His is ridiculous. I have never once in my gt5 career ever not been able to get gold. Got gold on every round before this 1st try with ease. 8/5 is freakin imposable. I've seen some YouTube videos of people doing it but I can't get close. My best time is 1:37:422 I have retried it last 3 days prolly 1 thousand times.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I recommend you setting the TCS at 1, ABS at 1 and driving line on, and everything else off, this is the only way that actually worked for me to get the gold
My best time is around 1:35.289
you can do it!

8-5 is far from impossible. It just takes a little finesse; you can't simply "point and squirt" with this 370z on this track.

Yeah, is and FR, you can't go from 100% brake to 100% acceleration, that will make you powerslide, and you will lose a lot of time

I'll try this right now.

Lol. Point and squirt. :)

Updated track time 1:37.308

Load up the ghost of the fastest driver in your region and follow it !! I had a quick go the other night for about an hour and got a 1:32.7 so don't give up. Telling yourself that you can't do it is an easy way to fail, keep positive. If the fastest ghost is to fast try one further down the list.

I have bud. I'm a good driver. No matter what I do I can't get gold.
Keep trying, just take a few laps like you are taking your grandmother on a Sunday drive. Then gradually add speed as you become comfortable with the track and corners.

If you can't gold this challenge i can't imagine how did you golded the vettel one. xD

I had a hard time getting gold too. The best thing to do is to not take the corners too fast, stay on the apex and definitely use manual if you aren't already. I got 1:35.241

Can't get past 1:34.350. Turns 2, 3, 4 & 5 drive slower as expected after turn 2 keep it around 100-108 kph 60-62 mph and slam it at turn 4,5 to get as fast as possible on to the straight. Without losing grip offcourse

Then stop doing what you're doing. Slow down. Take it easy. Brake early. Don't floor the throttle until your front wheels are straight.

A nice easy lap is a nice easy gold.

Use manual transmission and don't downshift below 3rd gear.
Ease the acceleration in after each apex. You shouldn't be using full acceleration until the car is going straight.

All the time is the first chicane section (turns 2, 3, 4, 5) Take the second and third turns slow (60mph ish) to set up for four and five. Change up to fourth gear way early and hold 3/4 throttle until you are on the straight.

Practice that and you should manage gold pretty comfortably.

I think the old axiom "Sometimes you have to slow down to go faster" rings true here. I think there are a couple 100K people who would dis-agree with you on the possibilities. I am far from the fastest GT driver, but I got a gold :)

Will do. I've tried that before but I'll keep in it.

Ok. Will do.

Vettel gold wasn't bad. Controller sensitivity and *wala* gold.

I'm using auto because once I'm off work I'm exhausted. But I'll try to stay on manual. Thanks for input.

Yeah I've been rushing into my turns for sure. Need to lay back a bit.

A couple 100 thousand? I find that hard to believe because I'm in silver right now and there are only 10k people in front of me. So.... Yea.

I don't know where you are getting your stats, but the first time I got gold there were 80K in front of me and that is just in my region of the US!

Well...i dont undestand how you've golded suzuka so easily and have so much problems doing a 1:36 lap on 8-5... I have silver on suzuka and did a sub 34 lap in my fist atemptts and i am now at 1:32:0XX :/

Good luck though... ;)

I started this last Thursday night (the 14th) and with a lap of 2:27 there were only 86,000 people ahead of me worldwide, less than 10,000 in my USA local region. Gold by 4 tenths was good enough for 3,363 local and 31,063 worldwide. I'm sure more have run it since then but it was already old news at that time. Unless you're in another US region with WAY more people in it or everyone waited a week I think you might have had the rankings switched.

It'd be interesting to check, but I'd be somewhat surprised if there are more than 200,000 with gold even worldwide(or 50,000 local) based on that. Most people do stuff when it's new.

Possible, but I was sure I was ranked 82xxx and read somewhere that 8-5 rankings were regional. Either could be mistaken, I will have to check this evening after work :)

You can view both your regional and worldwide rank.

Someone posted a couple of days ago that after setting a lap at 8 minutes or so he was ranked around 100,000.

Do you know if you can check this by computer or do you have to log in on your console through the GTA game?

wtf

If that its true, 90% of GT Academy players / entries were Minesweeper players. :yuck:

Im telling you. Last night I got said posted time and said I was 10,xxx in my region. Made me believe that not many people are doing good on 8-5.

Maybe it's for my region or something.

By no mean is this impossible. I suck and yet have golded this. But there's one trick I learned from the ghosts of the top guys that helps, and that's that turn 1 takes an early turn-in, significantly earlier than one might think. You'll be carrying a lot of slip angle to the apex but the idea is to get the thing pivoted quickly so you can get back on the gas quickly.

Then you have to concentrate on not bleeding too much speed in the following chicanes -- do it right, and you can nearly straight-line the second set of turns.

The second big left on the back side of the course requires heavy braking before you turn in, heavier than does the first left. They look similar but aren't. I lost a lot of time there until I acknowledged the difference.

Another trick, good for getting gold but not moving up the leaderboard, is just to go a bit deeper into all the big, 90-degree-plus turns before initiating the change of direction and then making sure the change happens very fast.

I had a hard time too. The key is smooth driving all the way and remember to keep to the driving line for maximum driving speed.

Also, when you brake as you approach a bend, when you start to turn your steering, slight acceleration will kick the back out and help your car turn into the corner.

This made taking a corner quicker for me at least.

A perfect example of different techniques working for different driving styles. I take a very late turn in to turn one so my angle coming out is shallow which allows to get on the gas harder & sooner. Overall I found my best laps to be very smooth runs while avoiding at all cost abrupt movements. Since we both have gold I guess it is just what suits an individuals style best works for that individual :)
