Lately it has taken multiple tries to get GT-6 to open with the DS3 buttons working. It opens every time but only the PS button works (to quit game). Buttons work when back at the menu. It takes about 6 tries to get them to work. Had same type of problem once in a while with GT-5, but not with GT-6. Anybody else with this type of thing?

hmmm... what type of PS3 are you using? i know the old fat PS3's can be a bit sketchy when playing GT. does the game do to the main screen and then the buttons fail? if so, the PS3 is just thinking about the login bonus and retrieving game data, and i can take a while sometimes. but if its getting to the point that you have to restart the PS3 because its taking too long, there is probably a more serious problem than that. sorry i cant provide a direct answer. :indiff:

It suggests your controller is assigned as controller 2. Have a look at the lights on the back, or hold down the PS button and look at which red dot is highlighted. If it's #2 select "Controller Settings", "Reassign the Controller" and pick #1.

You don't have a wheel plugged into the first USB port by any chance, do you?

Thanks for the interest Famine. With the problems I'm having I've been opening the game with the DS3 then plug in the wheel when everything works. All that calibrating was driving me nuts. When I started up yesterday my PS3 said it wasn't turned off correctly??? It rebooted itself and the game came up first time no problem. It started fine again this morning so hopefully that was the problem. Time will tell.

Make sure not to have a ds3 on while using a wheel and I honestly would plug in the wheel before turning on the ps3 that way it calibrates properly and when starting the game also. That is suggested in the owners manuals for the wheels, just saying because I have saw some have issues because of that.

This isn't entirely true. I've always used my DS3 alongside my wheel and never had an issue, I've always connected my wheel (G27 since GT5: P) after the game boots up and settles (sometimes even right before a race but NOT during). That seems to me the best way to do it, if you do it before you turn your PS3 on, you'll have to go through 2 calibration cycles. When I'm done, I unplug the USB cord then shut down system.

I'm not saying your wrong just that I've been doing this method for around 5 years with the exact wheel (original) and never had an issue.

I encountered the same issue yesterday, and a month ago too... it wasnt the first time either...

It seems a couple of times a month for me.

Let me explain how:

1) i do not have the wheels connected at all.
2) i only use one DS3
3) start PS3
4) wait for login onto PSN
5) start GT6
6) once opened, i start fiddling with the DS3 joystick to move about the main menu... or just wait for the Daily Bonus message to show up in order to clear it before doing anything...
7) i think it usually freeze or is stuck in an eternal loop when i try to access the online Special Event...

I see the PS3 think... but i keep on waitng for several minutes to go,but stuck on the main menu.. i cannot cancel or push any button, except for the PS to exit Gt6

...

I am always afraid i might damage either the GT6 file or worst corrupt my fatty...

After a few days with no problems GT-6 opened today with no button control. Looked at the DS3 and sure enough it was assigned to #2. Changed to #1 and everything worked fine. Thanks Famine
