At the Regulations screen, the most left button, is that a damaged car icon? (like for setting damage in a race on/off)

I was gutted I had a coming together with FARKyeah on the kink on the main straight at Tokyo on the second lap, If that hadn't have happened, I was looking good to win that race and that would have prevented you from going through to the Semis TiZzla.But then again,I think I had bad and good luck in equal measure, so never the less you definately deserve to win mate. Really hoping you go hard and kick arse at Silverstone!

What a day though, still buzzing from it. Was great to meet you all, hopefully they do it again next year and we all back again lol!

So what can people make out of the icons in that GUI photo?

Event Settings:

Lock = Unknown
Chequered Flag = Number of laps
Flag = Racing Flags? (Photo shows None)
Unknown = Unknown
Unknown = Unknown
Person? = Number of people connected to server? Maybe 1 spectator / server?
Helmet = Number of racers?

Regulations:

Unknown = Unknown (Perhaps this is a car choice?)
Large Circle Small Circle = Drivetrain (Photo shows FR)
Unknown = Unknown
PP = Max Point Value of car
PS = Max Power
Weight = Min Weight
Steering Wheel = Professional or Standard?
Tyre = Tyres

So was there rubber banding taking place in the race, it sounds very unlikely to me that people would be able to catch up after spinning out?

I apologize if this has already been brought up but I do not see any regional qualifiers for the United States and from what I have read on the GT Time Attack website the winners get an all expenses paid trip to Indy but it mentioned no where that the winner would represent the United States in the GT Academy. Is there a regional qualifier for the United States or is this region excluded from the GT Academy?

No. GT Academy was run in a number of countries in Europe, in NZ and in Australia. The time trial competition on US is not a part of GT Academy

Excluded I'm afraid but you get to watch cars driving round in a circle for hours on end so it aint all bad :)

Bummer :[, maybe Kaz will let us have a run at it sometime in the future.

You need to talk to SCEA (Sony America) about that, SCEE (Sony Europe) is running the GT Academy and because of this only SCEE regions can enter (Australia and New Zealand is in SCEE territory). SCEE decided to run the Indy competition and SCEJ (Sony Japan, Kaz's territory) is running a seperate competion for various prizes.

Just had a phone call saying that due to peole who are ineligable, I am now being offered a place at the UK final.

I'm waiting for a call back now but it looks like I might not to be allowed to compete due to my previous drifting experience.

I've got my fingers crossed, but if not, oh well. I'm glad I at least got into the top 20 who were eligible in the first place.

I'll post again when I know the outcome. :)

Don't see why that would matter since in the new video, I think DHOLLAND, said he had previous experience with v8 supercars. He qualified and is going to silverstone so I don't see why you wouldn't.

Yeah we got the shaft. Which is a shame, because we had a few drivers that could have represented us very well. I could have since I believe I'm a better driver in a real car than I am in a video game, but it doesn't work that way for GT Academy. :sly:

What's that supposed to mean? :crazy:

I'm hoping with every bone in my body that you are right :)

No no.... that was in reference to a drive day at a circuit here in Australia. No racing licenses are required for that over here.

As for not being eligible for competition due to previous drifting experience......... i wouldn't think that drifting required any form of competition license???

yeah we hung around for what seemed likes hours, waiting for you to close the f'in boot or something ? And it looks like you got maybe two decent laps in, then it went slow on you. That Nissan guy was trying to sell us the cars earlier in the day, but not a great advertisment of his product.!
The car did look good though I thought, the attitude of it, minimal body roll, looking quite planted. We were giving plenty of woo hoo's from the balconies 👍 Could you feel ANY correlation between the real car and the game car in the short time you had in it ?

Yea the boot wouldn't shut properly and we thought that might be why it kept cutting out as there was a warning light on because of it. All the exciting stuff happend on the other side of the track.

As for the game vs the real thing - Theres no way to compare the sense of speed and the way you get thrown around by the g forces, but the handling did feel very similar. The back end would step out alot easier though :lol:

Imagine how i felt when they were mucking around with the car after Jhonny drove it! I just wanted to drive the damn thing :lol:

why NZ winner had a go in a real car and AUS didnt!? sony should take care of these events together and dont leave the countries do things by their own... of course everyone should have a shot in the car before silverstone but i guess DHolland didnt.. not really fair...

Yea they all have rules to follow but as for the events entertainment and extra activities it's all up to the independant sony people from each country.

I forgot to mention i visited the NZ sony office twice, and it looked similar to the polyphony digital studios! (smaller of course) but heaps of cool displays and endless amounts of sony products everywhere. Very professional company 👍

That drifting expierience should not hinder your elegibility for the competition like osrg said,as there is no racing license required for that. Unless you have a cams license??

Apologies for what must be a silly question, I must have missed this information in all the excitement :(

Were the races in the normal car all on N3 tyres, and all tuned car races on R1s?

All the best

Yea it was exactly the same cars + set-ups 👍

Nothing felt the same though, the only way i could reccomend practicing racing in those conditions is get everyone you know to come round and watch you. And get 2-3 cameras in your face. Oh and make sure its so hot that theres sweat dripping off your face :lol:

One more thing, how respectful were the racers when it came to the runoff areas at Fuji, were people getting penalties or were they being abused? Were people weaving on straights to lose draft as well?

All the best
