It has come to my attention that nobody knows who the best driver in GT4 is. I personaly don't think there can even be a "best", I believe there is always someone better. But there is only one way to find out and that is a competition. The competition will have to work on the honor system because some people can't provide proof. The only prize will be bragging rights and maybe some respect.

Rules:
*no race cars
*only sports or standard tires
*car has to be between 3.450-3.599 power/weight ratio
*driving aids must be all off (set to 0)

We will vote between Midfield Raceway and Laguna Seca Raceway. Only vote once. First track to three votes will be the one for the competition. Send the votes to me and I'll tally them and post the winner as soon as there is one.

To compete, just build a car within the restrictions listed in the rules and complete a few laps on the designated track(to be decided). After you have tested the car and tuned it to your likings just do a few more laps and post your fastest time.

I wish everyone the best of luck and may the best driver win.

Not really a spot race though is it?

Or is it?

*is confused*
Sounds like fun. I don't tune cars but I'd even join in!

Hi there.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with our "Weekly Race Series"?
This was a GT4 competition that ran over the course of 184 weeks (over 3 years!) and determined the fastest GT4 drivers in a different car/track combo each week.

The Weekly Race Series Archive

If you want to see how you stack up against :gtplanet:'s best, you should try some of these combos, sticking within the posted rules and bearing in mind that all the gold times have been verified as clean and correct by use of MAX Drive replay files.

Go to page 2 onwards of the archive and you'll find the week 184 combo & week 184 results threads. You can work back from there.
Be prepared to provide proof if you're going to claim to be faster than the Div. 1 winner for each week! ;)

Your contest to find the fastest driver seems a little flawed from the outset.
If you don't set a fixed combination of car, tuning and track, there's no way to determine if the fastest person is actually the fastest driver, or just has the quickest & best tuned car.
If you're all driving the same car, same tyres, same tuning specs and same power, then the difference in times is down to the driver.

I'm no tuner myself (I prefer the challenge of wringing everything possible out of a stock chassis), but I'm happy to race within a known set of parameters if you care to lay down a few challenges. :)

If you're up for setting up the challenges, it can take place in here, or with a link out to the Spot Race & Laptime Comparison forums. 👍
