Just like the highly popular, highly-expensive Sega-Rosso's Initial D sequels, what if Sony/Polypony Digital would come out in an arcade version of Gran Turismo series along with the Playstation version. With your PS-series type memory card to upload/save the progress in the game, just like Initial D.

That would be fun. :)

For several reasons....biggest one being: Let those Initial D kids know that their beloved racers are super ultra unrealistic and that the way they drive them(freaking slide thru the corners) won't get them fast at all!

second reason would be.... a chance for GT fanatics like us to shine in the arcades :dopey:

:odd: That might be a good idea, but it's probably not going to happen.

I think it's a bit too big for the arcades. Besides almost everyone interested in an arcade version would own GT4 anyway so why would they then pay £1 for a go?

Duh, I made this topic first!!! See for yourself:

Here it is.

:dunce:

That thread's a bit old isn't it?

Vanishing Boy, kalasend,

Unlike Daimler-chrysler, this was a honest and even merger.

Enjoy the subject and discussion.

L4S: ->Yeah, its more than a year old, I presume. :)

Go Kents: ->Thanks for the fusion, I trully apreciate it! 👍

Chances are, with arcade machines, you get better graphics and possibly even better computing power for better driver AI (not sure in GT4 but in GT3 cars are still kinda dumb)

Plus, it's better if you do 2 player (or more than that) with everybody having equally good video/audio equipments. Don't know about you but you certainly won't find two 36" TV in my house.....

Anyways, it's just a better experience, i believe. Plus like i mentioned, audience is important :)

This is the best thing I've read in the GT4 forum. 👍

No problem.

Remember, you guys wanted us to help clean up the gt4 forum and that's what you are all gonna get. :trouble:

As for gt4 in arcades, especially in America. :(

Don't think it will happen.

Just not enough demand for arcades over here, but I will say this...

If 30 million or so copies of gt4 alone are sold, maybe, just maybe we will see 1 or 2 major arcades bring a gt4 station to the US.

However, I don't think that's gonna happen, so oh well.

But hey, just for speculation...

Wouldn't it be great if they had a large screen arcade machine with driver's seat and wheel, only instead of leaving the package like that, add a ps2 memory card port.

Just like F zero for the arcade in japan, we could bring our mem cards in, download our garage and then whip the game with an awesome custom simulation racer setup.

Any way,
Later. :D

i dunno if any of you know what playdium is, but in mississauga ontario theres this thing called playdium or sega city and its like a giant arcade with like go karts and all these other things outside...and i was there and i saw an initial D thing and im like wow ive never seen this but ive heard all about it and tried it...and well...id rather trade that for a gt4 arcade, that would be awesome...they even have like this indy 500 thing where like 8 cars race the indy 500 hundred and theyre mock up indy cars...it would be awesome if they did something like that for gt4 for arcades

I LUV to see GT in the arcades with a proper clutch/shifter, but sadly I highly doubt this would be popular for a couple reasons:

#1 - It's too "realistic", ever see people play Ferrari Challenge? 90% of them either don't know how to drive a stick or they go flying off the course into the dirt because they think the brake pedal is there for looks.

#2 - It would have a pretty high learning curve, again much like Ferrari Challenge.

Personally, I would go nuts and buy this cabinet as soon as it came out, but it just doesn't make sense to have such an expensive game that only talors to a marginal crowd in an arcade full of...well... arcade style racers.

Gt4 in arcade mode, with full moving cabinates etc would be damn cool imo :)

Definitely it would.

They could make a shorter arcade version, like GT Prologue for example.
Just 5 tracks and 20 cars or so.

I haven't heard much on the topic of arcade boards for quite a while, hell the last time I can recall was when we were marvelling that the Dreamcast and uh, Virtua Fighter 4 I think shared similar hardware. The difference would be if there was a board custom developed for GT, in which case they could include whatever hardware they needed to run the game as they dream of running it, and it'd be optimised beyond all belief. In that case, it'd be good, you might get better AI, more opponents, etc. Will it happen? No. Cost of development of the title itself, the hardware and then to release it when the majority of arcade goers aren't going to enjoy the intense realism GT offers won't work. You'd wind up with a bastardised version with less cars, perhaps less tracks, no tuning options, and it wouldn't reflect what GT is really about.

Vanishing Boy, don't disappear on me now... let me speak my mind on a GT4 arcade deal.

