^ No, he's just a scenester ("Im a city nightclub guy and i can tell you that here nobody listen to these songs anymore.") with bad taste in music. I was damn happy to see some guitar gods on the album, along with the venerable Judas Priest. And that Japanese group with about a half-dozen songs on the soundtrack? I feel compelled to go pick some of that up the next time I go out to the record store.

My advice is play the game for more than one day. Then maybe come here and start saying what you disliked.

Orrrrrrrrr, you could follow the rules, use the search button to find many many many many many many similar topics to this, and others have even made threads for suggestions that would make "Gran Turismo 5" better than 4.

And no the Music Tracks don't suck, focus on the racing more and you won't notice it as much.

well..i like the music selection...it simply rocks

well i love rock'n'roll...and it's alot better than listening to some fake DJ/rapper singing about being a gangster....or some fake techno idiot who never actually performed the song and the word "song"in techno world means fake manufactured music not peformed in real life by a real band or sole performer with real instruments....with only one sentence in the whole song that keeps on repeating like some kind of loop

same goes for rap without the loop part but sometimes with it

to punkrkr27, CMcMahon, Chris Criswell and few other.

Hehe, did anyone ever told you guys that the ego is a primitive emotion ?

GT4 soundtrack sucks and you don't need to play the game more than 1 day to notice this... unless you're deaf or something... are you ? :dopey:

i bet none of you ever went to any rock concert anyway.

As for Criswell i suggest you do the same starting with the forum's rules.

What was is...

Butthead: hu hu hu GT4 music sucks
Beavis: yea it sucks hu hu hu

listen man people have different opinion specially when it comes to music as music is all about personal taste and the gt4 jukebox has different genres of music to suit different tastes....personally i like the selection of themes.

they work with the tracks i admitt there are a minority of rock themes that i didn't love that much but still don't hate 'em either.besides you can always turn it off and put in some of your own cds right?not in ps2 but in a cd player and adjust the volume to fit the game's sfx...am not sure if you can insert a music cd in the ps2 itself and still play

but i still find all songs to be better then the list of need for speed underground 1&2 and MNC:DUB(which is a NFS:UG2 rip-off)

OMG thats so old fashion...

I find it funny that a guy so concerned about listening to only the latest, most fashionably trendy club music is making Beavis & Butthead references. You've got your finger square on the pulse of the 90's, alright... :D

Seriously, your opinion on the quality of GT4's music is no more important than anyone else's. Lots of people like it, so who are you to tell them it sucks? Just turn it off, put on a CD, and race like the rest of us. 👍

You ever think that maybe, just maybe PD was given some marketing influence on the music selection? If they broaden the range of music, they might broaden the range of customers. That's also probably why there is a jukebox. So if you don't like some of the music, you could just turn it off. They almost certainly put music in there for all of the regions that they would be selling to, knowing that everyone would probably not like at least two or three of the songs.

I personally like VH and classic Judas Priest (where's Turbo Lover when you need it?). But I really actually miss the menu music from the original GT.

The past week I have had the music turned off and just play the new NIN album over and over on my stereo. My wife isn't impressed, but I think NIN is the best thing to get your foot to the floor (or thumb mashed on the button).

I quite like the music on my PAL version. My taste in music is mostly Rnb/Hiphop so it's refreshing to listen to other genres while racing away. I think this type of music suits GT4 more than the tracks used in NFSU which annoyed me more than anything. The jukebox is a great idea for taking out what I don't want aswell.

i hate the music. at least for a racing game. i remember whan i first got the game, i was watching the intro video and getting so excited. then all of a sudden i here panama. i was really worried. van halen on a racing game??

Actually, the beavis & butthad reference is a metaphor. Beavis and butthead were two 16 yrs old kids listening to metal and dreaming about scoring.... something like that.

:)

As to who i am, im just like everyone else who dislike metal and voicing enough so we dont end up with too much noise polution in GT5.

But i beleive the PS3 will have an optional HD, so that shouldnt be a problem for more trendy people.

btw... we know that Polyphony put those 90's metal songs in because their commercial Rights were cheap to obtain.

lol improvise man...improvise....

after like 2.5% into the game i got sick of the music so i hooked up my ps2 to my comp and i just play music on my wmp while i play XD

CMcMahon
I think that it was in the soundtrack for either GT2 or GT3.

You got it. It's in GT3. I was just disappointed with the song in GT4. I thought Turbo Lover was a much better fit. Of course, that's my opinion... :)

Just turn off the music and play your own if you don't like it. PD made the correct choice of picking race-themed music, since pretty much everyone has a different opinion of what "good" music is, there's no possible way to make the soundtrack "good."

