Great to see that they have given Lucas an LMP2 ride this year!

Absolutely, not only will he get to do the LM24hr but also Sebring, Petit LM and Spa 1000km. I'll get something up on the news and announcements thread as soon as I'm home this evening 👍

All the best
Maz

To be fair I think people are forgetting the reason for the academy here and thinking of themselves. The whole point was to find someone from the game, from the simulation not find people who have time in a kart or time racing single seaters.
So many people got through by luck last year and so much talent got lost in the format that left so much open to changeable circumstances beyond others control.
I tripped myself up being a bit cocky in my second race trying to build a gap because I was doing so well and just happened to let Alex Ingram through otherwise he'd not have made it. I knew I'd already qualified so I wasn't bothered and then if it wasn't for the huge slipstream at Daytona I would've been out on my own again like at my first race.
Alex did well to get through but more luck than anything, I too was extremely lucky with 3rd place,I found myself in positions where I could just drive. There were many other players at least as good as me and Alex that got rammed off along straights like Beanee and at the banking at HSR like Ed

So the point is there is a lot of talent out there and I'm not talking about me here there's talent that hasn't been unlocked and yes let's see some new faces at Silverstone.

I think we've all got a hard-luck story or two from last year's national final (+0.000s :ouch:) but none of us can deny how good an event it was

All the best
Maz

In a competition like this the drivers are all so close together in terms of speed your going need some luck along the way. I myself got hit off twice at Indy at first corner on first lap. I sat feeling sorry for myself but realised I never expected to even reach the national final and i should just enjoy the experience as it might never happen again. If I had off went there only to win I don't think I would of enjoyed myself and taking the whole experience in.

What Lucas and Jordan have achieved is incredible and goes to show what can be achieved just from an interest in a game! For 1 of us the same could just be around the corner...

Yes Maz it was a great event, that was the thing for me, the first person to miss out is the person you'd think would be the grumpy one not happy with the format and blaming everyone for this that and the other. To be honest I recognised how so many other players could've scrabbled past me like Alex did or I could've been rammed off like others were. It was a such a fun day and a real challenge at a really high level of tension there was so many positives to so little negatives.

Going to give this a good go this year I think, saying that I am probably going to be aiming for the top 100 or so.

Top 250 would be great for me. As long as I make it onto the leaderboard (There's only 260 on the seasonal TT)

Ooh David, judging by some of your comments, one could get the impression that I have no talent at all ;)

Any of the national finalists, whether they qualify first or twentieth, will be thoroughly deserving of a chance to compete at Silverstone, and can approach the competition with the belief that they stand as much chance as anyone else. Luck will be a factor necessary to succeed, but patience and a cool head matter at least as much. To reach the national finals alone is a huge achievement to be proud of, any progression beyond that is delicious gravy.

PS: Anybody else got an invitation to the national finals to give some mediainterviews and tips to the finalists?

Yes, I have received an invite too, so at least I'm confident of reaching the national finals this year!

All the best to everyone competing, and have fun (I know you will, you lucky sods!)

Alex

You have lots of talent Alex why would you ever think I would doubt that ? I really enjoy competing against you. I'm just putting of few of your comments into perspective that's all from my angle. I drove terrible in race one and there's was no-one in sight behind me, you were in that race. Race 2 everyone vanished too I was on my own again, I kept the lead from pole even after the first banking at HSR somehow and the field re-appeared when I tried to drift through the tunnel and your qualifying time from Daytona was due to my slipstream that put you in pole for the next race at Fuji and out of the chaos that I was due to my clean air laps at the front in Daytona.
Reality check that's all mate ;) Your result was very good but there was many other innocent victims of barging and close racing spoiling a good laptime for their next race.
From what I saw of John he had the ability to fend off any scrapping and hold station really well. Circumstances had the biggest say in all of it and I can imagine in a tournament like that we could've just as easily finished 19th & 20th with the same level of driving.

With slipstream like that you can't judge the skills at all, there's people 2 seconds slower a lap sat right behind people in all the country's finals.

Anyway its all in the past now it should be really interesting to see if they go a completely different way with the finals this time.

Il concorso "GT Academy 2011" in Italia comincerà alle ore 08.00 (GMT) del giorno 18 Marzo 2011.

Per favore provate di nuovo dopo la data d'inizio.

Why in Italy GT Academy is delayed to March the 18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else have trouble in opening the time trial? I registered online using my GTP_HiSpeeder account which I use for GT5, received the confirmation mail, reset my PS3 and started GT5 and went to the GT Academy Time Trial, only to get a message saying that I still need to register to take part. There are some times in the leaderboard already, so it should work
