So in open lobby, i am waiting for the list of rooms to generate, and then it freezes, well sort of. the time still works, the rest of the ps3 still works (ps button all the other stuff) but the rooms just don't load up and i can't move the cursor and everything is frozen. i will try to quit game and start it back up again, but when i click quit game, the ps3 beeps three times then restarts. what is this? is this a faulty ps3?? what is the problem here?

sounds liek the exact same kind of freeze i get sometimes when black ops is loading a map in online multi. game freeze (sometimes with sound) and if i quit it just restarts. I think the game it actually just frozen thats why the ps3 restarts cuz it not responding (the game). My ps3 is a year old and it does nothing else besiseds this....its been pereft so issues thank god. I feel the slims are much much better, not just cuz they use 40%+ less power than the fats.

I have not had that problem with gran turismo 5

i have had gt5 freeze once on me... i have a feeling it was due to a networking issue as once I restared i happed to go to my computer in the other room and noticed the wireless was down. do you use wireless? mayve you had a similar internet issue without knowing. i think since gt5 is always connecting to the network.... a disruption of that may cause some issues. i am pretty confident that is why my gt5 froze (i was coming back to the gt life main screen fom online i think)

i mean if it happens often then maybe it could be something else. i only had that once time thing and just happned to nitice my wireless network was messed. I unplugged my modem and router and had no other issues. my router is cheap so every once in a while it needs to be restarted/unplugged to fix it.

I wouldnt worry about it unless you see it more.

yea now that i think about it i think the internet was the problem. thanks man! my router is this one

and it's a couple years (5 years or so) back. it uses 802.11g, so its good enough i think. i have the same problem as you, i have to restart it and stuff and sometimes the dns doesn't work or something. A lot of the times it just drops connection and works within 5 secs, but it's enough to screw up my game and make me restart. Will it fix the problem if I upgrade to something like this?

Can anyone chime in on this?

Mine kept freezing on the home screen earlier. I had no pointer or anything and couldn't select anything, but the rest of the PS3 still worked like you described. I rebooted the PS3 and game, but didn't sign in online this time. It worked fine.

So I retried with signing in, and I got the same problem again. So I think it is a network issue. Like if the network isn't running fast enough, it takes too long to connect and freezes or something like that anyway. Because I noticed my internet was running slow on the laptop too. So I turned the router off and back on again and it was then back up to speed on the laptop.

Then GT5 has been working fine ever since. It is a strange problem.

Yeah I just tried this and there is definately no lag when you are disconnected. But it seems like the online is working fine now, maybe the server has less load?