Personally, I think GT2 had the best overall soundtrack of all the games, even if it was a little bit limited.

what the hell? gt4 music kicksass, stop whining

why the hell do you want to buy a rally car? im 38% in and have 3 rally cars, the subaru prototype and lancia delta and that 70's mitsubishi one. ive used them rarely

rock > dance fullstop.

and try looking in the game :dunce:

If you can't find any music in GT4 that you like, then I feel very VERY sorry for you, as your tastes are obviously warped far beyond even my eclectic tastes.

I still say having "Oh Yeah" for when you fail a test was a stroke of evil genius.

I've been silent for a while, and I plan to still, though I just want to say one or two things. Despite them being said again, and again, and again by others in different ways.

To me, I figured before even GT4 was ever in my hands, try as PD may and will to appeal to many pepople, be it in Asia, Europe, Americas (North or South), and anywhere else in between and beyond, you ain't gonna please everbody. Not every song is for everbody and then some, some songs people will like, the same can be said for those others absoultely hate.

For me, I like a few songs in the soundtrack, most of the stuff... no wait ALL of the stuff done (or Remixed or whatever) by Daiki Kasho, as I loved his work in GT3, I also like (Call me) Super Bad remix by James Brown, I felt they should have left 'Born too slow' though it's a good remix, I'd prefer the origional, my own opinion on the matter, then there's Machinegun, Nitro, Mr Gameplan (I think) and a few others. Some songs I'd prefer not to have but that's what the playlist options are for.

They try and I think they did a decent job, plus who is to tell what is good music or not when the crap is subjective to no end? I mean, think back to GT1, when (at least for me) a number of us were at an age where we were prone to influence. It's beause of just when I started playing GT1, that I still think Lose Control by Ash is THE best song from GT aside from the works of Garbage (As Heaven is wide and I think I'm Paranoid), Super Bon Bon by Soul Coughing, nearly all the instrumentals in GT1, andd yes, I like to almost death the American intro song of GT3 by Lenny Kraviz, say what you want, I don't care, I like that song a LOT.

It's all subjective, if someone dosne't like it, well they don't, maybe they should give it more of a shot, maybe not, it's their choice. all one can do is to suggest and not the 'suggest' as in have a gun to the back of their head suggest, but just to say 'hey, maybe you could try Machine gun' or 'Strike Barrier' or a number of songs.

GT4's soundtrack is it's own, I like it for it's variety, I like it because it tries, say what you want of whatever specefic soundtrack be it from Asia, Europe or America... a few songs I wish were on there such as Dream Snacher, Live in a Box and Hell above water, but one dosen't always get what they want but they got what they can use.

Plus I could always just put the music on mute for a while and play what I want on my computer :).

That's just my take on it, I'm bound to overlook crap like usuall and once more I'm over lengh again from what I promised to say. But it's just me, don't expect me back anytime soon but like anyone really cares or so I think anyway.

Later...

The music aint that bad, but there are beter soundtracks, but besides, when driving my pagani zonda, no other sound other than the engine matters -- you gotta love it!

R_riders: lose control was the greatest song on GT1 next to sweet 16 :D. im just sad that feeder took a turn for the worst, they had some cracking songs around. if they had GT4 with every song off GT1 2 and 3 i would be in music heaven :D

I can do that too, i have my pc audio-out connected to a table-mixer which i use as semi-pre amp to a QSC Amp. ( www.qscaudio.com )

However my pc is often busy running macros and stuff (thats if my gf isn't using it)

I also happen to bring my PS2 to my friend's houses but most of them don't have a PC or even a sound system.

Since nobody wants to carry a getoblaster around, having good music track already in the game save time and its more practical .

As to drive in real life with the music on, it depends. In real life i do not turn the radio on. I hate driving with the radio or with the music on.

I prefer the sound of the wind alot more (motorcycle and convertible) not the engine. (i dont wana hear the engine).
Also because i dont wana scratch the car and endup throwing 5000$ for repair i need concentration.... so no radio in real life.

But in GT4 or any other racing game, you can hit the wall and not worry about repair. Thats why i find music much more fun.

As for my taste of music, as long they DONT put Metal, Classical, Country, Children, Christmass songs.. in GT5 like they almost did in GT4... ill be happy :)

Duke
Why are you listening to music while you're racing, anyway? I turned off the music for GT4 before I ever got in a car.

Same for me, the only music I listen to when driving, either GT or real life, is engine and tires.

PhM

I for one am quite happy with the GT4 soundtrack.
The two songs by Van Halen and Judas Priest are by far my favourites in the game.

