What sort of deal did the company who makes the 'Need For Speed' series of games do with Ferrari? I thought it was some sort of exclusive license, and that this is the reason there can't be Ferrari's in the Grand Turismo games. But yet Ferrari/MS put out this sort of press release.

"We at Ferrari are extremely pleased to be an integral part of the Project Gotham Racing franchise and are especially excited at the role and prominence that the new Enzo Ferrari will be playing in this second version of the game. I personally feel a strong link to Project Gotham Racing and am very happy to associate the Ferrari brand and the new Enzo Ferrari with this great video game brand franchise."

What happened here? Ether the 'Need For Speed' people missed something out of there contract about 'New Consoles' (the PS2 wasn't even being developed when the first 'Need For speed' game came out) or Ferrari Just doesn't like Japanese companies.

Any way it's a real shame we can't get there cars in our superior driving simulation.

I think the contract was mainly about money. i.e. if Polyphony Digital gave Ferrari/EA enough money (i'd say it would be well into the millions) then we may get Ferraris in GT.

But i think it hasn't happened so far because:

1. PD don't want to pay that much for it
2. EA/Ferrari have agreed to exclude PD from obtaining the Licence.

Aren't :ferrari: missing out on having millions of Real Car Enthusiasts (potential customers of Ferrari cars :car: and Merchandise)?

:gt:/Polyphony are well established and respected.... Gotham Racing doesn't really compare? Or does it?. I haven't played :computer:

Ah well Ferrari's loss really...though it would have been nice to burn rubber in the Red Machines :burnout:

MS and EA are afraid of PD thats why they don't want to give Ferrari and the others*. They always knew the PD will squash EA & MS if PD get in hold w/ the red exotica.

*Porsche, BMW M, Lamborghini, some MBZ, some GM and the likes.

INSECURITY

Porsche actually *wanted* to be in Gran Turismo, but their contract with EA said that they couldn't.

So to make up for it they (Porsche) suggested to Polyphony Digital that they could use RUF cars in Gran Turismo.

I never thought about PGR, and that is developed by a company that isn't owned by EA (Bizzare Creations, correct me if i'm wrong)...
No company will pay $1,000,000 just for a Ferrari in a game, I have no clue where you got that idea from.
I'ed say $50,000-$75,000 for a full fleet of cars.

Yeah well, it has to be expensive, so that was just a very wild guess!

EA is so very selfish with their cars, and someday it will result of their downfall.

Remember Scrooge?

Who know maybes we will see them make an appearance or then again maybe not but stranger things have happened

But it would be nice to see ferraris i would love to take a 355 for a spin in Tokyo :D

What?

are you sure it's only 50-75 grand for a full fleet of cars because any company would pay that because they would make their money back so quickly by selling copies of the games

I am very, very suprised no one has mentioned Koenig as a replacement for Ferrari! Koenig's tuned masterpieces are not only faster, but they are also different to be considered a different brand. It's exactly like the current situation with RUF. If RUF can replace Porsche, how about Koenig replacing Ferrari?

Now this is an idea, surely Sony/Polyphony knows about koenig (some of there stuff are barely recognisable as Ferrari's). Maybe they got there fingers burnt with the Lambo'a'like in the Japanese version Of GT3? (each car taking months to model etc.)

As far as i know, Koenig are not considered to be a proper car company like RUF.

But that could have changed.

That sounds promising 💡

I mean if there's Mines and Spoon surely we can have Koenig? :D

Maybe we could email them :computer: and mention all the benefits they could achieve by getting in touch with Polyphony? :smilewink

IMO, Koeing is just too fast and too different then a normal Ferrari.

EA's License is almost up with Ferrari, So I've heard (HP2 is their last Exclusive game with Ferrari)

How about the porche licence??
I mean I wouldnt care for the road cars, I just want to drive a 911 GT car and maybe the old Porche LeMans cars :D

Same.

EA got the same license with every company that was in NFS4.

Porsche, Ferrari, Mclaren, Lamborghini, BMW Z and M series, Etc.

yet, M-B and Jaguar, amongst others have offered cars in both games... (XJ220, XKR, SLK)

it's not because EA doesn't allow it, it's because Polyphony Digital didn't pay enough.

noticed there are no Japanese cars in NFS since the very first one?

Urge to give EA staff Tornado DDT`s rising :D

McLaren as well??
Thats a darn shame I would love to see a McLaren F1 racing with the 787b and the GT-One :)

And the huge amount I want to drive M series cars!!

Maybe they might be able to pay them greedy byatches now, I mean GT3 is actually beating GTC in the gamesscharts at the moment, well maybe thats because GT3 is £5 cheaper
