even then!) have been utter disasters in terms of fostering any good will between players.

Why would it change with GRID?

Because your right. Most people don't care. It's entirely opinion based so my view is if it follows dirt rally 2 and F1 2018 then I'm very excited. For it.

You're not wrong, and I am a little cautious. From the passage it reads as a return to how things should've been. I would think this would restore some of what was lost. Ah who knows, I need (and want) to see more on this new GRID.

Ok so far no sign of Ravenwest....

A good or bad thing?

Bad because what would the game be without them?

Good because they were a pain to beat. :P

I have been waiting for a new GRID game for many years...

The fourth game in the series, GRID delivers intense wheel to wheel racing action, spanning four continents in some of the world’s most famous city streets and race circuits. Choose cars from GT, Touring, Stock, Muscle, Super-Modified and more, across race types including Circuit, Street Racing, Ovals, Hot Laps, Point-to-Point and World Time Attack.

GRID strikes the perfect balance, offering risk and reward for every type of racer. Handling is incredibly responsive with a learning curve that appeals to both casual arcade gamers through to the core simulation racers. Progression is rewarded through liveries, player cards, team mates, achievements and driving accolades. AI drivers push the player to their limits to earn a place on the podium and ultimate victory in the GRID World Series Championship. Realistic damage can affect both the car’s performance and handling and too much contact with the same racer will see them emerge as a nemesis who will stop at nothing to get their revenge in the race.

Established as one of the best modern-day drivers across F1®, Endurance and Stock Racing, Fernando Alonso has signed as a Race Consultant and appears in-game. Players enter a series of events against some of Alonso’s Esports driving team ‘FA Racing’, across multiple classes of racing before coming face to face with the former World Champion in his infamous Renault R26 F1® car, in a final showdown event.

“GRID as a racing franchise is revered by our community and we are delighted to bring it to the current generation of consoles,” said Chris Smith, GRID Game Director at Codemasters. “The game offers so much variety and depth, from the number of modern and classic cars through to the locations and race options. Renowned for its handling, the game will appeal to all types of player, from casual drivers who want a lean-in challenge, to sim drivers who want some serious fun.

We are also delighted to work alongside Fernando Alonso who is arguably one of the world’s greatest ever drivers. His experience and knowledge has enabled us to make improvements to both the performance and handling of our cars. We could not be more proud to have signed him both in-game and as a Race Consultant. We can’t wait for our players to experience the final version when it comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this September.”

Fernando Alonso added: “Having competed across F1®, Endurance and Stock Racing, GRID is the perfect game for me and I’m delighted the studio has added both myself and my racing team into the game. GRID offers so much variety and I welcome the challenge when players get to line-up against me.”

Take your place in the GRID World Series and fight in thrilling wheel-to-wheel battles with the most iconic and desirable race cars – current and classic, from GT through Touring and Muscle to Stock and Super Modifieds – and in some of the world’s most iconic locations. GRID captures every moment of the race, from the adrenaline rush of lights-out to the elation at the chequered flag – and in-between, it’s all action too.

Incidents come one right after the other – tight overtakes, bumper-to bumper scrapes and competitive collisions – all heightened by rivalries, team-mates and a nemesis driver who will all either try to help or hinder your progress.

I'll add myself to the growing list of people who wants this to recapture the magic of the first title. That first game was legit. And yes, that's a reference.

Unfortunately, given the details we know thus far and how the last Grid (or non-F1 Codemasters in general) game turned out, I have my reservations.

Uh huh.

So announcing support in a game and pushing out a few patches in the proceeding three months before abandoning the game in DiRT 4, saying that the game would straddle the line between sim and arcade (it didn't, it just muddled those lines more then sticking with one or the other) announcing the next title as if people wouldn't forget about the past, making the DLC content plan entirely rehashed 'remastered' rally locations from the first game, with the only new location based content being rallycross, effectively making an online only sim racer and potentially having the career locked out when the game servers go offline, and having the FFB on wheels borked at launch for three months is 'entirely opinion based'. Oh yeah, unrelated, but did I mention Codemasters buying out Evolution, giving them one chance to make a game, and basically killing them dead?

You're not wrong, and I am a little cautious. From the passage it reads as a return to how things should've been.

So did DiRT Rally 2.0 after DiRT 4. I sure as **** won't make that same mistake twice.

also lol the modern Camaro shown off in the screenshots is from DiRT 3 so I can already tell they're reusing content.
