Uh...??? Is anyone else also having an issue with their race re-starting while doing rubberband grinding on Indy??? Since the update if I try to grind, the race simply does not restart, the X1 just simply keeps riding around the track and I must press the PS button and quit and restart game causing me to lose what $ I have acquired!?!?

Why would they fix this glitch... It will prevent people from doing this.

 So everyone else who doesn't rubberband grind but has this happen should suffer just cause 'it will prevent people from doing this'? Petty...

I am testing out my game right now to see if it will still allow me to grind.

Auto grinding Indy (LTW) works for me still.

Though I must admit I'm not totally sure about this, I may suggest you to clear cache from game options. I've experienced a similar problem only in two events (one online, one in expert mode), then reading something about that, I tried cache clearing one and half month ago and then I haven't experienced anymore that problem. Just my personal feeling.

Great idea! I'm going to try that ASAP! Thanks for the tip

Mine's been rubberband grinding since about 10:00 this morning. It's 12:24 now, and it's still working. Up almost 1.5 million credits so far.

I downloaded the latest PS3 system update and the latest (1.08) patch/fix this morning, and the rubberband grind is still definitely working on my system.

I'm running the 10-lap Indy race in the Dreamcar Championship, if that helps. Haven't tried the 5-lapper in Like the Wind.

Mine still works fine after both PS3 and GT5 1.08. I vote with Jools_75. Clear the cache.

delete your game install on your hdd, reinstall your game to the hdd, also works wonders for screen tearing...

Like the Wind is far more lucrative. LTW pays out 140,000 credits for 10 laps whereas Dreamcar pays out 86,600 credits for 10 laps.

That's about 1 million credits per hour (LTW) vs. about 650,000 (DC).

How about the full DCC series? That earns 880k+ in 80 minutes. The last race at Nurb 24h can be skipped if you won the first 4 races. It's what I make Bob do anytime I am home and awake, helps me earn many millions the legit way.

I've never been able to do the rubber band thing....for some reason "enter" doesn't register like it does for everyone else if I keep it pinned down.

oh, shizz, i have the answer!

a feature was added to your PS3 via the PSN update that allows you to set the ammount of time it takes for your controller to auto-off to save the battery.

just turn that controller function off in your XMB.

Yeah, but my controller is too finicky, it seems. I have to set it up just right for LTW, or it rubs the wall TOO much, and instead of winning, the X2010 will come in around 7th-9th place. There seems to be only one tiny sweet spot for the steering joystick on my controller, so it will rub a bit but not lose too much speed.

Because of the "lesser" competition, I have better luck with the DCC race. Far too many times, I've thought I had the setup completely right on LTW, only to check in a couple hours later and find out my X2010 had been nosed into the wall for the last two hours! Never happened on DCC.

Plus, I was only about 1.7mil short of the 20mil cap.

You're right, though - LTW does have the highest payouts per hour for those who can get it set up easily.

Do you have a USB keyboard? That's how mine's set up - DS3 controller with rubberbands on the joysticks (gas and steering), and an old Mac keyboard I had lying around, with a clothespin holding down the "Enter" button - I'm using the Enter button on the number keypad (extended keyboard, with number pad on the right hand side).

Stupid Question: Whats grinding and how do you do it?

M8, grinding is the term used for "grinding money out of the game". In this case, people are referring to B spec, where all you do is basically sit there (or if you play it "right", you coach your driver) and watch the car lap the track and collect the money at the end.

You can also "autogrind" by using some rubber bands in A-spec on Indy, since it's an oval. There are a bunch of threads that go about explaining this. So try searching for some of them. It will sort you out.

--------------------------

That said, to those that are having difficulty setting the steering properly for indy, don't use a rubber band, use a dime. If you wedge the dime between the d-pad and the stick, and press it flat, it gives you nearly perfect setup for indy and the x2010. If you take the time to adjust that (typically less than a mm) I'm able to get my 2010 upto 275 on the straights in a safe autogrind steering setup (you know, so it doesn't spin everytime you smack someones back end).

I recommend.

that glitch has been around since 1.06 I get it now and then hope its fixed in 1.09

How many folks have time to do oval 1000 times if they didnt make it such a massive amount of xp to rank up.
Almost 6 years to make this game and more for the gamer to complete it without grinding most folks would quit this game at 60 percent.

if you want xp do Indy 500 with rubberband...you need to be there to pit every 25 laps...if you want cr to DCC indy wint rubberband...or you can play like me, buy a car & run it from beginner- expert, bring it through all the races it can win, upgrade only when needed. take about 2 days to custom tune a car and set it to favorites. 2 days = 8 hours....

Can you grind on Daytona ??
You would need the Daytona Speedway circuit, not the Daytona road course. I believe the only event you could grind in would be the Nascar event, but you'd come in absolute last place every single time. You'd be much better off doing one of the Indy courses if possible.
Do you need the x2010 to auto-grind?
Not necessarily. You just need a car that will go around the course reliably (without being punted into a wall where it wheelspins until you check on it) collecting xp/cr. You can still come in last place and earn credits/xp. The X2010 pretty much guarantees that you win every race ad infinitum. You can autogrind with the FGT and win for a bit until your oil / engine degrade and you lose HP (you also need to make sure there's no Jag XJR-9 in the field, and that you have a perfect steering angle setup). My main grind vehicle is a Veyron, as it regularly comes in 6th place and is stable enough to let it grind for 3-4 (or even more) days in a row. Not the case with the FGT.
