Yes excellent read! :) Thanks Maz!

As for GT Academy, missed one day pretty much and my consistency went down the pan :(, going to have to really try hard today to get back on track.

I haven't touched it since the 5th of this month. I had intended on leaving it for a while, as I kind of know where my limits are and if I can do those times on the board - I will and if I can't, I won't waste my time trying.

But I've now had a couple of cans, so I've decided what better thing to do, than try and beat my previous drunken best :)

Really Really intresting interview, thanks to find it and post it here, hope it will make me shave 1 more second

A second would be nice.:)

Great post, thanks Maz:tup:. Its great to get some feedback from the guys who have done it.

What Lucas says about how not to screw the final sector on a fast lap is something I hope to apply. I either mess up from the pressure or go too cautiously through the final turn/s.

I'm still improving in every session though so I'm quite happy about that. Really starting to enjoy the track now too. 👍

Picked up another .250 this afternoon :D Can see at least another .2-3.. Was on for a low 17.1 a little while ago but I had a wobbler in the final turn

Great laps people!! 👍

Netherlands pole is a joke compared with all the others... the best time is from a Pad Oo

Excellent finish to today can finally see my 16.9 again, although not done it yet :P. Finished on a 17.4 :D. But I'm back in the top 10 and back up to speed which was my main aim of today :).

Nice improvement man! I won't get to play again until sometime on Sunday. I guess it's good to have a break, but hopefully I won't be bumped too far down. It's going to get really competitive soon!

I belive i can do it, it won't be easy, and it won't make a garantee at the finals, but what other options do i have beside practice a lot? i am improving fast, .500 each day so its not impossible to shave one more second, but who knows, i just want to keep up with the fastest guys, they are driving insanely.

.402 6 in UK pretty happy with that time now on pad & everything off, haven't really explored the driving aids but almost everybody above me in EU is using active steering, think ill try get another 0.050-0.1 on next attempt and call that it for a few weeks. Hopefully get a G27 and get the practice in for the last week or 2 maybe for a high 2'16.
Superb lap from lars to get a low 2'16.8!:ouch:

I have to say a huge thank you to Tidgney, I was hitting a brick wall at 2;20;7 and couldnt improve to save my life, thought that was my limit! Watching your video and one hour later im at a 2;19;7 and 166th in the UK!

Delighted :)

Any luck GTP_DHolland btw on getting a go at the Academy? I know a friend who has a british account and managed to have a go, he's in Canada.

Waiting on a wheel to arrive, should be up and running mid to late next week:tup:

I definitely better get pushing then :P. I'll be streaming all my attempts from now on :).

Hey man, i was watching ur stream earlier, it was great craic, and then i fell asleep for a while.

So I gave this a quick go tonight. Told myself I wasn't going to, but I did anyway. Given that I'm one of the 32 finalists headed to Orlando in a week and a half for the US Academy, I just wanted to see how I stand against everyone else. Spent a good 45 minutes on the track and managed a 68th overall time. (2:19.733) Good enough for 1st place amongst my friends but +1.538.

I don't envy you guys with this track, I hate it the most of all the created ones they've made so far.

Just a heads-up for anyone interested in some expert advice from those who have succeeded before, gran-turismo.com have uploaded my interviews with previous Academy winners Lucas Ordonez and Jordan Tresson from last week on their website:

- (10/03/11) [GRAN-TURISMO.COM] Q&A with previous winners Lucas Ordoñez and Jordan Tresson

...as well as the "Play Like A Pro" feature I wrote based on their interview responses here:

- (10/03/11) [GRAN-TURISMO.COM] GT Academy: Play Like A Pro!

The interview transcripts are Sony's own edits, my version of the edits should appear on the GT Academy Facebook not too long from now.

It was really heartening to see how much time Lucas and Jordan both still had for me and the community despite being bona fide racing drivers now. 👍

I've added both links to the GT Academy News and Announcements thread on this forum along with the other articles I've done so far on their behalf:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=182996#post4930264

Play Like A Pro and Lucas interview now also on Facebook:

- (12/03/11) [FACEBOOK] GT Academy: Play Like A Pro!

- (12/03/11) [FACEBOOK] Q&A with previous winners Lucas Ordoñez

Adding to news and announcements, Racing Line post, now.

All the best
Maz

Great glad it helped! :). Your very welcome :).

@ Private hehe ye it can get a bit boring watching someone go round and round but I just stream in case anyone is after some ideas perhaps or watching me try different approaches :P.

Ill update later on with times today, I'm rather tired today so might not improve on my time but I'll still give it a few goes :).

edit: Updated times on live stream, I've also heard the tutorial has helped people quite a lot (So time spent making it was well worth it (Also making me late for Uni on the Thursday :P)), I have changed my lines slightly on 2 corners since, but generally the tutorial still should give you a Low 17 time :).

How can you finish on a lap so close to your best! you were just getting in the zone!!

I know :P, but I'm saving my self for later, I kinda do it everyday lol. Normally only do 25 laps as a norm. But a bit of red bull to wake me up and knowing where my speed is at the moment I should improve later :D.

Spent a good few hours this afternoon on and off running laps.. Ran a few .4's again.. a truck load of .5's, Felt like a better lap was about to pop any min, but nope.. Still a long while left as yet :)

Awww man I got so excited in my last stint, I had one of my fastest ever first sectors and nearly second sector and then failed on last bit :(. Then on the 25th lap about to improve time ahead of my ghost by about 0.060ish and make the silly mistake of missing the gear change :(.

Can't actually wait for my 50 lap stint :), I sense sub 17 today for some reason, lets hope I can do it! :D.

Really^^? when your best lap so far is 0.5 off?
Well we can all wish i guess:)

I see the sectors to make it but puting together on a pad for me id say would be equilevant to Lars get a 2'16.5, doable but extremly unlikely.

Just took 2 tenths off my best :D, first improvement in 5 days, partly due to my housemates rocking out all f*ing day.

I understand where your coming from but I honestly feel extremely quick today and the sectors I've been putting in on some of my laps are the best I've done usually i put in 1 exceptional sector in a stint but I've been doing some very good sectors :).

But you never know I could totally fail in my last stint of the day in a bit who knows :).

And I'm one for doing the Unlikely ;).

been making steady progress all week. stopped couple hours ago when i got my .2 tenths for the day to go up to 72 or 73 as it is now. Felt I could go faster but stopped because of a planned night out which has now got delayed. doubt i will be competitive tomorrow, i get the worst hangovers.

I duno what my target is.. this is prolly as good as it gets for me.. but i'll keep trying. It's interesting to read that the spanish winner of '08 said he was 3-4 seconds off the leaders at first and then a couple weeks later he got nearer and by the end he was at the lead. So he wasn't a natural fast track learner like GTdrivers_moose.

I feel this competition should be shorter in longevity. Afterall, surely they want natural talents, but by the end of the 6 weeks even I could be within a second of the best! Everyone will eventually catch up... isnt that how it works? anyway all the best everyone, i've got a buzz on.

No.

Yeah, I just thought I'd pop in here and say thanks for doing that. I have your tutorial running on my laptop at the side to try and improve my times. It's definitely helping me to be more consistent. Thanks man :)
