How many of you have played:
GT1, GT2, GT3 and GT-Concept
Or how many have you played.
How good are you on gt series

Beginner
Amateur
Professional

Please, don´t lie or you are an
cheater

Is it your sole purpose in life to create as many pointless topics as possible in the Gran Turismo 3 forum, to be moved to forums where they are less pointless?

Ayup...I'm a beginner, and have only played GT3.

Wow...Famine is considered a beginner. That must be because I've trounced him time and time again...

:D

AO

Have all but Concept.
It isn't available in the States.
Hate the looseness of the cars in GT1.
Have currently restarted GT2.
Have 3 GT3 memory cards going.
I'm also slower than lots of folks, including AO.:D

I have GT3 and GTC...I guess i'm okay at them...not very good though.

This is a pretty pointless topic. The only chatter you might get would be from side topics like these that comment about the Yankees, a person's dead cat, or how stupid a thread is. I could understand this topic if you dedicated all of your time to Gran Turismo and have less of a life than me, but seriously, why would you want to know what you're asking for? If a group of people came forth and said that the original Gran Turismo is the best, would you acually buy it? In my opinion, threads like these are worse than those that are repeated. At least the repeated ones gather new information for new people on an old topic... sometimes.

I've played all the GT series, including GTConcept. And I probably rank myself somewhere in amateur I think. Maybe even beginner.

I will post my lap times on certain tracks later ( if posibble )

gah!

at what point does one go from amateur to pro?

I'd consider myself beginner at some and pro at others

i have gt3 only

Pfft. You wish :D ;)

There are those peolpe that think this is a pointless question. But for me it´s important, just to see how good the rest of the gt-fans is here at this forum. Because i just sign up as a member here. :irked: :grumpy: i hope "DERF" and "FAMINE" understand now.

There's an even easier way to judge how good people here at GTP are at teh GT series. Take a list of your best laps, and search through the spot races and lap times comparisons. Then take a look at the weekly race series and see how the times compare.

AO

Easier still is to go to a dedicated times site.

Try http://www.gt3times.com/, or http://www.racing-line.org/. Both sites have extensive times databases. Racing-Line is for lap times only, but includes a hybrid group. GT3Times covers lap and race times for all races in the game.

I consider myself to be "Pro" level, as there are only a few guys in the world I feel I cannot beat (so far) according to the times databases. Amongst those are big p., jmr and Arco/Wiese. With almost everyone else it's a case of sometimes I beat them, sometimes I don't - so although I'm not amongst the very best, I feel I am a competant GT3 driver.

Get involved in OLR and you can improve your times no end, especially if you're involved in a team competition - teammates can always provide fresh perspectives...

I consider myself between Beginner and Amateur...:)

Oh I SO hear you... :D It seems like every other day that some kid pops up from nowhere and is posting provable times quicker than yours...

We're getting older & slower... :D

When I look at times I know I've done as well before when I played GT2. I even have the mem card to prove it. But it was like a year ago so I don't submit because I couldn't do it now. I used to play a little obsessively, at least a couple hours a day. Now only play a few times a week and for shorter times. Plus I'm more about completing the races and less about doing the same lap in the same car shaving off thousands of seconds. I haven't even used super soft tires in so long.

i think the difference between beginner and pro is how many questions you ask about settings.
if you can tune a car yourself you are pro. If you cant sort out your own settings you are beginner.

this is ofcourse only my opinion

in real racing, qualify or getting the best lap times helps with getting pole position. while low numbers are good, qualify and racing vary depending on how good you opponents are. so when online play is reality in the gt series in the future then you can start judging yourself, by looking at others driving style.

That's a very good point. However even the pros need setting tips from time-to-time, and even the worst players can have a sudden settings-epiphany.

If you don't take on-board settings advice from someone else because you're a "pro", then you're also a numpty. :D
