So far we know it is going to be avaible for NA market.
What do you think, will Europe get it? Should it?

Not using boyband music?
Is anyone picking this up today in the US? I have a question to anyone who has it:
I'm trying to spare some room on my PS3 hard drive, does this disc in anyway minimize the amount of space taken on the hard drive?
It by no means should reduce the space taken up. It's still the same base GT5 game, but comes with the first two groups of DLC code vouchers.
Well, it isnt just the base game released a year ago. From what I understand, this disc has 2.0 on it. So all the major updates from release until 2.0 should be on the disc. Which should save a couple GB's, right? I could be wrong. I'm running out of space.![]()
I went to Wal Mart and Best Buy in east Texas and neither of them had it. The weird thing is, it's not even on best buys website. I guess we shall see.
Sadly that's a decent point, I how ever don't mind the Jazzy music too much.. But people with a less evasive taste in music have a reason to hate on the elevator tunes..
I had the same issue in Tucson, Az..... No gamestop has it. All they said was that the game was released today and maybe they would have copies by week's end.
So, once again if i have the original game with no updates and i buy the XL spec 2.0 i do not have to delete my game files to load up the new disc?? Everything should merge together??
Just want the clarification.... Sorry i am still confused:-
I see both US edition (XL) and Japan/Asia edition (Spec II) as a retail incentive to gain more sales on both territories and establish a larger potential base for future DLC retail.
When you check the official sales numbers here, you can see the great discrepancy in actual sales of GT5 in US/JP/Asian market and Europe - almost 5 million in EU/PAL and barely 2 million in US/JP/Asia combined.
Reasons for such difference in performance are speculative - history shows how Europe is GT-series strongest base in last 15 years, while decline in overall GT5 sales in US can be pretty much tied to leading position of X360 on US market and influence of the Forza series. In the same time, Japanese and Asian market have never been such strong markets for driving games in general, at least not when compared to EU/US.
Also, some blame for US sales should probably be tied to overall SCEA marketing of GT series in total. From my humble perspective they are just doing it wrong from the very beginning.
To cut long story short, DLC have become an important revenue factor for both Sony and PD in past months, they can track the results of both playtime/sales via their servers/PS Store and this whole *ploy* is probably driven by plan to establish a larger playerbase and also bring back *original purchasers* maybe intimidated by update-stream in the past and non-aware of the current state of the game/DLC program.
Also, Spec II release in Europe can easily be in the pipeline, but SCEE and PD could also be very smart in keeping it silent. If the current sales of GT5 Platinum Edition is fine - and it is known how GT5 often shows up on German/France/Italy Top20 sales charts even today - and DLC sales are going as planned (we can also safely presume how Europe/PAL is buying majority of DLC regularly), announcing Spec II with all DLC included would just hurt the current sales.
This way or another, we'll know soon enough![]()
