Note that this is a long round, it will take around 30 mins

Race Rules
NO B-Spec!
Arcade mode
Weight penalties, results-based
No Power changes
Any tyre combination allowed
Strong Tire Wear
Rev Limiter penalty system (same as rallies/missions)
Driving aids Optional
Points for race: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 (pre 2010 F1 scoring)
Try to keep at least 2 wheels on Tarmac/Rumble strips
(I seriously doubt anyone can keep it on the gray for 4 laps straight

A photo of the screen displaying the total time would be good too.

Submissions due by 10pm Monday 21st March, Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time
To ensure correct timing, try to submit before Sunday the 20th

(this is 2 weeks after last race's deadline)

10pm Monday here is 2pm Monday in Paris, 6am Monday in New York, 3am Monday in Los Angeles

"Note that this is a long round, it will take around 30 mins"? I think your underestimating how quick these cars are granturismite...

I did a trial run yesterday and it wasn't too bad. I think that this is one course that can actually help certain, overweight cars as I was around half a second per sector faster at +2 weight instead of +1.
 
Well, after that spanking in Japan I'll take any advantage I can get with that 2% weight reduction to my favorite track in the game. Good luck everyone!

@ E RaK: Sure I'll be seeing your tail lights this round as only Test Course is LESS a favorite. I've driven this thing so seldom that I'd never noticed the Green Signs w/the names of the corners before! Will be back in town in time for Round #8.

This is definitely a challenge I've been given 10 sec penalties in about 8 different spots, (though some were due driving on worn tyres during testing) while learning how the Supra reacted to The Green Hell. Once trained up, I had a clean run going but then binned it on the last lap going through PflanzgartenIII and got a 10 sec penalty :(.
I might submit that time but i know i can do better, we'll see.
 
hey guys, good luck 'round the 'ring!

if you lot want, I could extend the series to 12 or 13 rounds. I'm undecided on this, so opinions welcome

And now back to project management before my teacher has a go at me for mis-managing my time
 
Extending the series would be great. Tonight, I'm not going to do a quick round 'round The Green Hell. But, tomorrow, I might not have school, so you never know.

P.S.: Seoul Central would be a great addition if you are considering.
 
Well, I have ran two rounds so far, the Takata feels good for the most part, a little jumpy through a couple of sectors, but I've got some solid runs. I'll run a few more times, seeing we have two weeks for this round.

Extending the series sounds GREAT! El Capitan, would be my suggestion for addition to this series.

I have to agree with Kingofweasles, I think you may have underestimated the speed of these cars at the 'ring Granturismite.
 
I'd stick with the series if your gonna extend it, along with the above suggestions prob Infineon & Seattle are the main extras I'd put forward.
 
Yeah extending the series would be good. got my first run in. I made quite a few mistakes. Will try to get a run in with less mistakes.
 
This is my favorite track also. I am happy to keep racing if you choose to add more events also.
 
I want to apologise for not participating. I had every intention to, even up to last night when I noticed that the Nurburgring thread mentioned this interesting muse.

So I popped the game and memory card into the PS2, armed with the fact that I had recently replaced my old 24 inch 1982 color console with a newer 2005 not a flat screen, but a very good 35 incher and was prepared to do battle.

Unfortunately, the time away from the game (about 2 mos) because of RL and FM3 has seriously affected my skill. While never a top contender I was/am content to be somewhat competitive/competent driver. That is not the case now. I really suck. To the point of really sucking. I have lost most of the feel that I had and just keeping the darn car on the track as I would like is a serious challenge. And I do not at this point have the time to relearn it.

Going laps without 2 wheels off the track was a challenge but one that I liked because that is how I get into the top % on the FM3 leaderboards. I often place ahead of the speedsters because they have a screwup and place below me even with a far quicker time. You are rewarded for a clean lap. And the Ring is a looooong track and allows me to do that.

I will have to forgo the series with a reget that GT has passed me by. But with the knowledge that I might someday come back if/when I do get a PS3 and the time.

Note: I have uploaded an average but clean 2 lapper (which was done the first try) of the FM3 '03 Opel onto my storefront if you have the game under the search GT4 Opel and wish to view it. I drove it in cockpit view even though it might not be a premium car. :sly: (playful dig intended). And I find that FM3 has captured (for a 2009 game) a nice feel for the Ring.

After a glorious dozen or so attempts, I found the quickest strategy for myself and went with it! These cars can be very quick and surprisingly stable through through the bumps on this track. Good luck everyone!
 
Good to hear from you Mark, I really like this track and have had a many laps to perfect my time. There may be some time left but I don't think I will find it..

Time submiited. That was probably the cleanest run round the ring i've ever done. only a couple of times when i put a couple of wheels on the grass. Good luck all.
 
Posted my time... I did quite a lot of mistake in this round. Struggling with tyre management and running wide at Adenauer Forst - doesn't look good but nonetheless, the car itself was really good to drive and I'd say quite fast around the 'Ring. Good luck to the rest!
 
I felt great in that race. I know the 'ring pretty well and the Astra seems to really like it also. The tires I chose just made it two laps with some care.
