Part Zero: Version history
Version 1.00: Release of the Guide

Part One: Introduction of the Guide
I've made this guide about the functionalities of the MK's Program (more known as GT3gEDIT) for make hybrids more easily.
Before to start, make sure that you have a save compatible with XPort (the save must be .XPS or .SPS). You can convert saves to these two formats with an external software.

Part Two: Tutorials, Beginner
Here is described the basic usage of the program

1) Start GT3gEDIT and open the your garage by the function "Read Garage"
through the "File" option
2) Load the your garage in .XPS/.SPS. GT3gEDIT works for every region of Gran
Turismo 3: A-Spec. You must have at least one car in the garage
3) Once loaded select a garage space and press F6 if you want change the your
actual car to an another. If correct, will be displayed a table with all of the cars present in the game including hidden and Sample cars. Drag columns and use "Sort 1st Col" to make an alphabetical order of the car list. If you want only a name change select "Base only" before
4) Once chosen, click on the car that you want and press "Select"
5) Now if you want change a part of the car, highlight the part that you want
change. Works from "BodyColor" to "CarType" and for all “PARTS” sections
6) When highlighted press F5 to open a table with the parts. If a car is
tuneable, to the top you will see the own parts of the car for a faster
application. If you want a part from an another car just use "Sort 1st Col"
as for the car list (point 3) for a faster browsing of parts
7) Once installed the parts use the function "Write Garage", then save the file
creating a new one or overwrite it
8) Now insert the save in the XPort and then to the PlayStation 2. If you use a
MAX Drive use an external software to convert the Xport save to a MAX Drive
save (.MAX)

Part Two: Tutorials, Amateur
The Amateur part cover how to tune the “SETTINGS” section of a car. For make this you need to export car data in .ini format using the dedicated function

1) Once opened GT3gEDIT and loaded the your garage, highlight a part of the car
the you want to export and use "Export Car" through "File". A window must
open to save a .ini of that car. Save it with the name of the car
2) Now open it in a text editor. You will find all of the data of the car
3) Scroll to "240". This is the first value that you can tune only with this
method. This value is for the reverse gear ratio
4) From here you will find in order the unmodifable values in GT3gEDIT, or
rather reverse gear ratio and so on
5) For an easier detection of the part that you actually tune scroll together
with GT3gEDIT
6) Pay attention to the "turbo" (from 1 to 6), parts with numbers like "87",
"fitments" (from 1 to 3" and "oil" (1 and 2) values. Is still unknown what
are these
7) When you want tune a value like the ride height, use the number that you
want plus one, or rather, if you want a car high 80mm, don't write 80, but
81, or the car height will be 79mm.
8) Once finished, save the .ini and in GT3gEDIT use "Import Car", always from
"File" and choose the .ini. Scroll to “SETTINGS” and if was applied save the
file through "Write Garage" and play it in the your PS2

Part Two: Tutorials, Professional
This cover how to use the Power Multiplier, the tire grip, tune the gear ratios to make a "seven gears" car and also making a multiple reverse gear car

1) POWER MULTIPLIER

As seen in Gran Turismo 2, there is a Power Multiplier, that how the name explain, multiply the power of a car. This value is 0 by default and can be modified only via car export (see Amateur Tutorial). Scroll to "440" to see the Power Multiplier. The calculation of the power increment is very easy compared to Gran Turismo 2. Just pick the your car's HP and multiply by the value that you want. The max value that you can use is “65535”, that multiplies 65535 times the engine power. Use it for extreme hybrids!

2) TIRE GRIP

Once again as seen in Gran Turismo 2 there is a Tire Grip modifier. The value is 75 by default for both front and rear tires. Scroll to "356" and "360" to see these values. 356 is front and 360 is rear. A very high tire grip may cause the car not move due to the extreme grip, not skidding to gain RPMs and then power/torque. Vice versa a very low tire grip will cause the car to skid always, resulting impossible to drive. I suggest to use the value "101", that increase only a bit the grip, but is effective.

