I would love to, but I couldn't see any F or Ps in the car maker list....... :indiff:

Ahhh...if only the list had been moved down one car manufacturer below MG so we could see if Morgan is in :ouch:

this thread has too much poo...not enough info and too many flyes ....the damn game is only 7 days away RELAX!

ok never mind, what i meant to say in a nicer way, was thers too much to scroll through to find anything meaningful.

From attending AGS at Hong Kong was there a way you were able to see what fantasy tracks were in the game e.g red rock valley Grindlewald etc?- just curious

I totally agree with that. This is a thread about what was on the AGS, but people use it to start their personal conversations. It was the same with the Japanese demo. We wanted new info, but instead we get a thousand posts about how to download and burn it.
It's these things that totally remove my motivation to look through threads.

Now if PD wants us to be able to judge how realistic the physics are, all the aid needs to go damnit. sinner, alzard, how realistic were the physics in you all's opinion?

man, cobra, you've asked the same question like 1000 times, and each and evrytime a guy that has played it that has answered you (including me at some point) has told you that they are far superior to GT3, but lacking compared to sims like say.. richard burns rally. but the driving experience is just fine, don't worry about it.

He meant the ABS in GT4 is featured under the options for driving assists.

I hope it can be deactivated, because I took a drive in the Ferrari F355 Challenge simulator, and realized that racing without ABS is just incredible. After that, a game can't be a sim to me if ABS can't be de-activated.

well, racing with out ABS in F355 is a *****, i was pretty decent at that sim, but taking ABS out of such a powerful car is asking for trouble in any corner, ABS will actually make you faster in real life (as well as in games of course). so this is one aid i actually like (lots of true racing cars have ABS). TCS on the other hand, can actually slow me down.

I'm pretty sure that it was confirmed that it could be activated/deactivated...i could be wrong though.

ABS is the shiznit I would never deactivate it. 👍 but yeah would be nice if there was an option to disable it.

So there's a Spanish town? If so, only car company I know out of Spain is Seat (pronounced SAY-OT). Other than that, I know nothing more unless there's a race manufacturer out of Spain. And about all the different stuff mentioned in this thread, it's still a useful thread. As long as it isn't about a "n00b" question that has answers in at least 2 or 3 other threads, this one's perfectly fine. And any information (new or old) is still pretty relevant.

Having said that, good job to everyone involved in this coverage of AGS Hong Kong.

Playing with the abs on is like cheating. I activate it when my wife wants to play.

I think ABS adds almost an element of "cheating" to the game. Since all the cars have ABS, they're able to stop a lot quicker than their real-life counterparts. I've watched quite a few vids of real cars on various race tracks, and I've noticed they start braking a lot sooner than we do in our games. I think that's the ABS at works.. we can afford to brake late, because we can make it down to the right speed a lot sooner than a real race car can. For that reason alone, I'd like to see the option to shut it off.

It'll also add a greater element of realism, in that you can lock the brakes if you slam them too hard. It'll force us to drive in a more conservative, real-life kind of way.

While we're on the subject of brakes, I wouldn't mind seeing realistic brake wear during races. That's another reason real race drivers brake sooner.. because they've got to keep those brakes working at peak efficiency for the entire race. In GT, what do we care? Our brakes never wear out. I'd like to see it so that if we drive the way we do now, the brakes would be completely gone halfway through an endurance.

RE: brakes

I spent alot of the weekend playing GT4 prolouge (NTSC-J), I realized something - something that I always had issue with GT4p. When you turn driver aids off it is all gone, TC, ASM and ABS (?). When I first played GT4p I'd constantly lock the brakes and slide into the kitty liter. I never knew why until this weekend when I realized that (I think) ABS was off when driver aids were off. I learned to brake earlier and less jamming on the brakes GT3 style. I think many people had issue with the brakes in GT4p, they always said they never worked. Coming from GT3 they didn't feel that way. Did they?

Now with the GT4 demo I am currently playing (I must have spent over 150 hours playing it by now) driver aids can be switched off but TC stays on and the wheels never lock up GT4p style.

So who knows. I would love all aids to be switched off, including the damn shift/brake zone numbers/light...

Since I refuse to go through all the pages. I want to ask you sinner. When you see the backfire, do you feel it on the DFP?

Two questions:
Is Le Mans track totaly confirmed?
Is there any media from AGS? If there is put link or page number of this topic.

From GT3, you CAN disable the ABS And TCS. You can set the car to have both settings at 0, so if you don't need it, you don't have to. But unless you're talking about disabling these aids BY DEFAULT, then maybe you have a point. And note that I'm talking about going to you car's settings, then toning it all the way down to disable that certain driver aid for the car you're racing.

Technically (and not just) you're wrong.

ABS can't be switched off in GT3. That is the reason ww all got so excited by driving mechanics showed in Prologue, just because it was delivering an illusion that ABS is off. Unfortunately, it hasn't been.

In GT3 you could switch off ASC (a.k.a. Active Stablity Controller) and TCS (traction control). ABS was never part of setting up the car.

Guys, I think it was called ASM or active stability management, or atleast that's what I remember it was called here in the U.S.

Also, that was one of the things that ticked me off about GT3 - I would set up in the options that I wanted ASM and TCS off, but it didn't do anything....had to tune every car I ever drove in order to turn them off. The funny thing is, my Scoobie doesn't have ASM or TCS at all in real life, but it does in the game.

Check out Hispano Suiza. Those are some pretty nice cars.

That's because the ASM and TCS settings in the menu only affected arcade mode.

Yup, every car you bought or won in GT mode came with it.

Talking about that - what I would like to see for GT4 is more individualism when it comes to these systems. You know, like the German cars being limited to 155mph, and you have to go to the tuning shop and remove the limiter. Or, like you said, a traction control and stability system only if the car also has it in real life, and with the same behaviour. Porsche for example (I'm not saying they are in, it's just an example) have a totally different ASM compared to Mercedes, because they want to keep the car sporty, so theirs is less "sharp".

I wanna see more of that individualism! :dopey: 👍

Cheers,
the Interceptor

Porsche is also more about mechanical grip rather than traction control and things like that. I would like to see the RUFs sporting the same idea in GT4. On the other side is a car like the SL 65 AMG. That car has way too much power to put on the road. The traction control system limits the power greatly, just to keep the car from spinning out.

I used the dualshock... no, I didn't feel it in the controller... and correct me if I'm wrong, but when a real car backfires, isn't it true that you shouldn't be able to feel it anyway...?
