I have an idea for a GT1 championship and am looking for dedicated racers before I set anything up.

Cars:

RWD sports cars, front or mid engine, under 600hp. No race mods. Open tuning restrictions. Only two of each car will be available. You may team up with someone to share setups. Once there are enough people interested I will hold a draft. Cars available are as follows:

Aston Martin DB9 Coupe '06
Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione '08
BMW M3 Coupe '07
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 '06
Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe '06
Ferrari F430 Scuderia '07
Ford GT '06
Maserati Gran Turismo S '08 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG

Races:

Suzuka
Nurburgring GP/F
Laguna Seca
Daytona RC

Right now I'm thinking once a week, 4 race schedule all real world tracks. I want to keep the first season short to ecourage people to participate. Race time will be about 45 mins with a 15 min open qualifying.

PRIZES:

Series champion will recieve a car of their choice up to the limit 1,000,000 credits from the new car or online dealership.

Team champions will recieve a car of their choice up to 500,000 credits each

Biggest mover (most improved) will recieve a car of their choice up to 250,000 credits.

If enough people are interested I will post a sign-up thread.

I'd definitely be interested, but only if we all use racing hard tyres. What other rules and regs have you considered? I believe the current minimum weight for FIA GT cars is 1250kg. However I used to have a fully modded Maserati, which was something more than 1300kg, so I'd suggest 1300kg minimum for all cars to keep it as fair as possible.

If I start to get enough interest I'll start looking at the weights for all the cars and get a minimum weight set for all cars. Also yes, the races will be on hard tires for all cars. Qualifying will be softs.

I am currently testing all the cars to balance them out performance wise. I will be posting times next to each car. All cars are being tested with control setups, as close to 550 hp as possible with all other performance mods except chassis reinforcement on hard racing tires.

Any reason you're not using chassis reinforcement?

Not really. To be honest I haven't applied it to any car I've had so I don't even know if it helps or hurts. I know in previous GT games it induced understeer in some cars. Just wanted to make it an even field for the test.

So far the Corvette and Viper are quicker than the rest of the field. Still doing more testing to slow them down and make the whole field competitive.

Ok. After testing all the cars and looking at the performance numbers I think the best way to level the cars is this:

Under 600hp
Weight unrestricted
PP = 560
All other mods unrestricted.

So, anybody wanna get a series going? All the cars look incredible, I'll try to get some screenshots up later.

Count me in. Have you got/tested the M3? Wondering what the maximum power output you can achieve, I think it's quite a bit less than 600. I suspect all the cars would be very close if they were 550bhp/1300kg, with chassis reinforcement. Any understeer can be dialled out in suspension settings and LSD, naturally.

By the way, LV, where in the world are you? (Time zone)

I'm in the central time zone, US. Yes I have bought and tested all the cars. The M3 is less than 600 but I've implemented the PP system to bring all the cars closer together. So you can pick your HP/weight you want to run to get to the 560PP with racing hards.

Right, gotcha. Will you be running any open lobbies for testing/casual racing/publicity? If so, any idea when?

Okay if I run a Z34? It's pretty much in the PP bracket, and ready to go.

Ah, okay.

I'm interested in this. Hopefully I can find time between my Integra series, and the Miatas.

I can put up a lobby for testing no problem. I actually would like to test a little bit before a season gets started.

For now I want to keep it to the cars on the list. Nothing personal, just want to stick with these. They've been tested and I don't wanna have everyone asking me to drive their own cars.

Track schedule and prize announcements coming later today.

My PSN is the same as my name here. LVracerGT. I will be on in about an hour and a half to do some more testing.

Hi I am interested, I would like a few more details though of how it would work and what time the races would be as I am in UK

Cheers

I'm not entirely sure what day and time the race would be yet. I'm thinking saturday morning/afternoon here in the US. I think that would let europe guys be able to participate as well.

Ah ok, well will you be online on friday and I can join and we can discuss.

I have my eye on the M3 :p

Or

The scud

Yeah I can be on Friday. Once I get enough people interested I will set up a draft. Everyone's name will be thrown in a hat and drawn randomly. When you're name is called you may choose your car. Only two of each car will be available. So if you want to team up with someone and draw together you may do so.

Im interested in joining but still a little confused regarding the PP limit. Are the cars modified or stock? What parts do we have to purchase if the cars must be modified? This sounds very nice, and Im willing to help. :)

Mule, got you added to the list.

PP limit is 560. You can modify the car any way you like, as long as it is under 600 hp.

Just so everyone knows, there will be a draft before the series starts. So if you buy a car and it gets picked in the draft you will have to pick another car. If anyone thinks they can't afford the car to race, contact me and I will make sure we get you a ride :)

still spots available? BMW M3 Coupe if possible? Got an epic tune

Yes spots are still available but car selection will be done via draft.

Bump.

It looks like we may have enough interest to start a series. I'll be making a new thread later today with a sign up and new thread title. Stay tuned.

So how does Saturday mornings work for everyone? I'm trying to think of a race time that will work for the US and Europe.