3) MAKING A SEVEN GEARED CAR

Yes, you have heard right, you can make actually a seven gears car simply tuning the gear ratios in the .ini file of the your car. Before to start the process, make sure that you drive a car with six gears or install a full custom transmission. Then open the .ini and scroll to "240". This is the reverse gear ratio. Now remove the minus before the numbers and use a value that is less than the sixth gear ratio (scroll to 264 for the sixth gear ratio). For example if the sixth gear ratio is "1105", use "900" for the reverse gear ratio. If you see an enormous number when imported to GT3gEDIT means that is correct. Now save the file and insert the save to the your PS2 and have fun with the your seven gears car!

4) MAKING A MULTIPLE REVERSE GEAR CAR

Messing around with transmission ratios, you can obtain multiple reverse gears. You don't need any particular transmission, just scroll to the ratio settings in the .ini and remove the minuses, but this time don't remove it from the reverse gear, just make sure that this ratio have a smaller value than the your last gear if you want extra gears (works also for “seven geared” cars). Now driving is practically impossible... And if you want a really silly transmission, make the reverse a forward gear removing the minus also from the value "240".

Part Three: Parts Guide, Without .ini modification
Here are listed all of the “PARTS” types and own sub-categories

1) Region: this displays the region of the savegame. "JP" means Japan, "US" USA
and "EU" Europe
2) CarBase: the name of the car in game files
3) BodyColor: If a car have more than one color, you can change it to an
another. However if a car have only one or don't have a name will be a
number displayed instead of the color name
4) CarType: there are three types of cars: Road, Race and Dirt. However if you
change the car type in game won't have any effect
5) Brakes: you can chose between "Normal" and "Sport". The brakes are also
divided by the own brake power. These are:
- 26/19 (weakest brakes. Disponible only for Normal)
- 34/23 (only Normal)
- 44/28
- 57/34
- 74/41
- 96/50 (strongest brakes. Available only for Normal)
6) Brake controller: install a brake controller for increase the brake power.
There are three types:
- Adjustable: the standard brake controller for every car
- Adjustable Default: is unknown what does
- Normal Default: as above, but maybe a car comes out with an already
installed brake controller, so you don't need to buy one
7) Chassis: this can change the base weight and the wheelbase
8) Engine: permits to swap the engine to an another
9) Drivetrain & VCD: the drivetrain change is recommended when a hybrid have a
lot of Horse Power. I suggest to swap into a 4WD VCD. All
drivetrains are listed as "Normal" and only a 4WD can have
a VCD. The 4WD can have also a "Normal" counterpart. Then
the drivetrains are:
- FF Normal
- FR Normal
- MR Normal
- RR Normal (normally only the RUF RGT use it, but also
the hidden Porsche 911(996) GT3 use it)
- 4WD Normal
- 4WD VCD
10) Transmission: change the your actual transmission to an another. Useful if
a car haven't a Semi-Racing transmission and you don't want
buy a Full-Custom one. You can chose between these:
- Normal
- Sports
- Semi-Racing
- Full-Racing
11) Suspension: apply a more efficient suspension kit. You can chose between:
- Normal
- Sports
- Semi-Racing
- Full-Racing
12) LSD: now you can install an AYC Controller to every car. As Gran Turismo 2
is listed as a LSD upgrade. The LSDs are:
- Normal
- 1 way
- 1.5 way
- 2 way
- AYC (normally available only for Mitsubishi Evolution Lancers, but
here you can apply to all cars)
- Full
13) Front tyres: change the your tires to a better compound or bigger ones. You
can also give Dirt tires to cars that can go off road. You can
see also Rain tires (have also four different types, maybe is
the compound) and duplicate tires (signed with a "II" after
the name) in the list. The only tire that haven't duplicate
ones are Dirt tires. The choice is:
- Dirt
- Normal
- Normal II
