The car wash actually does do something. I noticed that these large gray spots appeared on my Toyota GT One after so long and were there every race after. I could see them when I went to the GT Auto, performed a car wash and they disappeared. The car was noticeably shinier as well.

SHIRAKAWA Akira posted a pic of his Furai all minged up at the start of a race, where he'd not washed it for many many endurance races. The accumulation at the end of the race is "scaled" to a much lower value once you get "home". So basically, you have to get your car filthy multiple times (without washing it) before the dirt is visibly "permanent".

EDIT:
Here's proof. Look at this Mazda Furai Concept:

Never washed, these are the results after about 1300 Km of races on road tracks, including hour-long ones.
The car never went to dirt tracks (actually I'm not even sure it can).
It takes much time for dirt to visibly accumulate, it seems.

There's a bug, though: in the Garage the car looks perfectly clean and waxed, however during races and in GT Auto screens, it clearly looks dirty. I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature to surprise people when they realise that their car is dirty.

Has anybody else managed to bring their car in similar conditions?

All I did was search :)

I think they car too much for a car wash. ;) For that price, you would EXPECT to see Sumbrownkid's GT bikini girls.

That's during the race, cars do get damaged and dirty during the race, after the race the car cleans and repairs itself.
It's been proven over and over again, all you have to do is search ;)

Did you read the part where he says the car looks new in garage, and that the effects of long driving are only noticeable in the race and GT Auto? This would explain why I didn't notice until I saw my GT One in the GT Auto screen.

Please re-read my post. I know that's during the race. I stated as such.

What you missed is that it takes many kilometres (in excess of 1300) before the dirt is visibly permanent after the race - i.e. once you get "home". That's a photomode shot, which, as I'm sure you know, can only be taken during a race...

Dirt on cars seems to have several bugs to me.

- It doesn't build up any more over a certain amount.
- Most of the dirt a car accumulates during a race is not retained (especially in dirt/rally races).
- Cars in the garage always look perfectly clean. They look dirty in the demo mode, GT Auto and races.
- It appears there are some bugs in how dirt accumulates especially on certain cars (Mazda Furai for example), with strange dirt spots that don't make sense.
- Dirt is never too much opaque or covering. Light reflects on it to a certain extent. It seems translucent.
- In general dirt accumulation seems too slow.

Take this into account before offering any of your "proof".
