GT4 compatible with early PS2s?

[KoukiFC3S]

Hey,
I found a launch Japanese PS2 but I heard that GT4 had trouble working with those.
Is it true?

Only in very rare cases of worn-out systems (i.e. eighteen hours a day, seven days a week, for five years).. it's a PS2 game.. and a PS2 is a PS2 is a PS2. It's "compatible" with all of them.

Well hopefully I can play my copy. =)
Thanks

It works, my PS2 decided it had given all it had to give though.. it broke down yesterday, i had even ordered a copy of GT4 allready, hopefully i can find the parts to fix it here. (early Japanese ps2 version too)

I am running it on a first generation JDM console, model number 10000. Other than the intro, which stutters badly, it works fine.