But, I'm wishing for a bit of (more since Judas Priest is Heavy Metal) Metal. I would really like something by Iron Maiden in the game... Or something by Ill Nino or Soilwork...

I wouldn't mind Black Sabbath either... especially if the song would be "Paranoid"...

Well, till then I at least have the luck of having my computer in the same room as my PS2. :D

-What's your problem? If you don't like metal, that's fine, but if you expect PD just to go "Metal sucks, let's not include any this time, we don't mind losing several thousands of sales to it's massive following, it's ok," you're sadly mistaken, and I feel sorry for you. What makes your specfic taste any better than anyone elses? Some people would probably kill to keep the music you listen to out of the game if they could.
-In my own opinion, although I love the music in the game, I like to listen to my own, basically The Used...Atreyu... that kind of Emo/Hardcore stuff and yes, I am 15. But don't bash on the taste just because of my age everyone, please, lol.
-If you hate the music in GT4, sell the game and buy NFSU:2 or something instead of coming on here and moaning. If you can't manage that, just recognise at least that just because youre 'trendy' (which doesn't make sense because there are a lot less 'trendy' people than would really constitute being 'trendy' as the world is a mix of different people most of whom could argue that actually they are the 'trendy' ones. Do you get me?) you're not right in everything you do and say.
-Anywway what this all comes down to is me saying accept that people are different, or continue to live in your closed in, egotistic little world. It's your choice in the end. [/rant]

-May I now apologise to everyone who I have just sorely offended.

First, moaning about people that whinne is no better than moaning about a product.
Actually it is worst... from a certain point of view, its like telling someone to stfu.

One of the problem most of you have is you don't express your feeling loud enough (typicaly men) about the real debate, instead you just attack people directly to shout them down.
Without misleading this debate, all i can say is that keeping your feeling to yourself, in other words: "not moaning publically" is an extremely bad idea. This goes in real life as well.

Smart people that read the orignal post understood the point of this thread.

You dislike something ? then say it. You don't agree with something ? say it.

The humanity has been behaving like this for thousands of thousands of years long before you were born. And its not today that a few couple of individuals are going to change how people react.

After posting the origal thread, i came to realize that we are dealing with all ages here. Youngers and metal fans reacted rather quickly and negatively.
But you know what ? i beleive they reacted negatively because they took it personnal.

If tomorrow, someone start a thread with "GT4 music track rules" i would probably react by bringing my arguments however WITHOUT trying to shout down that voice. Because who i am to silence a voice ?

I fully respect people with different taste music but i won't let their taste affect mine.

Like probably many people out there, i got GT4 90% for the racing engine, 10% for the sounds/music. So suggesting someone to stop playing this game because they dont like the music is a totally retard and a selfish behaviour.
Learn to respect their taste and they will learn to respect yours.. this game wasn't only meant for you alone so expect some people like myself to react on parts they dislike so they can also get a peice of their pie.

Actually, if you want to reducing the moaning all you got to do is to let Polyphony know that we exist. But ofcourse, why would metal fan do that ?

All you have said above is valid, but honestly, what did you expect when you titled the thread "GT4 music tracks SUCK !!!" And then immediately commenced to say, basically, keep in mind this is not a direct quote "that's so old fashioned, no-one listens to that here anymore." You are going, obviously to offend people and you've got to understand the reactions you are going to provoke, such as mine, I apologise if it seemed like a personal assault, but I was rather annoyed with some of your comments. I understand that some people like their breakbeat, some people like their trance, and some their metal or rock. But you can't really say any of it SUCKS it's just different. Which is one of the things you've kinda in a roundabout way stated, and I'm glad you've said that you respect peolpe with different tastes now. I appreciate that 👍 . But of course it doesn't seem like that when you say it sucks...
And you say about suggesting someone stop playing the game because of music. I only did that because it seemed very much like you were the one complaining about it in the first place. Anyway, I apologise, I seem, to an extent to have got my wires crossed. With your last post especially you have proved youself capable of accepting other tastes.
Just one last thing, what aggravated me is your suggestion they remove metal tracks from GT5. Now that wouldn't be fair would it? I wouldn't mind if they put dance or whatever you like in the game, I can turn it off if I want, but I wouldn't be getting my 'piece of the pie' if they took metal out would I?

Thanks for listening, and once again, sorry if I offended you before.

Pod, nobody cares wheather you like the in-game music or not. If you don't like it, turn it off, its simple as that, geez.

Radi, read the last post carefully, it concerns poeple like you.

You're wrong btw, before i started working for the gov, i've worked 2 yrs for a dev company (like polyphony) and we actually care about people comments on our products. especially the negative ones.

The marketing team always listen... and the reason you don't hear Jar Jar in the last movie...
