Well it's that time again fellow magazine cover makers. The poll for this week. Thanks for all who submitted entries, and once again please no self voting. Also 440 Charger will need to make his pick for designers choice.

Good Luck!

Designer's Choice Award has been given to Easy$$.

thanks BlazinX put the poll up ...
all entries are pretty well done
its hard to choose the best

I was extremely torn between franz's Muscular Cover, and Easy$$'s Super Chevy Cover...:scared: So I had to go with Easy$$'s! It looked the most professional to me and even thought the picture was a little dark and the Chevelle had BMW wheels on it, the overall composition of color and elements just looked the best to me. Franz, I really loved your picture though! That is what made it such a hard choice!

So BlazinX, you can fork over my Designer's Choice Award Over to Easy$$!👍

And I almost forgot about Vicious VP's Mustang... Amazing job with all the graphics and editing on that Stang! Very Impressive indeed!👍 (Even though he just voted for himself...:indiff: )

I really like dori-san's too! Nice Title and Picture!👍

Voted for himself, is that allowed?

I think myself having a hard time writing stuff up for the cover
you guys did a much better job on this

that Chevelle cover does look really realistic
but I vote for Vicious because that mustang still impress me so much

yay my trashy tabliod rag made it in amongst the pro mags! :D

franz if you every want help with coverlines give me a shout, I'm much better at that than doing the arty bits. :dopey:

and what's with all these pony cars in a muscle car mag!! :sly: ;)

thanks brock ~
I am kinda surprise no1 use the Buick Special
that's one of my favorite in GT4

but hey ... I got 4 vote, much better than last week :D

why is it that these things are STILL not being put into the poll in the proper order?

shouldn't you be listing them in the order they were entered?

p.s. I also kinda wanted my bigger one to be on the poll, but eh... whatever is fine.

I think BlazinX put all the entries in alphabetic order
he saved all the entry photos and renamed them all before upload them again
that's why 440 always be the first and wolf always be the last
Dori> maybe you should register a new account that with the username starts with 1
:D j/k

Yup I do them in alphabetical order and yup I save them to my PC with your username.

WOW...Im pleasantly suprised I won the award. I thought after franz and Vicious posted theirs I was done for sure. The chevelle shot was actually one of the very first photos I took when I got GT4....never really thought I would use it for anything. Good call on the bimmer wheels.....I was totally oblivious to it, like I said one of the very first things I did with GT4. Thanks for all the kind words!

Being new to this comp, Im not sure what the next step is. If I understand correctly, the designers choice picks the theme for the next comp? Please correct me if Im wrong. That being said we might have a slight problem. I will be on my honeymoon the week of may 2-6 so I will not be around for the week Im supposed to pick.

Blazin...should I go ahead and PM you with a theme for that week or how do you want to handle it?

Actually, I beleive the winner of the poll picks the next week's theme, not the winner of the Designer's Choice Award.

Easy$$ > congratulation for both award and marriage 👍

Thanks franz! Saturday is the big day so my week is going to be pretty busy.

Thanks for the votes! Everyone did awesome this week. Damn these comps are going to get tough!

Hey franz, it's lookin pretty good for ya! You-12, Me-8! Unless I have a miraculous come-from-behind victory, it looks like you are gonna be the winner!👍

I have no idea what I'm gonna do this week, so... I am thinkin somethin like Road & Track.💡

I am glad I am leading for once ....
maybe later we are going head to head ... who knows?
for this week theme, I am going to continue my tradition ... creativity
but looks like you wanna use real counterpart
I would suggest you use some british magazine like Top Gear, Evo or Car
they are quite expensive in Canada, about $13 cdn
they can be found in Indigo or Chapters
btw, their photography are top notch, specially Car

Well, I myself feel that the designs should be limited to the pics that you can pull from GT4. The reasoning is: it makes it a LOT harder to create a great cover if you have no-one other then yourself to get ideas, logos, images, mag titles, etc, from. You have to be 100% creative and do it all yourself. There were only a few covers that fell in to that area, so my choice for best was limited. As TwinTurboJay said, "Voted for the C/D Entry, cause its my fav mag !!!" which says nothing of the cover presented, just that he went with what he knows - he was bias to the Car & Driver name (something not original to the mag designer).

