I restarted gt2 a day ago because my ps2 bust  . Now im on 9.13% on day 28 with all the tests completed.. Ive got 100% of my races won so far (21 races 👍) ive got 12 cars... they are all stock and i only bought two of them, the rest where won :

Supra Twinturbo-R (J) '91
Sileighty (J)
Europa
Accord Type-R
Mugen CR-X ||| (J)
Yaris '99
Clio 16V ( This car should be burnt)
Mugen Beat (J)
Mazda Demio A-spec(J) '97
Impreza Wagon STi ver.V (J)'98

And my new buy Supra RZ(J) '97

I have 57.267 Credits and im gunna use the 4th turbo on the Supra RZ after i saved up... I need advice. I wana to put my RZ into Gran Turismo All stars (Race 3) for a heafty 550 000 winning money. Including car sale at the end..... Is this a good idea because my last save took me over 100 races to get to the Escudo! Help! Thanks..

I might also do a restart as well. I can't find my PS1 memory card :indiff:
I want to have 100% in everything (winning ratio etc.) ;)
Geez, I really miss the good old GT2 days :)

By the way the stock supra with 653 horse power is a no go.... It is far to powerful, No handling (U have to slide round as the brakes arn't good enough) Also there is wheel spin up to 3rd gear :O madness... Saving up for some more bits i think is needed..

Use your computer + ePSXe

Better graphics, quicker load times, etc.

Well, if you want to reduce the wheel spin you need to buy custom gearing, and what do you mean the brake aren't good enough?

Yeah, as long as you tune it and use proper doses of throttle & brakes, you should be able to use the Supra to win here. It sounds like maybe you need something with 4-wheel drive...maybe that'll work better for you.

In the end i started testing cars here some specs for you

Supra RZ : 650+ Gear changed...too heavie handles like crap

Nissan 300Z turbo(i think): around 590, better handling and gears worked well but
not enough power even with weight advantage.

newest Skyline GTR : 720+ Bloody expensive too massive turbo lag :P... kept up with the gt cars for start but im paused on the first corner with everything stock apart from my turbo.... o dear..thx for replies ;)

All cars a "Budget buys for just under 135 000 credits btw

Ok so the skyline managed to keep pace with them but there is no handling...as in the car doesnt turn at all. Im sure my controler has pluged in there is so much understeer i start looking for the best ways to hit the barrier and bounce off or try to cut through the grass......But definatly fast with stock gears i mananged just over 350 kmph (Thats alien to me anyone know that in miles per hour) So go for Turbo mod cars race in the last devision with this car.

It sounds like you just gotta tune the suspension & brakes. What kind of settings are you using for these parts? Also, did you even change the tires? Alot of people make that mistake...they forget to use soft or super soft tires--this guy I used to race against would do that sometimes.

It managed to beat so far : R33 Drag, Toyota GT1 , Jaguar LM J220 i think

Briliant car, thanks to all you forum guys for the help on modification infomation, about springs and brake balances. Gears are on full setup aswell, im pulling almost 780 ponies. Im gunna totaly mod other cars and spec them like this, ive got the supra in mind and mabe a 3000GT. Thanks for all the support, if u want any help ill try to give you it if u wana ask. But there are loads of mech-heads around better than me. Happpy owning ;)

Fully tuned Skyline Gt-R (4WD)
Vs
Fully tuned Supra RZ (FR)

Both cars with the same settings, The Skyline beat the Supra in 400,1000 metres test by like 5 seconds in each but wierdly the Skyline LOST Against the Supra in top speed by about 10 kmph i think this 4WD thing was in a different post but i couldn't find it. The Skyline did have a massive advantage from standing but lost a lot of power to the high speeds.....

You probly already know this, but that's because the Skyline gets a better launch with its 4 wheel drive...whereas the FR Supra can't take as much throttle otherwise it'll suffer from wheelspin. Depending on which Skyline you're testing (which year & model, etc) it could have a higher power to weight ratio than the Supra + it could be geared differently and have different downforce, which could explain why the Supra wins at the Top Speed. Maybe maybe not.

And also, I meant which settings are you using on that Skyline @ Red Rock All Stars? Not which parts---which suspension & brake settings. This is where your understeer problem lies.

