Tokyo is a very good track to experiment and hone your driving skills with the X2010 ... and as mentioned it takes practice, drive a track over and over again and your lap times will improve ...

At first I couldn't do 1 lap on Indy without crashing or spinning out of control, now I'm down to laptimes at 33,3 seconds (without drafting), have also done the dream car championship several times with the X2010 for practice ...

I received my HKS Racing Controller last night. I'm currently Level 29... so I intend to practice-practice-practice with my X2010 (from Marketplace) until I unlock the Vettel challenge.

First impression is that the X2010 is quite a bit more controllable with the HKS than with the DS3. Will post back here once I get a bit more experienced with it.

I started out on the High Speed Ring (for some reason). To an extent it is like driving the Karts where sterring input has to be measured.

After about 15-20 laps of bouncing off the walls I eventually managed a clean lap with a time of 37.096 seconds. I still need a lot more practice though to get consistent.

I guess it's quite possible to control the X2010 with the DS3. I, however, can't drive it at all. That's just a personal quirk of mine, though.
I'm fine driving a car up to, say, the Super GT/GT500 level of performance. I can easily lap the 'Ring cleanly for hours on end in those cars and push fairly hard once I know the car properly, but give me something along the lines of an LMP, and I'm totally lost.

Maybe my reflexes just aren't up to snuff, or what ever. Maybe it's because I don't care about cars that don't even resemble a production model, which leads to me not practicing enough. I don't know. But I don't really care, either.

I guess that's just the way it is. Not everyone is suited to drive such a fast car without some major training sessions and that's fine, in my opinion.

I can't get a clean lap of the ring in any half decent car, i always end up having a tankslapper:scared:

I found that doing the AMG Driving Academy special races helped my 'Ring skills tremendously.

The biggest problem for me is just the inability to move the left stick fast enough especially in tight twisty sections such as chicanes. If your looking for an example the Schumacher s bend is one. At full bore through there it is almost impossible for me to to do the left to right whip of the stick in time and i find the only way through is to let off a little.

Also i'd like to add I know this sounds stupid. But I've got a pair of FPS Freeks which i use for well "FPS's' like COD and they are actually helping me with this! Basically what they do is extend your thumb stick and give you more leverage on your controller allowing you to be more precise. I'll keep u guys posted on how they go :)

It's just a matter of getting familiar with the vehicle. I couldn't even maneuver around the chicane at Monza going 80 MPH when i first got into it. I can now race a clean lap at Nordschleife in just under five minutes. You just need to remember that practice makes perfect. :)

driving the x2010 with a controller is fine. just gotta start thinking quicker than you do for driving "regular" cars. its the same step up as it is from a road car to the FGT.

all i'l say is, my x2010 prototype seems to drive really differently from the vettle one in the challenges. much more stable. anyone else?
