It's not possible to rip songs from a game disk. So to perfectly answer your question, no they wouldn't fit on a DVD5 disk because there's no way to get them there.

Actually it is possible, but not in the way that you are thinking. Although to get the songs of the DVD would mean extracting the GT4.vol file and then converting the files into a playable format. It's not that hard to do but, meh.

To be honest I know there are allot of songs, but I doubt cutting them out would make much of a difference. I bet there is less than 500mb worth of music files on the disc.

Or, shell out the $30 or so to import the soundtrack when it's released. You know there will be one.

I have the GT4 soundtrack, however it doesn't have all the music by far that is on the actual game. There are loads, I mean loads of songs, rock, techno, trance, breakbeat , hiphop and even a selection of classical music. But that's not the reason he wants to rip them though, I think he wants to remove them from the game so it will fit on a single layer dvd. I don't condone that, unless it's from a downloaded copy.

Wouldn't they be poor quality though?

Not realy, even in the days of GT2 the music was the around quality of a 128kbps mp3 but with in a different file format with less compression. If they weren't poor quality you'd notice in the game and i've heard downsampled audio on some cd-rip games and it's noticeable.

Actually, I think he's describing the opposite... He wants to know if removing the music from GT4.VOL will make the game small enough to burn onto a single-layer disc. The answer there is no. Which is kind of dumb anyway.. I mean, if you already have the game disc, why do you need another, smaller one?

Otherwise, it's a really stupid question.. If you wanted to burn the songs onto disc, you could just use a regular CD, a DVD certainly wouldn't be required.

Well if you had a mod-chip/ps2 that can't read the Normal GT4 dual layer disc and you were incredibly desparate to get it working I suppose that would be one of the options. Although I have a feeling he's downloaded the DVD-9 image that has been floating around the net.

no, i bought the chinese version off lik-sang, but i dont have a mod chip, only swap magic . thats why i was wondering if there is anyway i can get it to fit on a dvd5 so that i can play it without modding my ps2.

You'd need to mod the PS2 anyway.. whether it's burned or not makes no difference. It still has a different region code, and will still require a modchip.

Eh, maybe one day someone will make GT4 with enough stuff removed to fit onto a single layer disc. You'll be missing music/fmv/audio/secondary car models (ie ones with open top, or ones with lights on for the night tracks) but then your just playing a game with allot of content missing. It was like that for the Cd-rip of GT3.

Short answer, no.

You know what the funniest part is? By the time he's spent all this money and wasted all this time, it'll be for sale down at his local Gamestop or EB. :)

I dont see the point of all this 💡 I want to badly play this game but not a generic japanese copy I cant even read, let alone waste money on a Japanese ps2, just wait for the ntsc version, alot less stressfull :) damn someone is but hurt...

I would have imported GT4 myself, but my SwapMagic/flip lid combo is a no go. I don't feel like paying for/installing a chip, so I think I'll just wait. 👍

$90 dollars just to get the game. More money to mod your PS2. I'll think I can wait a month and a half and save myself 150 bucks. It takes me 2 weeks to make that much. :(

Couldn't you just connect the audio output from the PS2 into a computers soundcard and just record it like that?

Folks.. he's not talking about the music.. he's talking about burning the game itself onto a DVD. And he had a whacked idea that he could physically remove the music from the game code and that this would magically remove 4GB of data, allowing him to burn it onto a single-layer disc.

hehe jedi, stop putting down evryone that was desperate enough to buy an import, we're all green with envy they may play it months before we do (in my case... just till sunday...)

i could of course always wait for the US release... in fact i'll have to spend money to play that version because my PS2 won't play it.. so i need a new PS2 and another GT4... but i want LAN play at any cost, so it's ok.
i hope it's not months... but the fact that PD is not saying anything, at all about the US release date doesn't seem like it will be this month at least. if PD had a date to give us.. i might've skiped the Japanese version if it was soon enough. but you just have to remmember GT3... this is a bad sign. it could be anywhere from a month to 3 - 4 more months.