I recently re-started GT2 also, since I no longer live with the roommate who had a PS2 and just acquired a old-school Playstation of my own. Any how, this time I plan to acctually complete the game 100%.
It seems you were successful in winning your desired tourney race. One nice hint for you or others who might view this, one of the easiest ways to get a really good [R] modifies car is to win the I-B class Tahiti Road race in the 80's sports car cup. You will win the older Skyline (FR) I think its rthe R-32, Sillouette Formula with 555 hp. It's not as easy to drive as some of the other [R] mod prizecars, but at this early stage in the game, you can win practically any race with it( except the all-night endurance race). Hope this helps someone. BTW, I am looking to finish 100% in less than 350 days.
:dopey:

Go for 100% + 6 golds in 226 days

Hey start off with the Supra Twin turbo-R '91

Complete all race you can do with this car Japan league, Clubman, Sunday, some of the Fr ones and most importantly the classic car cup (first 2 races) and the estate car cup. Then go for the Luxary 4 door cup do the first or second one of them, you win a Honda Accord Type-R, Then you can do the Type r meating. and a few other races. If you have got a europa by now you can complete some other smaller horsepower challanges.

Then buy skyline with all the money you can drum up and get stage 4 turbo and any other bits you need. The skyline itself is about 55 000 and you will needs about 75 000 for the turbo. Then run the Second Turbo sports race on test track. Sell the car you win or leave it and buy yourself the rest of the upgrades for the skyline. Set gears to full speed. Lower the front suspension higher the back. stiffen them. Run the same race again.

Sell the R33 drag for 250 000 credits.... Go wild 👍 :)

Hope that helps you, im on day 38 with 1,030,852...and i can do nealy all the races i wish in the skyline.... i recomend you go for escudo with turbo 4, and complete the red rock on all stars and get 500 000+ credits per race.

(Btw the skyline and the Supra had identicle tweeks, suspension and aero extra)
Aparantly the 4wd cars are always slower due to friction caused by the differetial or summot that drives all four wheels at once.

feel good knowing you're a pro at the game
Yeah... to get all license cars in a row (without saving) must be a pro, but to win races with the Escudo... any noob can do that.

It's practically impossible to beat the Escudo without the Escudo in 1 try ...

True, true... i forgot that one...
I don't like rally races in GT2, so most of the time i don't even remember they're there.

I hate the rally races, Racing lines out the window and all you just have to slide, but theres no realistic physics for you or anything. Take Granturismo 3, i find the physics engine works ok for rally but it gt2 its all a bit corny and rushed. On track gt 2 has the best features Imo. apart from the number of cars :P (Bought a prelude : maximum output 302hp = No go!!!)

I was thinking of doing a Lap time compotion on this post. I don't know if any of you are intrested but its limited rules are:

Japan Horsepower limitation (276 hp Or below)
Any modifications allowed aslong as they do not exceed the horsies limit.
FR or MR Drive type only.
Mid-Field Race way.
Fastest times for 1 lap.
List parts but not settings, If you want to keep them secret.
No Credits budget.

Let me know if ur intrested ill be doing it. Good luck.

I am interested, but its better if you create new thread for this. For hp limitation, I think we should be use hp reading in the garage or dealer tuning shop .

Speaking of rally trcks, I am a BIG FIA WOrld Rally fan in real life, so I was very excited to see rally in GT2. Alas, what a disappointment!!! The physics are marginal at best, ant the tracks are circuitous.... real rallying is normally done on a stage by stage format, so the only races that appeal to me are the Pike's Peak. Yes, the climb is impossible without one of the Pike's Peak special editions, but I've beat the downhill in a simple FF rally vehicle.

If you want a fairly realistic rally experience, try FIA World Rally for PS2... its got real stages from rally courses around the world. AND there's damage!!!! You spin off a corner into a tree, you are liable to end up with a busted windscreen and a steaming radiator... decreased power and a suspension that pulls you off the road.!!

Any way, just thought I would throw that in for you ppl who want to try a real rally challenge.

Yay, an old thread back from the death. It's better then making a new one ;)

Umm...are you sure? I did it the first time I raced the Escudo on the Hill Climb track. It was pretty easy, but my heart was beating like hell :p

Using what car?

I too like Rally. I love formula 1 but what a lot of people don't realise is that Rally drivers are definately among the worlds best IF NOT the best drivers ever. They have a course they only drive through once or twice and all they have to rely upon are pacenotes. They drive with hazards and in the most toughest conditions. It's alot easier to say NASCAR where you drive in an oval.

Yup. As much as I appreciate how difficult it must be to drive in a oval at 200 mph, I can't get over the fact that under the skin, all those NASCAR machines are almost the same. NASCAR used to be much better in the 60's when the cars were actually more ‘stock’*than they claim to be now..there was a lot more variety, anyways. I love watching GT Touring Car races on speedvision...skip right past the NASCAR stuff.
