GT4 'loading' clock turned red after adjusting laser

my GT4 wouldn't load at all, so I tried adjusting the laser height by the white knob under the laser cover
now, GT4 starts but when tracks, replays etc are loading sometimes the little loading clock turns red and if I tilt the ps2 it turns white and loads as usual

any ideas people ??

just re-adjusted it and it has went back to grey...
must mean it's not reading I guess? wierd how it started ok though

Sometimes it's in colour, other times it's black and white.

thought it was more a ps2 question tbh...
anyway, GT4 is the only game that works in my ps2 now, DVD's, backups etc won't work, so once GT4 has worn off (hopefully a long time) I think it's new ps2 time
