You all (or most of you i guess:) know that GT series (especially GT4) are very similar to real life car-races and testing that "Best Motoring" team does.

They use real life stock cars, compare them in ~3 lap races around various circuits, ~6 cars at a time, they have the same "total time, fastes lap, gap" information on the screen, they mix up their field with tuned cars, they comapre highly tuned cars only, etc ,etc

I think the whole idea for PD came from watching those videos ,etc.

BM crew very often test their cars on Tsukuba circuit, and GT4P has it as well :D

I was watching video of '99 BM test onboard Honda S2000 @ Tsukuba circuit and the straight line top speed was ~165km/h.
Last corner entry speed ~120km/h

Then i decided to try it with GT4P , took S2000 , went to the straight line , building up speed and.....164km/h before slight braking   , entry speed for last corner ~120km/h (and if i try more - i would run wide and crash).

Thats nice :) I don't remember my lap times, but they are very similar to real ones too.. I hope final GT4 and all other cars will have these realistic physics.

P.S. One thing i noticed though, that in 2nd gear "real" S2000 can reach ~105km/h while in GT4P gear ratios are little bit different and i could build up to 120km/h...but maybe this is due to arcade mode / different s2000 version

:)

I think it's just the automotive culture out there. The Japanese are still very much purists in terms of car performance and tuning, so they use the only logical way of comparing performance cars: race them on a technical circuit with pro GT drivers at the wheels. That way they don't have to try to explain the cars' performances, you can see it for yourself.

Interesting info tho, nice to see that GT4 is as accurate as they say it is. Oh yeah, the S2000 was altered this year with suspension changes and such; wouldn't surprise me if the gearbox was tweaked.