Now, I have NOTHING against the covers that were presented that used "real" stuff, it is just an easier road to take, and one that I don't care to travel myself. It limits my personal creativity if I have the work of others to pad my own. I prefer the challenge and the reward you get when you create something great with only your abilities as your tools. It's like "That's all me Baby!"

I hope that I have not offended anyone here, that was not my intent, but you may now have a better idea of why my vote went where it did.

And, since it seems to be an issue, I will no longer choose my designs. 👍

Also, I hope no one ever pads the vote by having their friends log in and vote for them. The only one who knew I entered this comp was my wife, and she could care a whole lot less .... :sly:

Thanx all!

I dunno, i mean i dont agree with putting loads of real pics on a mag, but the entrys this week looked wicked with the real pics, especially 440's, there is nothing wrong with that!

I used three external elements for my GTO cover. The Hoosier drag radial, as there's nothing in GT4 quite like it. Other wheel shots would looke like the standard wheel shot, which I was trying to avoid. I probably could have photoshopped the sidewall of one up to make it look much fatter, but didn't think of it at the time.

The crankshaft is a computer generated pic of an actual crank for LS1s from the Harrop website. There's nothing quite like it in GT4 other than the line drawing of engne bits on the stage 3 NA upgrade screen (and I don't have the facility to get screen grabs).

finally I added the burnout car at the top to a) fill empty space, b) to give a clear background for the price & issue date & c) I can't get any action shots from the game atm (red stopwatch) - although the smoke effect in the game would have to be photoshopped quite abit to get a similar effect.

anyway thanks for picking it for the top 20, I'm the first to admit it is very amateurish, especially in the font department. I wish I had quark express or illusrtator, but I still have a lot to learn with ps.

what are you talking about "top 20?!" there hasn't even been 20 entries in this competition of it's 3 weeks running?

the number of participants in this comp is so low, there will probably never be a shortlisted "top 20" because even if it passes 20, it'll never reach 50+ entires... which the PMC pulls more than that every week. That's the only reason there's a top 20 there.

I guess that I really try to follow the rules to the tee.

rules
Rules:

Only Imageshack thumbnails will be considered for entry.
• • • • Use your own pictures • • • • .
One entry per person, per week.
Mark FINAL ENTRY in red on your final entry.
Stick with the theme.
Cite all sources you get your magazine logos from (not on the magazine, but in the post)
The picking will go like the Photomode Competition goes by a poll
Failure to abide by the rules results in DQ.
For example: I was going to use a Lotus Elise on this weeks comp, but I decided not to because I could not create the cover the way I wanted without some real pics of the Elise. Now here is the deal, I even took pics of the Elise from the local dealership, but opted not to use them because of my interpretation of the rules - they are not photomode pics.

It does not make a lot of sense to me to have a Photomode Cover Comp if you are only using some of the pics from photomode and the rest from the Internet of other sources.

I guess I'm just a purist when it comes to the ruls of the comp. 👍

I took some pics on my mobile phone from Targa Tasmania last night, I have some nice cars, can I use them? would be be classed as my own pics?

It is not up to me. I am choosing to be a purist and only use shots from GT4 - that way there is never any debate about the shots I chose use . . .

ok, I don't know if I will enter this weeks comp, I just ain't good enough to get more than 1 vote.

good point, I wasn't thinking, let alone counting, when I wrote that. :dopey:

as for the non-GT4 pics, I've made my excuses but will avoid it in the future.

So no bias towards crap American muscle cars in this magazine cover competition then. Of course...bigger is better. Cars don't need to go around corners, or run on fuel efficient engines. We'll just steal oil from Iraq for now. And when the world's oil resources run out in 80 years it won't be our fault - simply our children's problem.

I'm sorry for being bitter but the average European pays a fortune for petrol, as well as their car in the first place, due to the engineering that goes into the average car to squeeze every last drop of power out of a 1.4L engine (for example) or in other words, make it fuel efficient. But hell, I don't mind that much, as our cars are well balanced, highly engineered and refined, and actually go around corners.

I just absolutely hate (and I'm generalising here, so sorry) the American view that bigger is better when it comes to cars (ever heard of a power:weight ratio?) and they are nothing short of 4 wheels stuck to an engine, and are engineered and refined....never.

Also Europe gets acid rain caused by air pollution from the US, partly made up of car emissions.

I know I'm vastly generalising here, but what do people think?