And this time, I'm going a sort of different route with this topic. In a "what if" situation, what if GT4 makes it to arcades? Well, if you have the money and resources, racing would be big for one reason- online-enabled arcade terminals. As an avid gameplayer, I once played an arcade golfing game called "Golden Tee." This was the 1999 version. So when I was a student of Lamar University, there was a regular version at my dorm, then at the pool hall on campus, there was this "Golden Tee: Tournament Edition." The big differences I could spot was that this Tournament Edition had more vibrant graphics, nationwide gaming tournaments (even Alaska and Hawaii), and I think I once knew someone who played in a tournament place in Beaumont, TX, USA. So, as good as GT4 is going to be, if it hit arcades, can you imagine six different GT4 consoles playing at once via the Internet? And what if several terminals in America had regional games? I mean, there would be like, tournaments for New England, Midwest, Northwest, Pacific, Southwest, Southeast, and Alaska and Hawaii. Arcade games are all about competition. So multiplay would attract a lot of people.

The single player experience, however, is still nothing short of impressive. I don't think it would pack the arcade excitement of Daytona USA and Super GT/SCUD Race from what I played (did you know it will almost be 10 years since Daytona USA came out?) Maybe if you can put in your Memory Card into a slot and race your car against someone else, that would be fun as well. I don't think it will happen, but I just wanted to get you jacked. Did I?

i think they have an arcade board thats almost the same as the ps2. something 246... i think tekken 4 was based on that board. so porting it to arcade shouldnt be too hard. but i think all the courses that they used would have to have boarders and no sand traps just so that none runs off the course too badly. also, theyd have to make it so people could do that xport things and alter cars. but itd be fun, especially with 6 attached cabs.

Why bother releasing an arcade machine when you could just build up 6 sweet seat, wheel, pedals and screen combos with 6 PS2's and Ilink/LAN them and have a 7th screen showing replays in a room...

I reckon that would work just as well and be popular because a lot of people can't get online and/or have the hardware for it...

In fact.... that might be a good business oppurtunity!!

I have thought of this many times. Itd be a great idea and shouldnt be too hard too difficult to create. If they were to make ,as unlikely as it is, all it would take is the kind of race pod thing they have at E3 and a checkpoint timer on courses like all arcade games have. It'd be perfect for anyone who has the urge to play GT while out and about (ignoring the PSP version cos theres no way thatll support the Driving Force pro wheel, which im sure an arcade version would/should have) As for tthose who say the game would be too big, the console version already has a quick arcade mode which is all an arcade version would need.

Man, this thread that I created and abandoned a year ago and I didn't know that it will be this interesting!

Actually, before I was a die-hard arcade racer since I was 5 yrs old playing the original Out Run (on the Testarossa) before any of the consoles break lose. I also played Daytona USA 1, Ferrari F355 Challenge and of course Initial D. Id like to mix the benefits of these 3 games and fuse them together. Like have a 6 player link (Daytona), the simulation feeling (F355 Challenge), and the memory card system (Initial D). And I think this combo will result to be the ultamate arcade racer. Al they have to do is to work out with Sega-Rosso and let the games begin!!!

Or, include the PS2 memory card that can be compatible (like international-spec Dance Dance Rovolution dancing game). In which you can enable to use your own customized car that are included in the 'Prolouge' carlist, not all the cars in your memory card on your GT4 memory.

Just a thought. :)

Umm off topic but in the look here thread wheres the free porn???

Hahahahaha, I can tell you all about that but shhhhhhhhhhh.

OO is it a secret. All i got in there was stupid info that a NEEWB should be reading. Oh it must be a vidoe link.

I'm betting you already know where it all is.

Well I've come back from holiday & I was dissapointed the Initial D arcade machine was gone :( being a 'fan' of the series I really enjoyed it. Of course its not realistic at all but its all good fun & great for chucking the wheel around with. My bro never beat me once last time (hehehe). Pity the PS2 version is arse.

Played Thrill Drive 2 instead, like a pre-PS2 version of Burnout, but atleast it had a V70 estate :D

Heh, last time I had a go F355 Challenge (the Full machine 3 screens, gears, even a clutch) was before I'd even started my driving lessons (Had a few goes in a car park, thats about it) & found the gears to be poo, but it was probably just me being poo at the time, since i kept skipping 2 gears at a time  (Still passed my test a few months ago now, first time I feel I must add, so watch out soon, my cars soon to go in for its MOT (& hopefully pass) ;)).

Personally I don't care if GT went in the arcades, as has been pointed out most people will own it anyway. Much like the Quake arcade machines, which as far as I know never appeared.

Where did you go?

o_O When the hell did free porn come into this??

I managed to completely overlook the potential for online play, which was pretty damn stupid because if there's anything you can try and sell an arcade game to people on it'd be the ability to race the guy beside you or 3000k away.

Oh, and as for arcade being smaller - the main content remains the tracks and cars, but it'd certainly drop size.

live4speed
Where did you go?

Paignton, Devon. The arcade was on the pier :) Be the 2nd time I've been now I think.

I tell ya one thing, even though their by the sea, theres alot of old bangers in good nick down south (Also alot of faggy boy racer cars too :D)

I went there myself, I can't really remeber it though it was 16 years ago.
