I have been an avid user of this forum since the release of GT5, with large experience and involvement in the drifting forum. Slowly I have seen multiple sections fall apart due to mods ignoring multiple and irritating threads.

But tonight, my trust in the mods has really dropped.
I started a thread regarding in-race saves in this topic, but after a huge discussion within the thread, and people starting to head towards some form of conclusion, the thread is suddenly closed by a mod!!

I really hope for some form of informative responce from the mod who closed it.

Thanks
Chris.

I find that the report button is a good way to attract a mod's attention without much effort. Just push the yellow triangle and a mod will deal with it. 👍

That thread was going to erupt into a flamewar anyway, not suprised it got closed.

Tried alerting mods, still no response. :s

'Ya Pops'

Nice to see your respect for others is shining through, please dont flame.

That might be a better place for this thread, I think you move threads by editing the first post or something. As for your save thread, there are probably about 100000000000000000 duplicate threads that existed before it. The mods probably locked it for that reason.

Yep

I believe this has been discussed to death elsewhere, multiple times, with the exact same arguments and answers and with less or at least more muted flaminess.

Or perhaps I'm viewing the past with rose-tinted glasses.

So 1.06 didn`t bring option to save game in mid-championship or endurance? Was a particularly long, exhausting and pointless thread.

If you really feel that bad about it, why don't you join the I don't care about mid-race saves club?

Your thread was the same as all the other inrace save threads, if you used the searchbutton you would have known that.

Btw. this is related to gt5?

Buddy, the mod in question not only closed your thread but also pointed out two other threads that show the exact same discussion. You just made a duplicate of an existing discussion and therefore it has been properly closed.

This should be better placed in the Help Desk section. ;)

Hmm, the thread was towards maintaining the 'legtimacy' of the 24hr races, over wanting the saves. Not sure if it has been picked up on before to that level.

VVV Flamer of the month VVV

Oh GOD(frey).

Given the utter ridiculousness of your last thread opening, you're lucky to get this much respect.

Sorry if ths has been covered before, just thought that I maybe could have added something to the cummunity. Turns out maybe not :). Thanks to those who did post and showed respect.

Have to do this:

Mods he's calling you out! Are you going to come!?

Yeah... That's how we do it in our hood.

I didn't agree with his starting position but I was also surprised the thread got closed. Especially since for once the OP read the resulting replies and mellowed his original position and then asked for constructive suggestions.

It seems to me that's something that is rare and should be welcomed on the forums.

In addition I don't think the policy of always adding to an existing thread no matter how many pages or posts are in it is by default a great idea.

How many pages of a thread do people read on average before deciding they have to post whether or not someone may have stated an identical position on a page they never got to?

If you were sincere you would not name your thread with such an aggressive title. People don't know anything about you except what you write, you have to word your opinion in a diplomatic way if you want people to respect you.

You could still add something to the community by posting your thoughts in an existing thread.

Just seen 'Niky's' response on the origional thread.

The thread I posted was within the context of when Kaz maybe soon bringing the feature to the game, and therefore much more relevant. As 'mr-serious' pointed out (ty bud) the thread was actually coming to something interesting, and it's a real shame that one of very few vaguely interesting threads at the moment had to be closed. Tomorrow I'll post in a thread regarding the topic, and just bring that one to the first page, if that makes them happier.

They are locking threads because of the subject not because of the thread. If you do that then you are just asking to get banned. You can't win against the mods.

What people here are saying, is that the issue was there were already threads about the subject, so why should I not continue those old threads with my opinions, as apparently the threads are already there "with the exact same arguments and answers". (quoting Nicky).

God, why is this friendly community such a battleground???

I misunderstood you. If you can find the thread and it is not closed then yes you can bring it to the top but if they have been closed then they don't want anymore started.

I was typing a reply to the other thread when it got locked... I too saw that it was really heading into a good discussion, which is admittedly rare 'round 'ere

I think you may be mistaken here, at least I hope so. My understanding from Nicky's post was that a thread already existed for this discussion & any new (or not so new) thoughts should be posted in that thread.

I would hope threads wouldn't be closed simply because they had already been discussed.

Just my interpretation of course.

Hundereds of threads have 'disucssed' being dissapointed with GT5 or PD, but still they are allowed to remain, it just doesn't make sense!!!

I don't personally agree with the decision to close that thread, but the alternative has been made clear. Simply continue the discussion in the thread pointed to by the mod.

You've already questioned his decision and there's nothing more you can (or should do) You haven't been silenced. Simply asked to continue your discussion in an existing thread.
