Heeellow, I am playing this when I am done with this post. ;)
I didn't buy it. My friend gave it to me today as a birthday gift. You see the selection menu is totally different from GT3 A-Spec

Damn That Looks Confusing....Any Idea When Its Due For America?

That looks very cool lets just hope they stick with it for the American and PAL versions.

Ok, after playing it an hour, I have to say something here before I sleep....it's 3:28am in the morning......
I am glad I didn't want to buy it the first time. It's a ripoff.
I got 10 licenses gold in 10 tracks.......5 different tracks in fact (3 race courses and 2 offroad courses). The other 5 are reverse of the first 5. I was already 50% complete of the game. And I had 20 prize cars, one extra present (mini car) out of the four hidden presents. So I asked myself, where the hell are other cars and tracks? Well, the answer came out after I raced another 2 in professional courses. There are no dealers. The 10 tracks are total number of tracks. Then I am at 59% completed. Yes, only after an hour. There are a few new or concept cars but there are alot missing from GT3 A-Spec. There are 2 concept offroad SUVs, Suzuki GSX, Soarer, Skyline 300GT, Z race car, RX-8 race car, and some other mini concept cars. Unless you are a die hard GT fans, it's not worth it.

It's still GT. Since most of us here have a unique love for GT, we still want the game.
Excuse me if I misspoken for the entire group by saying "Most" The proper word would be "All"

So, how's the RX-8, and the Atenzza? If you don't want it, I'll give you $10 +shipping and buy it from you......what do ya say?

I'm a big GT fan, with GT1, GT2, and GT3, and many demos of all of them.

How much you want for GT Concept? I'm not kidding, I really want this.

i just found out more about the GT concept. I think it is meant to be before GT3 A-spec. because after all the licenses and races are completed in GT concept, it gives you a 1,000,000,000 yen GT3 save.
But I have already completed GT3 and got all possible prize cars.
I also found out the GT concept is alot cheaper in price too. About half of GT3.

I don't think I will sell the game though. Remember? it's a gift. But if any of you want to buy the game, I am sure there are sites that carry this game. If not, I can probably get it from the store brand new and UPS to you.

I am a fan of GT. I have GT1 (US and Japanese versions), GT2 (US and Japanese versions), GT3 (Japanese version), and the GT concept. I am not against GT. I am just saying GT concept is only a quarter of the other GT games. Don't expect a lot from it.

How much in the store? Like $25? How much for UPS? I checked on Ebay, and they had on going for 32somthing, plus shipping. I'm pretty bored with GT3 right now, so this would keep me occupied.

Can you tell me how much?

Before I Waste Money On This Do You Need A Mod Chip To Play Japan Versions On The Amreican PS2?

I doubt it. If it does need a mod chip, count me out, I'm not going to open my PS2 up and ruin something..........but if it's just snap in.............

I really don't have a clue. At the corner of the box it said "NTSC", "J". what do yours say on the American version. I asume "NTSC" is for USA and "PAL" is for British.

The store goes from $25 to $30. Shipping, I don't know. I tried once shipping an A4/Letter size package UPS 2 days express to P.R. and costed around $25.

You cannot EASILY play JPN Imports on US machines. There aren't any chips that can be installed without any headaches that will direct boot original import games. There are some out there but they require you to have a certain model number of PS2, ADVANCED soldering skills that require you to solder up to 30+ solder points.

At this time... its NOT worth it to crack open your ps2 and fumble with solder and wires on chips that still need further dev time.

If you must learn about PS2 chips and get a headache looking at the wiring schematics and screw up your machine trying a 44 wire mod..... then search google for the following terms and do your research...
Messiah, Neo 4, Origa , Elvis chip.

Don't expect GT Concept to be another GT3 Aspec. Its really just to keep GT fans occupied with some extra cars and one extra track.

Its focus is more to attract Japanese gamers who don't own GT3Aspec to try the game at a lower cost and to go out and buy GT3Aspec. AND also to give dedicated GT3 fans a little something extra for a lower price.

A US release... maybe...but more likely with US prototypes and dreamcars.... It would make more marketing sense....but not gaming sense.IMHO.

I'd like to have it anyway. If it says NTSC, it's compatable with the US PS2. I'd still like to know the price please......

Wrong....
NTSC is just the VIDEO format. PS2's have region lockout for Japan/US/EUROPE/Australia. It won't boot on your PS2.

Are you sure though? Has it been tested? I'd really like to play GTC anyway. It's DVD format right? I'm not arguing with you Skunkwerx, I just want other's opinions. I might E-Mail Sony about it, I have to E-Mail them about the GT3 contest anyway.

Mazkid..

Not arguing with you either... :)

However... you can believe me or spin your wheels and waste money on a disc that you cannot boot on your US Ps2.

As stated in my post (3 up). You cannot direct boot a Import (Japanese) game without numerous modifications to your system.

The choice is yours.... I'm not posting to this thread any longer.

Alright, I give up. I just though if there was any chance, but as you've said, there's not. And also I would be sending money to someone I don't know, and then, as you said, if it doesn't work, I'm stuck.

I'll wait for a US version or GT4.

He is probably right. DVD has region codes. USA is 1 and Asia is 5 I think. DVD players with locked code chips cannot read DVD disc from other regions. Good thing my DVD player can read all codes so I have forgotten about it.
Here in my town, alot of people mod their PS2 to read all codes, all regions, and illegal copies of DVD games. I have never played a US version of GT3 so I can't tell you if it's possible for you guys in US to read the Japanese version. My PS2 is original and I don't know want you have to do to make it all codes.
So my guess is if you really want the pleasure of owning the GTC, why not pickup the GT3 A-Spec Japanese version as well. It has the Diablo built-in....:D

Oh, one more thing. In GTC, you cannot do the following things:
Buy cars
Sell cars
Buy tuning accessories
Change oil
Wash cars

61 cars are the total number of cars you can have. Different colors are provided in some models. At Single Race, the screen of Normal/Professional groups selection, Press L1 and R1 together to get an extra Ace group.......still not nearly as hard as in getting a Gold S-license in GT3.
Tracks are Mid-field, Tokyo, Autumn Ring, Tahiti Maze, and Swiss Alps.
Anyway, you get the idea.

The following may worth a buck each.
Car by Toyota and Sony called Pod has a neon glow tail and face. It glows differently when hit or pass (sleepy, angry, sad, and happy just like the cyber dog).
Car by Honda called DualNote has a electricity bar that turns blue and grows when not applying gas, turns red and shrinks when pressing gas pedal.
Nissan GT-R concept, you can see the tail rises when you go from a dead stop.
Suzuki GSX-R/4, you can see the driver holding the steering wheel.
