GTA is fantastic but has an 18 certificate, that excludes a huge amout of people who own PS2's

btw Football has started, come on united 👍

Well the last game sold something crazy like 4 million in 3 months and that had an 18 rating  Halo 2 will get crushed by GTA which will shift a load of PS2's for Sony . :)

Despite the PS2 being a rather 'old' console it is still very competitive and selling well.....even more so with games such as GT4 and GTA SA......it has quite a good run of new games all the time......Gosh in the end I wonder how many PS2's will be sold worldwide when it is finally discontinued!

Don't worry, that wasn't Utd's first team. They're all resting for the European game later in the week, no point risking injuries on o players in a charity match.

True, still it counts in head to heads, I have to face some arsenal fans tommorow :grumpy:

Alan Smith showed promise 👍 And before we get flamed for talking about the beautiful game in a GT4 thread, I thought everyone that actually lived in Manchester was a City fan :)

A lot are, but most of my mates happen to be Utd fans and most of them are from Manchester, there are more City fans here but theres still a hell of a lot of Utd fans too. Anyway back to GT4 I believe KY is the vice president of SCEJ.

Silvestre is an arse and why the hell did you keep Diego 'Donkey' Forlan?

By the way we have a soccer (sic) forum so err, on topic yo!

If you've read it somewhere then I believe you. :) All I can find is this guy

Tomikazu Kirita, Senior Vice President, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan.

and this one

Masatsuka Saeki, Vice President SCEJ

Maybe KY just doesn't like to boast :)

Anyway back on topic..I believe KY when he says that they intend to release b4 xmas. That was a recent interview, and the only thing that was preventing him from guaranteeing it, was that the game is not yet finished, so there may be unforseen problems.

Don't belieive it because I say so, I've been told, any info I've tried to find thats related is in Japanese.

If they were to wait for GT4 to be "done" before it was released, we'd be waiting at least another 5 years. Kaz will always be finding new stuff he wants to put in the game, and unless he has a specific goal and deadline for the current edition, he'd never get a game out the door.

Ahh..Feature Creep, the number two reason why projects don't come in on time and budget :)

Maybe PD have been reading GT Planets wish lists and are forever adding things

The interview that came out the other day kind of eluded to that.
He said it was hard to quantify how complete the game was.
For the most part the Cars and Tracks and AI are pretty much done, Although additions will be made uptill the game is complete.
Its the entertainment thats Left to do, mostly IMO the organizing of events and progression through the game all the way up to deciding the difficulty of each event, selelcting car lists for those events and then testing, to keep it interesting, and obviously then there is the design of all the Menus, to match up with these events.

He gave a 75% figure, but eluded to the fact that as additions are made he finds further ideas, and therefore this figure seems to remain static.
He did also acknowledge that they really do hope to be ready by year end.
He has to know that a time will come when he has to say enough is enough for the advancement of GT4, and have to stop developing new ideas.
They have obviously made incredible advancement in the game routines that i believe that KY feels he could achieve so much more had he had more time.
I think he feels that he still isnt using 100% PS2 power.

P.S Logitech will be Really Miffed if they dont get it out before this Xmas, as they really will make most sales of hardware like this in the Xmas season.
Post Xmas cash is limited, and while game sales may still be good, the demand of DFP as a gift will not be there.

I've said it in another thread, I think Sept Tokyo Game Show will tell the tale as to weather we'll see it this year.

for the last timeNO NO NO!!! :ouch:

How do you know for sure?? Got any "official" release date from Sony or PD you wanna share?? It will be kinda disappointing if they can't make the Xmas season, but If the game need more work or find tuning (especially about online play issues) I do not mind at all. Rushing it out with crappy online play and connection/lag problem will damage the franchise for sure.

The guy said roughyl 75%, but this was no exact number he was just sort of summing it up. 25% seems like alot to do in a couple months, considering how big the game is.

my point is that KY KNOWS HIS crew and doens´t make any WRONG promisses!!!
...when he says "x-mas u can buy GT4!" it´ll be so.....and when he says "we had some little problems which we´re going to solve so that GT4 comes out in 2005" it´ll be so....
but he din´t say that they have to solve little problems or to correct some things yet!!!
...so u can be SUR FOR NOW that GT4 is going to come out decembre ombre!!!

GT one lover, PD are a dev house like any other, they are not some uber gods. Games are done when they are done, end of story.

Yeah I was thinking that.

How long has GT4 been in development? I would guess at least since GT Concept came out. That was 2002. So around two years for GT4 so far.
25% of two years would be six months. I think that interview was in late July so six months would be January. But I don't think it will be out then. It'll probably be out December. As stated earlier there has to be a point where you say enough is enough. Unless there is something seriously wrong or something that does not work the development has to end eventually. Kaz will have to let go of his baby :)

Juiced and Burnout 3 will be out in less than a month, GT4's release will be an after thought and it will be out before you know it when these 2 soon to be great racing games are released. :)

Delayed ill 05, oh well. NFSU2 and forza will fill the void between Burnout 3, Juiced and GT4.

PSM was told that it would be released sometime by November.

I'll be playing Burnout 3 though, if a delay happens. The demo is awesome, and very addiciting, even if you only do 1 race.

PSM's official release date for GT4 is November 14, but remember, this is PSM's date, not the PD/Sony official release date. The only thing that PD has said lately regarding the release of GT4 was that it wouldn't be delayed anymore.

That's what I've heard...That it won't be delayed anymore.