- Rain (free10)
- Rain (free11)
- Rain (free23)
- Rain (free24)
- Simulation
- Simulation II
- Sports
- Sports II
- T2 II Super Hard
- T2 Super Hard
- T3 Hard
- T3 II Hard
- T4 II Medium Hard
- T4 Medium Hard
- T5 II Medium
- T5 Medium
- T6 II Medium Soft
- T6 Medium Soft
- T7 II Soft
- T7 Soft
- T8 II Super Soft
- T8 Super Soft
14) Rear tyres: same as the front tyres
15) 17: this is unknown what is. However you can chose between:
- Part 1
- Part 2
16) Weight reduction: with this option you can apply weight reduction to cars
that can't have one. You can chose between "Stage 1",
"Stage 2" and "Stage 3". As for the brakes are divided by
own improvements:
- Stage 1: 85%, 93%, 97% and 100%
- Stage 2: 89%, 93% and 100%
- Stage 3: 85% and 89%
17) Body & downforce: this will change not only the downforce of the car, but
functions also as body swap. There are three types of
downforces:
- Adjustable: you can tune both front and rear downforce
- Rear Adjustable: only the rear wing downforce can be
tuned
- Solid: impossible to tune the downforce
18) Polish: first part that can't be removed once installed. Adds 2% or 3% of
power
19) Balance: second part that can be removed. Adds 1% or 2% of power
20) Displacement: last part that can't be removed. Used normally only for
Nissan Skyline GT-Rs, Honda Civics and Mini Cooper 1.3i. Adds
3% of power for GT-Rs and 4% to Civics and Cooper
21) Computer: removable only in game and adds 3% or 4% of power
22) NA tune: with this option you can add N/A Tune Ups to turbo cars or cars
that can't have one. Chose between "Stage 1", "Stage 2" and "Stage
3". Power increments depends from parts and cars that have that
part. The most powerful is the Stage 3 from the Volkswagen New
Beetle 2.0. Adds 111% of power! More than the double of the total
HP! Mix with turbo and you will get hybrid monsters
23) Turbo: if you want a powerful hybrid, this is a must have. As said before
mix with N/A Tune Ups to gain an extreme amount of power. Instead if
you want a turbo gauge without any power increment, use a "Normal"
turbo. A strange part is "Not Present", that remove the turbo gauge.
This won’t affect the power of car, is only cosmetic as “Normal”.
Instead the most powerful turbo kit is the Stage 3 from the Suzuki
Alto Works (both standard and extra model). Adds an insane amount of
power, 221%. Over thrice of the total HP! The turbo kits are:
- Normal
- Not Present
- Stage 1
- Stage 2
- Stage 3
- Stage 4
24) Flywheel: Useful for cars that can't have modifications of it. You can
chose between:
- Sports
- Semi-Racing
- Full-Racing
25) Clutch: make faster change of gear applying improvements for the clutch.
The choices are:
- Normal
- Single Plate
- Twin Plate
- Triple Plate
26) Shaft: you can apply a Carbon driveshaft for FF/MR/RR cars with this
option, but maybe haven't improvements due that cars haven't it
27) Muffler: add a muffler for increase a bit the power. You can add one of
these three: "Sports", "Semi-Racing" and "Full-Racing". Power
increment are:
- Sports: 0%, 4% or 5%
- Semi-Racing: 6% or 8%
- Full-Racing: 0%, 8% or 10%
28) Intercooler: install one if you want a small power increment. You can chose
between "Sport" (adds 0% or 4% of power) and "Racing", that gives 8% of
power
29) ASM: the Active Stability Management. You can chose between three types:
- Special: the control is active, but you can't tune the power of it
- Normal: the standard one, deactivable and tuneable
- None: remove completely the ASM without the possibility to re-enable
30) TCS: the Traction Control System. As the ASM you can chose three types and
are the same:
- Special: active, but no way to tune
- Normal: deactivable and tuneable
- None: deactivated and impossible to re-enable
31) Wheels: you can change the wheels of the your car, but only with
aftermarket ones (from GT Auto Wheel Shop). To recognize a maker,
read the first two letters from the "OwnerFile" column. Here the
list:
- bb: BBS
- br: Bridgestone
- du: Dunlop
- en: Enkei
- fa: Falken
- oz: O.Z. Racing
- ra: RAYS Engineering
- sp: Speedline
- yo: Yokohama

