I think that writer is on the loopy juice. He conveniently forgot that all of the big endurance races belong to IMSA. It only took the series 20 or so years to be more popular than trans am... which hasn't been a big deal in a loooooong time.

I really like watching PWC because it's great variety and great racing, but that won't make a series that's a sidekick to IndyCar premier by any stretch unless IMSA implodes (which could happen sooner than later with some of the bonehead decisions that have been made)

PWC's best aspects are that it's very economical to race. The sprint races make it very affordable. Plus, the GT3 cars are the lead class whereas in an IMSA, they're sorta GT3 and the lowest class with next to zero tv time.

I still have issues with Peter Cunningham(WC Vision and part owner of the series) fielding cars himself. That kind of stuff is what's keeping PWC down.

Lol when was the last time Cunningham won anything? Besides, SCCA is the real organizer. World Challenge is growing as is Indycar (but that's for another thread). What PWC does fantastically is it's officiating, and keeping the cars FIA spec. A sprint series can become premier, and I think it will continue to grow in popularity. When IMSA goes to FIA GT3 in 2016, we will have the 80's/90's SCCA/IMSA combo again I think. 75% of the PWC teams will continue fulltime in PWC, but will also do the NAEC races on the side. The main Tudor series is ELMS in my mind, while the NAEC is our "downsized" WEC. And I think that a lot of teams will view it like that moving forward. IMSA has to be careful or risk even imploding that.

Now...can we get the ACO/FIA to get GT3 in the WEC/24 Hrs of Le Mans? :P Maybe get GTEam into GT3am? :P

Not really. They're just as bad as IMSA about no calls. If anything, they really let the boys have at it. Never mentioned though

It's GT racing, is it ever going to be like F1?

I don't think there should be strong contact penalties in GT racing of any kind... look at Super GT, they go at it all guns blazing and drive each other off track with nothing.

Thank you, exactly. Watch SuperGT, Blancpain, FIA, British GT...GT racing is a bit of a brawl. That's the essence of Grand Touring.

Not exactly the ridiculous "have at it boys" wrecking eachother...more like a good hard football (soccer) match.

I don't think there should be any penalties at all for racing incidents unless someone does something pretty dumb. PWC has that aspect better than IMSA in my opinion. I've said that for a long time, but I've been told many many times how that's wrong because it's too NASCAR.

It's gt racing not touring cars.

Grand Tourers... they're essentially touring cars based off more exotic machinery. I give the example of Super GT, again - GT500's are basically slightly toned down prototypes and it's still commonplace to see cars divebomb from nowhere and put other cars off the track. Not that that's great racecraft, but still, in several GT series at least, the drivers aren't afraid to give a few knocks and rubs.

In every form of motorsport that has close racing, stuff like that will happen. Just the nature of the beast. It doesn't happen as much in open wheel because any contact usually hurts the car, but it's part of racing. I like the aggressive moves to an extent no matter what series; however, lots of moves aren't okay no matter the car coming even though I'm probably okay with a lot more contact than most.

@hsv you will want to see this interesting design.
Why do you think I chose Skwirk?

Not sure whether I like the green to yellow as much as the yellow to orange, but the black sets the back off really nicely. Especially against the Beechwood logo.

Craft Bamboo Racing confirmed for the Bathurst 12 hour.
Asian GT squad Craft Bamboo Racing has confirmed it will field two Aston Martin GT3 machines in next year’s Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

The Hong Kong-based squad entry boosts the GT3 field to 28 cars for the event at Mount Panorama on February 6-8.

Craft Bamboo Racing are expected to field one car in Class A outright while the remaining entry will compete in the Gentlemens Trophy, a class for cars with two unseeded drivers.
Former two-time Bathurst 12 Hour winner and ex-World Touring Car pilot Darryl O’Young will occupy one of the seats. He will be joined by team founder and GT Asia regular Frank Yu.

The identity of the squad’s full driving line up is yet to be revealed.

BMW Motorsport will add a new chapter to its success story in GT racing in 2016. The BMW M6 GT3 will replace the BMW Z4 GT3, which has been in action since 2010.
Development work on the new car is already in full swing. The first tests with the car, which is based in the BMW M6 Coupé, are planned for the first quarter of 2015. Customers will be able to purchase the BMW M6 GT3 from the end of 2015, allowing them to compete in the 2016 BMW Sports Trophy with the new car. Orders will be accepted over the course of 2015. The exact date, from which orders can be placed, will be announced at a later date.
“For me, as BMW Motorsport Director, there are few things more exciting than the development of a completely new car like the BMW M6 GT3,” said BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt. “This car’s properties make it predestined to succeed the BMW Z4 GT3. The BMW Z4 GT3 has enjoyed success around the world in recent years, and is very popular among our customers. We obviously want to follow on from this success with the BMW M6 GT3. After all, the target we have set ourselves is to provide our customers with the best possible material. We also want to demonstrate the high product substance of BMW M cars in motorsport with the BMW M6 GT3. We are all very excited to see it in action at the initial tests. One thing is certain from the first design sketches: this car is going to have the wow factor. It goes without saying that we will continue to offer BMW Z4 GT3 customers our full support, just as they have come to expect from us.”
The heart of the BMW M6 GT3 is the BMW M Twin Power Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine, which features a capacity of 4.4 litres. The engine is familiar from the production model and has been modified specifically for racing. The chassis is being optimised by hand for the specific demands of the racetrack in the BMW Motorsport workshop in Munich. With regard to technology, the focus is on the use of extras that meet the very highest and latest standards in motorsport development, such as racing gearbox, racing ABS and racing electronics. Even now, BMW Motorsport is focussing on safety, reliability and affordable running costs, to ensure that our customers can enjoy successful motorsport at the highest level with the BMW M6 GT3, without the financial burden being too great.
Anyone interested in purchasing a BMW M6 GT3 can send an E-mail to M6GT3@BMW-Motorsport.com. They will then be registered and be the first to hear any new information about the car.

David Brabham will join Australian team Flying B Racing in Bentley Continental GT3 at the February 6-8 2015 Event, not only brining the iconic Brabham name back to Mount Panorama but to the drivers seat of a Bentley racer as well.

The three-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner, double American Le Mans series champion and 1997 Bathurst 1000 winner raced a Bentley prototype at Le Mans in 2003, finishing second, and has a long affinity with the brand.

That's cool. Can't wait.

HOLY MOTHER OF STIG!!!!! THAT'S GORGEOUS!!!!!! :D :D   And it's racing internationally as well?! Pinch me I must be dreaming...

I can't wait to see this baby in action!

NIIIIIIIICE! America has another weapon in the GT3 war now

All's good. I'm looking for a new car to keep my interest, since I'm not following AMG next year.

Bentley jumped on the 12H real quick, Cadillac may want to join too. I'm still stunned Cadillac is not over here. Would sell well.
