GT4 not working with DS1 controller

i have both a dualshock 1 and 2 controller, and also more than one ps2. for some reason the ds1 dosent work with gt4 on any of my ps2s. the controller works fine in gt3 but not gt4. is there a way i could fix this?

Seems the issue is the controller? I actually use a DS1 for GT4 and it works properly.. Actually for some reason everytime i boot up the game i have to unplug it and plug it in again for it to work, bur other than that, it works.

Saved my day. I have this problem as well using a brand new DS2 controller, didn't work with my previous controllers.
Doensn't happen with the EU version though! However, no 480p in the EU version...
Really weird problem.
