I'm not sure if this idea was already submitted but a search using the word "bugs" didn't show anything relevant. Sorry if I should've looked better and this has been covered.

Recently I completed the A-Spec 24 Hours of Nurburgring, and I noticed two bugs I think PD should be aware of. Both, I guess, are recent because linked to the new "midrace save" feature given to us with Spec II.

They are these:
1 - Best lap is given a wrong lap number (from the last lap before game being resumed, and not from the actual lap when said "best" was achieved)

2 - After 24 hours and about 5 or 6 saves (not sure) there's a slight gap between the total race time displayed (top-right of the screen) and the "time remaining" display that shows up in the last hour of the race (bottom-right of the screen).

The first bug can be seen (but not proven) with my video. I can tell you that lap number is NOT the actual best lap number. The other bug is unquestionably proven by the video, no need to compare numbers, just go directly to 7:05 into the video and you'll understand.

Now, why am I writing this in the Help desk forum? Because I think gtplanet could provide PD, within the Feedback section, or in any other way, a proper and well organized feedback about bugs. I do mean clear bugs, preferably with testing and evidence to support, and not whiny complaints about cardboard trees ;)

A few years ago I was beta tester for Supercar Challenge and of course I had a bug report to fill privately whenever I found anything. And we had a beta-only forum where bugs would also be discussed between testers and devs.

But the devs (eutechnyx) also kept a "Bugs" subforum open even after the game was released, so they could hear from the public and although it was sometimes a mess of complaints or supposed bugs not backed up by any evidence or never found to be true (when replication was tried), the truth is that sometimes something worthy of notice would show up.

What I'm getting at is this: I think that the "feedback" section of gtplanet could also be used to do some bug reporting to PD (because the listen, that much we know). Of course, to be handled with care (threads about bugs in the forums usually degenerate in wars of accusations of "fanboyism" and "trollism") and probably to work like this:

1 - gtplanet user submits bug found. With or without supporting evidence.

2 - Staff (or Jordan alone) evaluates the submission.

3. a) - Bug is dismissed as unproven or impossible to replicate -> not published.

3. b) - Bug is found to be proven and or possible to replicate. -> published in a dedicated site page, only to be removed when solved by a patch or game update.

That's an interesting idea, though, as you noted, it would take quite a bit of curation to be really useful (and Polyphony Digital likely already has most bugs documented). I'll be thinking about different ways something like this could be organized.

Yeah, it is a great idea. Would be easier for PD to find out about bugs they may not have already known about. :)

Great idea, Like beta testing. Hopefully something alongs these lines would eliminate all the whinging glitch threads.
