GT Cup Gr.4 races

I'm new to this game and have been getting through it and have now come to the Gr.4 Cup. So I buy myself a Huracan Gr.4 and go to the High Speed Ring race. I don't modify the car at all, not even a paint job. Enter the race and it says due to something called BoP my car is now going to be 234BHP rather than it's usual 404BHP and that some weight has been added. Fair enough I think, the other cars will have the same penalties too. No, the moment the race starts they all zoom off into the distance I don;'t have the power to keep up with them. Now I admit, I'm not the best driver out there but I know my styuff and I don't hit the walls, I coast some corners rather than braking, I brake correctly when needed to and I apex most corners without incident. Yet I can't even gain ground on the car in front who just keeps pulling away.

Why does the game gimp my Lamborghini to the BHP of a Civic and make it weigh nigh on the same as a Veyron?
 
Gr.4 has always been a pain to balance because of wider range of drivetrains.

The Huracan was once a META. So does the Atenza, Veyron, and for a brief period, the GT-R.

4WD physics in GT7 are ridiculous, as they can corner with little to no repercussions expected from that drivetrain. That massive nerf makes a lot of sense because of that.

Also add the fact that there are certain cars in that class that are rather questionable (a.k.a. the Megane Trophy)
