That's a lovely looking race car, for sure. However, what I'll be most interested in is how it sounds. The destinct howl of the Lamborghini V10 is nothing short of mesmerizing, so I'll be curious to see how the Twin-Turbo V8 sounds in comparison.

Crap, I might have to book another trip to Sebring just to see this car in the flesh.

Went out to Sandown yesterday

Best looking GT3 car ever made imo. It's unfortunate that Audi ceased their factory support for the car.
Yeah, agreed. Sure we'll see cars in use for a lot of years, but I guess we'll see less R8 at the very front of the field.

I think the Huracan is up there in the looks department and the Z4 will always be the greatest sounding GT3 to me, but I think the R8 is a great overall.

Soooo, there's a GT America race at Road America on right now, and the field currently consists of 5, yes, FIVE, GT3 cars on the track, and nothing else. It started with 7, but one car didn't start the race, and the sole Aston Martin spun out and is out of the race. The conditions are also not great, with a lot of rain and heavy spray from the cars.

I know that the SRO GT2 races in Europe have been having problems filling grid slots as of late, but I don't think I've ever seen such a low car count from a professional racing series.

Edit: The sole BMW just spun out and hit the wall right after the kink. That brings out the Full-Course Yellow with 7 minutes to go, so that's likely the end of the race.

What an...odd event. :odd:

I’ve seen low numbers from their TC races as well. Not sure what’s the problem. The economy, sponsors, marketing, politics, no enthusiasm?

It probably doesn’t help that there’s essentially two championships running GT3 machinery; IMSA and GT America. I would imagine that in the case for more well funded teams, it would make more sense to run IMSA as it’s the more prestigious of the two, with big events like the Daytona 24, Sebring 12 Hour and the Long Beach Grand Prix. Those bigger, more established events get more spectators and better TV packages which satisfies sponsors.

GT3 Australia need help.

Five Audi
Five AMG
Two Ferrari
One Aston Martin
One Lamborghini

As per the article above, the one Mustang looks to be in one-off endurance racing and that’s it.
