Welcome to the thread!

The idea:

Polarbear345, nitrorocks and I have been discussing a new series. Our plan is to have a fully budgeted series. We'll be tracking every team's expenditures. We plan on using some of the most new, unused cars in Gran Turismo 5.

We will be accepting drivers into a "draft pool" where they can wait until a team signs with them. Drivers will be signed for cost.

Everything that must be purchased should be kept track of.

We will give all manufacturers a limit on how much they may spend, based on the cost of buying and building a car and signing a full team of drivers.

We are looking into some generally unused cars and a few other series, to bring the most new, innovative and exciting series ideas.

How it will work:

Drivers: Drivers will run races. Details are still very unconfirmed.

Manufacturers: Manufacturers will build cars and recruit drivers.

Alfa Romeo GTA 1600 '65

Alpine A110 '73

Ginetta G4 '64

Honda S800 '64

Jensen-Interceptor Mk. III

Lotus Europa Special '62

BMW 2002 Turbo '73

Shelby GT350R '65

If you select a car, here is how it works:

For Example, say you want the Shelby GT350. You ask the organizers if it is allowed within the regulations. If they say yes, then you myself will be Shelby the manufacturer. So that will be the car you are running. Now you have to build it according to the regulations under a budget. If you bring a car into the series, you are considered a Team Manager, and you are the head of the manufacturer, You hire and fire drivers, pay them, whatever.

Should be a fun series. We're all capable hosts and stewards. :sly:

Wow, definitly not what we talked about last night! But it looks fun!

Haha, nitro made the point "everyone does this GT1 stuff. We should try something new."

SO, we decided to do some very unused race cars.

I like it! But maybe add a premium car or two, for accessibility reasons.

GT5, why don't you include any decent premium cars from the 70s?

I know, I know. 90's would be cool too?

And we're back to the IMSA GTO idea. ;P

Haha. We need he 300SL, and the AC Cobra.

Depending on dates and hours I will put myself in the draft pool as you put it.

I think we are going to test tonight.

I've got the BMW and the Alfa, for sure BMW, not totally sure about the Alfa...

But how would we test the cars? In my eyes, there are just too many variables with the budget system to properly test the cars. So depending on how much money manufacturers are given, will determine how fast their car can go...

I think I may have answered my own question:

We would be testing to see how fast each car is fully upgraded? Or how fast each is stock, to see how much money the teams should get to buy upgrades/ get better drivers.

I think we new to add the Mini '98. But we yes. To test equality, we need to post this directly in the racing series section so people know about it.

We'll find dates that work for most people. Hopefully you can make it.

Also, we're testing right now. The cars are fun with both racing tires, and comfort tires. It's a different type of fun for each.

I say Comfort tires. Very very fun!

There's a private poll... :) It helps us keep track of votes over a long period of time. And, Polarbear, you and I all agree on running a democratic series. All of our series (Rolex, Continental tire, ITCC, VLN etc) all run with people getting their voices heard, and good ideas are implemented.

We need more drivers in the drafting pool so the cars can actually be tested.

Guys, maybe we should try the gt1 route? Classic gt doesn't seem to be doing wonders...

Yeah. I think Nitro's dead-set against the GT1 route, because it's too common, but, maybe we can find something else.

I don't see any gt1 series right now :P

But there are plenty of other options... Possibly a touring car championship (like ITCC, but maybe with aero) and we make you pay for everything... Example; you have to pay like 100,000 credits per weekend per car? And however much damage you take costs money. Example; a little red ring on your tire costs 15,000... But a red circle and ring costs 50,000. May be too complex, but we could just make everything cost money... Hey, if you sneeze.... 15 credits for tissues!

 Are you thinking of joining this, with the VLN series? I think it'd be plenty of fun!

We'll allow $550,000 per season. Each race will run maybe 4 sets of tires, and we'll run it with tires that cost $10,000 each? So, $40,000 for tires, $3,000 for the high octane racing fuel, $43,000 per race, plus damages... With damage on heavy... That could be highly interesting. So, let's say that the cars cost $200,000, and there's 5 races. 5x43,000=125,000.

200,000
125,000
325,000 before damages? Something like that...

Yea, I guess I just described that... Lol! That would be fun! Too bad I don't think I can make all the VLN races... But if we get it going in like... Now... I could get some races in. Bummer I can't really play during the week, let alone do a endurance race!

Absolutely love that line up of cars.
Love the concept too.
I'll have to see what I can do.

Good to see you. :scared: After this season of ALMS... I thought I wouldn't be seeing too much of you guys...

Let's leave that in the past.

Well, I've already announced that I'm not coming back to season V. I'm leaving it in the past, just as much as everyone else.
