"As E3 approaches, what are purporting to be provisional details of one of the biggest games on the planet have emerged. Gran Turismo 4 is likely, barring the announcement of something catastrophically huge, to be Sony's biggest title of the show by a mile, and from initial reports it's set to shake the very foundations of gaming.
The major addition to the series that is already widely known is full online play, via the PS2 Network Adaptor. According to the latest reports, GT4 will feature online play for up to eight players simultaneously, support for voice communication via headset, and online vehicle trading to add an extra frisson of excitement.

But for the trading aspect to count, there needs to be a wide range of sexy motors to lust after. GT3 wasn't exactly deficient in this area, but GT4 will reportedly boast a staggering 2,000 vehicles and an equally mind-bending 100 tracks. \Eek. And considering the attention to detail Polyphony Digital likes to lavish on each motor, this could be the ultimate wet dream for car lovers.

The official public unveiling is only weeks away, but the select few privileged enough to have laid eyes on the game so far have been amazed. One Sony insider, operating under strict conditions of anonymity, told us: "It looks astonishing - and what they're doing with the online side will genuinely blow people away."

But such gaming justice comes at a heavy price. "It's still a long way from completion, though - it's looking like Autumn 2004 at present." Bah!

If we don't burst with excitement first, expect the full low-down direct from the showfloor in a few weeks."

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes..

WICKED

Sucks with the 2004 date though :grumpy:

If the game has 2000 cars, how many cars can I have in my memory card? I don't care if the game takes up 7,5Mbs on the card, as long as I can have more than 80% of the cars on it... that was one of the major flaws in GT2, and one of the glorified features in GT3... or produce a 20Mb memory card, I don't care...

that information is absolutely ridiculous.
but lez wait to the thing theyll show @ E3.

Cano

Now thats what i talking about, just can't wait!!!

Waiting, waiting, tick tock, mmmm.......

GTConcept can not keep me happy for long.

Haha. I'm willing to bet the lives of my entire family that this game will not have 2000 cars and 100 tracks.

I'll bet the lives of your family, too, Klos. But they'll be pretty safe, I think. That would take multi-DVDs. And besides, 100 tracks? I don't even know how to drive the first dozen tracks that well.

I've said this before: they don't need to make the graphics any better (though a few more non-Japanese cars would be nice) if they just make two things:

1) Intelligent AI

2) A better race/league structure, with real entry restrictions and themed races.

Short and long versions of some existing tracks would be nice.

Autumn 2004!?!  :banghead: :boggled: :ouch: It can't be that long away can it? :odd: :(

I don't. I'm thinking more like 750 cars, if we're lucky.

are you kidding? 500 ALONE is a number NOBODY can complain about....i mean, with the sheer quality of the cars in GT3....i'm quite happy with 250!

Yeah I agree, even 500 cars would satisfy my automotive appetite. :D

I would think that around 500 cars including some old school muscle and maybe a new racing league type car entered into the series would be great. As for tracks I would be happy with 15 to 25. I do agree with Neon over the AI intellegnece and race structure too. I believe those are the two things that will always keep the game from becoming a perfect ten. Come on PD, listen to your fans here.

Personally rather wait an have PD get it right then rush it through, seems hard to comprehend can improve an already great game.

That seems awfully far away though. I thought it was rumoured to hit Japan by late this year/early next year.

I think the 100 tracks is a bit far fetched.

At least it's rumoured to have Spa-Francorchamps and Suzuka.

well thats what I read in my psw magazine I did read about the 2000 cars and including of damage but I thought thoughs subjects have already been posted. Besides if it holds 2000 cars it might aswell hold 100 different tracks

Yeah I know, but the thing is it just wouldn't be feasible for them to have 2,000 cars and 100 tracks, it wouldn't fit, and would cost a fortune, anyway....

Back to the subject at hand. :)

I would so rather have had an on line version of GT3 6 months ago and gt4 on PS3. That way they could really take their time with GT4 and improve GT3 online at the same time with updates like a computer game, you would need a Hard drive to do that. Anyway that won’t happen. I’m just worried that GT4 wont be ready in time and it will just be pushed back for the PS3.
