With the NA release only days away, and drift forum traffic sure to pick-up even in the weeks to come, I would like to suggest/implement the following for the GT4 Drift Forum:

I would like to start a sticky thread containing a link to one of each of the following:
1 - a Fav/Best Drift Car Thread
2 - a Fav/Best Drift Venue Thread
3 - drift strategy (not detailed drift guides, just personal strategy)

the thread could then be locked and only serve as a place to hold those links.

Hopefully such an idea would relieve the type of congestion seen in the GT3 drift forum, especially since I heard word that the drift forum wasnt going to have the same thread screening as the main forum. These types of threads were created on a weekly or bi-weekly basis by newer members, and as you may have seen, such a thread regarding tracks has already appeared even prior to the North American release - though it has gone off-topic and into GT3 territiory for now.
I also hope this idea, if implemented, might ease the merger of the GT3 drifting crowd with the new faces bound to appear in GT4 by removing redundant threads that seem to annoy the more senior members.

So, with moderator approval permitting I would like to follow through on the creation of the 3 threads. 1 - the link thread to be stickied, and 2 and 3 - the fav/best car and track threads to be linked to. The thread on strategy has already been created by another member.
I don't believe the fav and best distinction warrants having 2 threads about cars and 2 about tracks, one about each that groups them together should be sufficient in my opinion.

If it seems like a manageable task I might keep a running tally in the first post of each thread to see which cars and which tracks get the highest approval ratings, updated weekly or on whatever interval seems appropriate.

Feedback and further suggestion is welcome. If any mods would like to contact me about this idea my contact info for AIM and MSN is openly available, or you may PM me.

My only suggestion is that the GT4 Drift forum be moderated like the GT4 forum is at the moment, that being all threads being created must be checked before showing up. I'm sure some of the regular drift forum posters would appreciate the cleanliness and I'm sure they would be willing to help.

TS, if you want to make those threads, I'll post the LOOK HERE thread and sticky it.

I would recommend just for the sake of thread size that you do make a tracks thread and a cars thread. Inevitably there will be spillover but I think it might get unwieldy to have both in one.

PM me when you have them created to your satisfaction.

thanks fr that ND
and that is exactly what i meant, though i wasnt sure how clearly I had expressd myself

1 thread about favorite drift cars and best drift cars (all jumbled together, no need for two spearate threads)

1 thread about favorite and best drift tracks

i'll go about doing so right now
thanks for the timely reply

edit: hrm, shoulda looked at my clock
I'll do it in about an hour - i have a class across the road in 10 mins

OK, done. There was nothing wrong with your links thread; I just wanted that thread to come from a staff member.

hehe, ya no problems. :) I assumed that was the case.
Thanks again for accepting my idea, and I truly hope (and believe) that it will prove beneficial and contribute to the community as a whole.

As I said before my thread got 'hijacked' :p I feel it should definitely promote some semblance of structure and organization within the drift forum - and remove some of the free for all, winner take all type of atmosphere that would sometimes develop in the GT3 forum. I hope it will allow for the forum to be browsed with less frustration by new members, and returning veterans from the GT3 drift forum alike, and ease their merger.

edit: btw, your rendition of the link thread sounds much more eloquent than mine did. Good job, and keep up the good work. This place would be a nightmare without the excellent moderation this place recieves from the moderator team. I don't think you guys hear that enough.

that would actually be an interesting idea - to get a drift guide composed by a bunch of the 'GT3 drift forum regulars' (if I qualify for such a group - i only got active again in late november)

I'll catch you on AIM again sometime and we can talk about it, I may mention t to a few other guys that I'm fairly social with too
