Well, I know GT3 and GT:Concept have come out, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a gt2 competition. I'll work out all the details if anyone is!

If you can get a few people together, I'll join in.

I spend most of my gamein time on GT3, but if it gets interesting, I'm in too.
Love that Red Rock Valley. (hint, hint)

I've run a number of series over the years, and have worked the cars/or system to create some pretty close racing.

If you want to utilize one of these series rules, then I'm all for it, and can work at dragging in some more bodies from a couple of other sites.

A couple of series that I've run or run in with basic rules. These were all great series, with pretty even cars or rules.

Historic Sportscar Racing

Cars from 60's, 70's, 80's.. fully race prepped.. Elan, 240Z, Camaro....

Full details

Speedvision WC GT

Cars that fit the basic premise that is SVWC GT.

Muscle Cars

Well, the muscle cars. :D

MiniMania

A bunch of very small cars race prepped..... Great test of driving ability, and a real need to be smooth.

British Touring Car - BTCC

Race prepped British Touring car series.

Of course we could do a JGTC500 type of event as well.

I would also agree that utilizing some of the tracks that aren't in GT3 would be a bonus, especially Wed Wock Walley. ;)

I've posted this elsewhere as well.. perhaps we can get 10 + and do an open series, in that people can come and go if they like, and have rankings based upon a minimum participation over time, like 50% of the events. We could run them every two weeks, and pick something new each time, or run a full series with one set of rules... again whatever the majority wants.

@ Gil: red rock is quite cool.. it rocks :p

I'll look into those comps Fogel and get back to ya. Do you think it'd work with just us three (lol) or should we try to get more people?

EDIT: Oh, and if you can get some people from other forums to participate it'd be kool

I think we could drag out a few people with a bit of work. The Historics would likely get the largest entry.....

The tradition of the series allows for more then one car per driver, so I see no reason to change that at this point.

Do you want to do time trial mode, fastest lap? Or multiple laps?

I've got to double check the specs, and ensure that the power for each car is up to par.

How many races do you want to do?

Hey Gil, these cars run better at Red Rock Reverse, is that also ok with you? (hint) ;)

psone - you decide the tracks, and format..

So psone - start a spot race, referring to the coming series. It would allow people to do some testing to see what everyone likes in cars? That could possibly generate a bit of interest. Regardless of the format of the balance of the races, the spot should just be fastest lap in Time Trial.

Some good spot race tracks that aren't too extreme in speed vs. handling might be Deep Forest (either direction), Tahiti (either direction), Autumn Ring (either direction).

Once you get that spot posted, I'll post it at some other forums.

It's been a very long time since I've run RRV in reverse. But, I'm game. I have no problem getting my booty handed to me on a plate.
For kicks and giggles I'll even make my line-up ALL LOTUS.

hey.. sorry .. i'm busy on weekends! :p *does have a bit of a life*

anyway, the tracks will be as follows...

Race 1 SSR5 Clubman
Race 2 Red Rock Valley Reverse
Race 3 Tahiti Road Reverse
Race 4 Autumn Ring Reverse

I'll put the due date later, but it'll be about every two weeks. I'll post the spot race in the spot race forum, that way maybe more ppl will see it.

Time submission format:

Your Name
Car
Track

Total Time

Sector 1
Sector 2
Sector 3
Sector 4

Top Speed

time trial with unlimited laps. 4 car limit for each person (each needs a diff nick)

oh, and PM the times to me.

I'll be running this on a couple of other sites.... where do you want those people to send their times?

Do you have an email to send them to, or should I give you access to a netscape email account that I've used for time submissions in the past, and you can check it?

oh yeah i didn't think of that.

yeah i'll use a netscape email u've used before if its alright

Tahiti Road Reverse? blech... One of the few tracks in the game that doesn't have any real rythm... Normal on the other hand is great... no matter, we'll figure it out.

The first two events should be blinding fast... wow...

I'm currently in testing with BOTH Elans, and the Europa.
I'm nowhere near the times in the Spot race thhread. But then I ain't near as fast as I'd like to believe.

But I'm having fun.:D

Gil - if you want any settings hints, I 'd be glad to help out, as much, or as little as you'd like. At this track, both Lotus cars should be ahead of the cars that I've run.

I'm actually finding the Elans to be very fast, if somewhat "twitchy".
The Europa with the turbo is gonna take a bit more work. Funny thing is it works out to 236 hp in NA form.
I may have to try it for kicks and giggles.:D
Thanx for the offer of help. I may be back very soon for some ideas.
I've lowered it, not all the way down, but significantly, played with the gearing to give the "girls" longer legs.
I think I may have to back off on the camber settings to get it to feel a bit more "settled".

Feeling settled, is not likely going to do it for quick lap times, but it'll be a comfy ride. ;)

I just hate to try and go fast in a twitchy car.

Hey guys, good to see more GT2 fans. If i get time maybe I'll throw a few times in here.

In case some of you didn't notice there is a biweekly GT2 challenge based on HP/weight ratios in the "Offical GTP Competition" section (under online racing category). The races are 2 to 10 laps depending on which HP/weight class. Competition is inconsistant, but it can be fun to bench race.
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/t-16835.html

Also I'm in a yahoo group that runs challenges similar to these, but usually a specific car on a specific course (all types of cars). I'd love to see some more competition there too.

All cars come equipped with;
No mention of the traction and spin control things availible in the "Others" section. Can they be equiped?

Also, I'm a little confused on the race format (nothing new).

I get the car restrictions (pick a car from the list and tune as described). But for each 'Round' do we submit times for all four tracks listed in psone's message, or are we doing one at a time?

What does "4 car limit for each person" refer to?

And I assume we're racing for a single flying lap time?

Thanks, we'll see what I can do with time.

Hi Jay, You can't use the traction control and parts from the other section, well except weight redux and racing body.

There will be four races, probably submissions for one track at a time every other week.

You can submit times for up to four different cars, but you have to make up phony names for them.

Thanks for the tips on the other competitions... I might take a look at those once we get this running.

This series originated at GTF and has run six seasons there, with as many as 40 entries. It should be quite a bit of fun. We will be signing up drivers from other boards as well, so it should be interesting.

ok

huh?

Suppose you choose four cars.

Woodruff
Ruffwood
furdoow
whatever... for example.. Just use your name, and a couple of fake names.

psone - could you finalize the submission dates, and let me know where you want people from other sites to submit their times to, and I'll get it rolling offsite as well. :D

k. the deadlines for the spot race is May 31.

Race 1 SSR5 Clubman - June 14
Race 2 Red Rock Valley Reverse - June 28
Race 3 Tahiti Road Reverse - July 12
Race 4 Autumn Ring Reverse - July 26

Or do you think I should just make them a week apart?

A week apart is probably better IMHO. Then you don't get people running off on summer vacation.

k.

then spot race is May 24

Race 1 SSR5 Clubman - May 31
Race 2 Red Rock Valley Reverse - June 7
Race 3 Tahiti Road Reverse - June 14
Race 4 Autumn Ring Reverse - June 21

Will load up now and run some laps with my Loti, "Big Time" and "Leviathan". Both names chosen due to the "humongous" size of the Lotus Elan.:odd:
If I choose to run the Europa, we'll call it "Fat Albert".
