Halo is smeggin superb, I've played it so much now, that I'm just about as accurate with the pad as I am with the mouse on the pc one, sad eh. Halo ain't slow, it's perfect I tell you, perfect!

theres a reason why everyone doesnt do that FatAssBR, beacuse PC's are SO much better.
ya, and so much expensive... HL2 is gonna look better on Xbox than on my PC. And I like to play on consoles, I´m not too much of a PC fan when it comes to games. Even with Shooters.

perfect enough to make me buy my own x-box gamepad for anyway... no x-box just the pad..a small size one which is actually how they should have been from the start. but we wont go there

"thats one hell of a reaistic alien!" i can make reaistic, i can sit down with maya for a few days and make a near photorealistc car. how much longer would it take to make a near photorealistic person? and then theres the fact that cars have animated.... wheels... wipers? somethimes.... and all the acting skills of a brick. unfair comparison

I'm quite sure forza is 60...[/QUOTE]

:)...And I'm pretty sure it's not. PGR2 runs in at only 30fps (great-looker, though), and there's no possible way that Forza, being better looking, will be running at anything past 30 fps (E3 demo ran at 30 fps, trailer I saw on that episode of G4's Cinematech ran at 30 fps). If it does, I'll be a bit more than surprised, but if it doesn't, then GT4 will own it. Still, we'll know for sure exactly just how strong the Xbox really is at racing games, and if Forza can't run at 60 fps, then the Xbox might not be as good at racing games as we all once thought (hell, PGR2 sorta made me think about it).

HL2 looks very surreal and no vid of HL2 has looked as realistic as any gt4 vid I have seen.

 cobra, even this relatively boring screenshot look more realistic than GT4 :

RalliSport Challenge 2 runs @ 60fps & is a great game, best rally game I've played I'd say. Even better then the WRC series.

The only bad thing about PS2 so far is that there is no AGP support (maybe just a little)! Otherwise it whould looked much more clean, i hope ps3 will support it.
A few of the pics of GT4 is with AGP support, you konw the pics with Falken skyline R34 on Nurb, those pic are made on computer and it has AGP support.

first of all, yes, Doom 3 is a badly made game, they spent more time making the game look "pretty" than they did making the game actually fun or playable.

but were arguing graphics here, so i'll stick with graphics.
Doom 3 has sweet graphics, yes this is true, but when you require nothing short of the SGI Onyx2 IR Supercomputer to run the game on full graphics, you tend to make the connection that even sloppy coding and sloppy modelling that just happens to have 3 times the poly count of anything on PS2 will definately give you some amazing graphics.

PD and GT4 won the award not because they had the most incredible graphics, but because they took a platform thats 3 years behind everything else and put a game on it thats as good, if not better than 95% of the current generations graphical capabilities. they won the award because they proved that they have the skill and talent to make use of every inch of the PS2's graphical capabilites to its fullest capacity.

GTLXR, that's because your eyes are broken. It's a piece of wood, with most of it submerged under some damn impressive water effects. All of this in a rather nicely drawn stone passage way.

Realistic?

I cant even tell what thats supposed to be :yuck:

Yeah, theres a full size pic somewhere but I ran out of patience before I found it ;) Hence I said it was relatively boring screenshot.

Anyway you should still be able to see it looks pretty realistic, especially the very nicely bumpmapped wall & water. That pic was taken from the Video Stress Test for Half-Life 2 & was also seen in the E3 2003 videos.

Actually the thing about doom that is so special and so groundbreaking, is that you don't need a super computer to run it on high. Infact they actually rewrote some of the game inorder to support about 30 grahic chipsets. So wether you run it on ultra 2600*1800 and 16 AA* or low and 680*460* with AA off doesn't matter. You both get the feel of the game and you both get to marvel in the techonogly. Just wait and see some of the games coming up in the next 2 years with the Doom3 engine. You think Quake engine was cool you have no idea.

As for Halo 2, I don't know how microsoft does it with a console. The game is on par with anything from the CPU. Given, X-box does run on about the fastest Nvidia card on the market. It still shocks me with what they can do. PS2 is far behind pretty much everything and I'm still surprised with what they got it to do for GT4. They only reason that I even play PS2 even is for Madden and GT...I got nothing left.

Even though the pid doesn't look realistic like any gt4 pic I have seen, I wouldn't mind a vid of hl2 that looks more realistic than any gt4 vid out there. Can you provide, pics can only go so far.

Theres plenty of HL2 vids out there, but I'm too lazy to search through them all. Even if I did you'd probably say GT4 looks more realistic, so there isn't much point. ;)

I have some hl2 vids, powered by blink. Dont get me wrong, they look amazing, damn amazing, realistic, but not as realistic looking as gt4.

My pc is relatively new with a good VGA card and D3 just doesn't run well (at times not at all). I play the game on high, because that is what I'm supposed to be able. I don't even want to think about lower settings because I spent a load of money to be able to run high spec games.
The reason why D3 needs an uber pc is mainly because it makes use of bsp's for moddeling whereas Unreal for example has switched to meshes. If ID made D3 with meshes, it could look just as good, but you could run it at least 3 times as fast.

Is this 'good VGA card' a TNT2 by any chance? :sly:

I don't see th epoint on running the game on high when it runs crap and not lowering the settings even though it would make the game more playable, are you trying to make a point to the makers of the PC or the game? Because all your doing is destroying your own fun that you could be having with a good game.

cobragt & codekev - Do you think about anything else other than arguing with each other about GT4's graphics?

You've been around long enough to know the answer to that one

I was driving to work the other day and I noticed that the view out the windscreen was not as realistic as GT4 etc ;)

Well, code and I have to argue every once in a while. You can't have good and no bad. :)

Well , I guess most people appreciate outstanding graphics....thats the first thing I notice anyway. GT4s graphics will be more than good enough to satisfy my eye-candy tastes. 99% others tastes as well.

Exactly. Nothing more to add.

trust me, inless you have a 2500 dollar CPU you shouldn't be running Doom on high. It needs a 256 BIT and is recommended that you have a 512 BIT (not mb,althought you do need that to.) Part of your problem is that you have already made up your mind about it and are too stubborn to tell me that I might be right!! :)

I have a AMD 3200+ 64 bit, 768 MB Ram and a 9700 PRO and it runs PERFECT on high. (And no, it's not a monster pc. 64 bit is useless atm and my 9700 PRO is from Club3d, need to tweak that biatch down because the cooling is BAD) I can even run it in Ultra when i unrar the .Pak4 files and that runs ok. Sometimes it stutters (if i open the first door in a new level , takes 2 seconds so it isn't a problem for me so i'm running it in ultra, but it sucks when there is a Imp behind THAT door :) ). Running cataclyst 4.8 drivers.

The specs for Doom3 are high, indeed, but not THAT high.

"Oh no, the specs are way to high for my pc! I can't run it, stupid ID!!!" And guess what, it runs good on almost every pc from the past 2 years. It was part of the hype (that's what i'm thinking) and it worked well. "oh wait, he can run it and he has the same pc as me! Ok, now i'm going to buy it!". Good strategy ID. Good job.