Part Three: Parts Guide, With .ini modification
This part is the similar as the previous, but covers the values that can be modified only modifying the .ini of the your car (“SETTINGS”). You can use also values that you can't apply in game, like an ultra low ride height of 20mm or brake power of 100. Every value have a minus before. Removing it may be corrupted cars. The only proofed are gear ratios, that removing/adding the minus you will make the reverse gear a forward one and vice versa forward gears to multiple reverse gears. Scroll to "240" to see the first unmodifable value in GT3gEDIT, the reverse gear ratio

1) 240: reverse gear ratio

Part Five: 304 Editing
Not much is known about this, but fortunately there is a description to the side of each value, but some are not completely clear what happen if modified like "yes/no something?". I will limit to explain what I'm sure what a value does and suppose what other do.

1) Days: change the amount of days. You can use even a zero
2) Races: the amount of participation of races
3) Total (metric,2m/tick) Mileage: at 99% is the total miles driven. We will
see this string again further. I don't know what means
4) Wins: the amount of first places
5) Credits: you can have till 999,999,999 credits
6) Price total: the value of the your garage
7) Current car -1: appear twice and I don't know what is that value
8) Cars owned: the amount of cars that you have
9) Yes/no something: No idea what is
10) Player's name: in some way you can modify the name, but maybe only by the
own .ini
11) Continues how far: Still no idea what is
12) Here would be 64 bytes of name: maybe the limit of characters for the
player's name
13) Trophies acquired: The amount of bronze, silver and gold of licences
14) Bonus cars acquired: How many cars you have won
15) 0x12345678 if GTC 10M added: maybe setting this to "1" make the game to
think that the bonus was applied without Gran Turismo Concept

Part Six: Gran Turismo Concepts Support, selecting the game

GT3gEDIT supports also other two Gran Turismo: Gran Turismo Concept 2001 Tokyo and Gran Turismo Concept 2002 Tokyo-Geneva. Every other version like Gran Turismo Concept 2002 Tokyo-Seoul don't work. We will see also differences between Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec and Gran Turismo Concepts and also how to make an eight gears transmission. For selecting one of the two Concepts that supports you must:

1) Open GT3gEDIT and through "File" select "Game Version" and chose
between:
- GTC 2002 (Gran Turismo Concept 2002 Tokyo-Geneva)
- GTC 2001 (Gran Turismo Concept 2001 Tokyo)
2) Now you will see the garage, but this isn't an actual garage, is a
virtual one. The cars in this virtual garage are in order of appearance
in dealerships
3) When changing a car is recommended a 100% savegame for avoid problems
with replaced cars
4) A replaced car still have the body of the original car, or rather, if
you want a Lancia Stratos (hidden car) and you replace the Ford Ka, when
selecting the car will still the Ka, but once loaded the race will
become the Stratos

Part Six: Gran Turismo Concepts Support, Differences between Gran Turismo 3
Gran Turismo Concepts games have some differences between Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec. Them are:

- Power Multiplier: the default value is 1000 instead of 0
- Tire grip: only in Gran Turismo Concept 2001 Tokyo is 90 instead of 75
- Car Type: always only in Gran Turismo Concept 2001 Tokyo the three types of
car, Road, Race and Dirt are replaced by the numbers 1, 2, and 3
- Brake controller: like the car type "Adjustable Default" and "Normal Default"
are replaced by "Part 1" and "Part 2"
- Turbo: as for the brake controller also the "Not Present" is replaced by
"Part 1"

Part Six: Gran Turismo Concepts Support, making eight geared cars
This works same as Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec, but in Gran Turismo Concept games there is the Nissan GT-R Concept and the own LM model. Both are seven geared cars by default. If you want eight gears for other cars simply scroll to "transmission" and change the standard transmission with one of the GT-R Concepts. Open the .ini of the car and scroll to "268". This is the seventh gear ratio. Make sure that when you make an eight gear (240, reverse gear ratio) this value must be bigger. From 240 remember to remove the minus for making the reverse a forward gear
