I thought PGR4 had pretty mediocre graphics IMO, certainly nowhere near as realistic looking as in GT5. Though the weather effects were pretty nifty. ;)

I was just saying "if" it didn't look as good as PGR4. As it stand right now, GT5 is looking a lot better than PGR4. I just hope the weather effects will be just as "nifty" or even "gooder" than PGR4. :D

I'm literally shaking my head and having a bit of a laugh.

HOW DID YOU COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT I WAS IMPLYING HE WAS STUPID?

I asked him if he actually knew what it was. I could have said: "Fail. You have no idea of what you're on about, you idiot", but instead I politely asked him if he understood what V-sync was. He may have been confusing it with something else or he may have read something wrong.

I corrected him without abusing him.

I guess it's your loss when you struggle to interpret everyday conversation.

If better looking textures don't make a game look technically better, then what does it do? :dunce:

I don't see how you corrected anyone.

In your first reply you said that guy didn't understand anything because he thought v-sync would improve texture quality. Maybe I missed something but you were the first to talk about texture quality related to v-sync.

And for the record, improving the visual quality of a game doesn't just mean improve textures. One could improve object polygon count, effects, animations, etc. and visual quality would improve without necessarily improve any texture. I think it's quite obvious and hope you can understand it.

I don't recall seeing that clearly written on the GT website at all, infact, a lot of things posted on the GT website that day weren't very clear at all. As I said in post #2, we'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah we will have to wait and see, but to me it sounds like they will recycle GT4 cars.

https://www.gtplanet.net/page/5/

830 kinds of standard model (some are from Gran Turismo 4 that have been carried over to GT5)

Im sure those 830 cars will be GT4 models in HD touched up slightly maybe with added interiors. There is no way even in 5 odd years that PD could have modelled so many cars to GT5 spec from scratch.

As for the visual differences between GT5 and prologue I would think that the car models would stay the same but the environments and lighting would be improved.

It is true that GT4 Prologue had slightly better graphics than GT4 because of space issues with the disk and the addition of more advanced physics.

Robin.

Say What?

PGR 4 doesn't have that "photorealistic" look but it's graphics are CRAZY good. PGR 3 and 4 were well ahead of their time.

Yeah it's just an arcade racer, but Graphically speaking, in a lot of ways it STILL hasn't been out done.

I don't understand what you people mean by "GT5 spec"? GT5P had the NSX which I'm sure is a recycled GT4 model and it looked every bit as good as the other cars that weren't in GT4. I will bet my MS steering wheel that every single car in GT5 will be the same "spec". I've said it before and I'll say it again that it would be silly to have some cars look better than others in the same game. It will be equal across the board. I can't remember off the top of my head but I'm sure GT5P had a couple other cars that were also in GT4 aka recycled GT4 cars that were brought up to HD spec?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing eh? "Could have said this", "could have said that" Instead, you chose to write a sly comment about his apparent lack of knowledge. You did not politely ask at all, but you did have time to think up and formulate your oh so innocent defence...

The loss would apparently be yours, being your inability to intelligently articulate things in everyday conversation. If you had wanted to help out by explaining, you would have done.

As for textures...why are you still harping on about those? For a start, they were not part of the initial post that you responded to, and secondly, high-res, high-quality textures do not a good looking game make. Rearrange those words if you can :dunce:

Quite a lot actually, including GTHD. I wont bother listing them but a good number (around 30+).

With those 30 it would let 140 for "Premium" cars. This cant be true ! This list must be BS nothing more...

I suppose it all boils down to personal preference, I just found the graphics to be a little bit too bright and colourful for my tastes. The speed blur effect didn't help either. But as I said, I thought the weather effects were kinda nice.

Who knows, maybe I've just been spoiled by Prologue! ;)

LOL PGR4 has better graphics than Gt5p? Are you serious, or just blind ?

Yeah, well all the cars we have seen in the GT5P style graphics detail comes close to 100 (including GTHD demo, gameshow demos, studio tour pics etc) so if only 170 cars were modelled to this "premium" spec then we have already seen more than half of them. Yeah I don't think so.

Yeah, that would be ridiculous and absurd:dunce:

ALL cars will be modelled to the same spec as all the cars we've seen! Maybe the 170 "premium" was mis-translated? Maybe he meant 170 new models and the rest are models that have been in GT4? How silly do you think the game will look if 170 cars have GT5 spec graphics and the rest looked like Forza 3 cars. Yeah...I took a cheap shot at Forza. All fun and games, though. :D

In some ways it does.

GT5p's cars look amazing but for the most part the Environments don't match up to the same level of quality... but the environments do look good.

Pretty much the opposite is true for PGR 4. The environments are the star of the show... but the cars do look good.

I dont believe in that too, 170 new cars incl ferrari ,lambo, nascar cars in 5 years ? NO FREAKIN WAY !

I think the experience gained between GT5:P and GT5 will result in a slight improvement to GT5's graphics. Not the polygon count of cars but improvements in details such as the trees (they seem to be improved in the recent videos), and rendering improvements such as shadows, lighting and framerate.

I think Kaz commented in a recent interview that he (or PD) underestimated how tricky the PS3 was to develop on. GT4 Prologue and GT4 were not the first GT developments on the PS2 so I'd expect that PD had become quite familiar with the PS2 architecture and had a better understand after GT3 about how to squeeze the most out of it.

Well frank-jaeger went at FJV and said the anti-aliasing is better now:sly:good news.

@ original post : Btw the screen tearing/flickering is a glitch in GT5P's time trial mode only, for some absurd reason, when you race other cars as much as 16 cars per track, the problem disappears.

As long as the cars and tracks are the same as prologue I will be happy. The only improvements I would like to see are the grass at the edge of the track, in the replays that looks a bit weird. Also it needs rubber from tyres on the track, if you turn off ABS and have a massive lock up it would be good to see it on the next lap. Finally there is a framerate issue on prologue on replays with all cars on the track, it does dip at times but in single car time trial it's fine.

Yeah, look at te grass on the main straight of Fuji, weird is the least you can say about it.

Also those shadows outside the cars at the start of the Daytona race, they are all over the cars. What are they jagged shadows ???.

Okay forget this is a racing game, lets just stop along the tracks and look at the grass and trees! Forget the grass and trees, build more cars and tracks instead.

They just did overdo with them, they are really noticeable.

I don't care what the trees or grass looks like. I buy the game to race cars, and to race my friends online.
