sounds like fun, i may have a shot at this :sly:

I'll give this a try... I love the MR-S autobacs...

And I get my DFP soon.... a week... and then bam... DOOM!

Cross forum ranting eh? Kinda wish I could have a sig here Touge :D

Can't quite keep up this week yet, but only had a few tries... (he he, bit like the English Rugby Team this year!! :ouch: )

T1 19.517
T2 59.172

Will give it a bash over the weekend though... great combo this week...

Took a crack at it, my best clean lap was a 18.634 / 56.852.
I think if I end up with some time to work on it I could get maybe .150 more off of T2. It felt like a pretty solid lap for the most part.

How are you taking turns 6 and 7 CFM? The carrousel and hairpin before T2 are baffling me. I've seen as low as 18.4 at T1 but only 57.1 at T2, and I know it should be lower.

I will try and run a few laps on this tonight to take my mind off the flight tomorrow :nervous:

Dont expect much though guys as I have only really run the licences so far in GT4 and I feel like this brick in my pants will slow me down some :dopey:

If I dont manage a time for this then no worries! ... enjoy your race Gents 👍

Trail braking into both of them and holding as tight a line as possible until you're clear. The second half of turn 7 you can swing a bit wide to get a better angle, but not alot. Turn 6 once you brake get on the gas easy as not to upset the car. Once you hit the rumble you should already be balls to the wall.👍 Try modulating the throttle more as too much will allow you to meet our old friend Mr. Understeer.

Going somewhere nice, Ron?

Official line on the "Top Speed" issue - Ignore me for now, as I'm clearly talking out of my arse. When I get home in 2 hours I'll check what the hell it is I'm actually talking about and clarify it then. Thanks for your patience.

Official line on the corners before the back straight. Consider the rumble strips as part of the track. Consider everything outside the strips as off-track. I was going to allow it on the basis that the licence tests allow it but, for the sake of consistency - I wouldn't allow it at Fuji 2005 GT - I won't.

Edit: I've done a head/arse diagnostic and found that the former was inserted in the latter. First post amended for Quick Tune clarification.

Another 20 laps:

19.713
58.841

I'm having a great time, so I hope to find time to do one session more. :D

icemanshooter23
Just one quick question Nick, are you using a different top speed setting on your car?

Nope, completley stock, didnt mess with anything. Wouldnt matter anyway, this isnt a top speed track at all.
The Wizzard
Nice write up, Nick

Thanks

Believe it or not, I managed to take that turn at 138-139 MPH, for a couple of times, but cannot duplicate it again for the life of me

I would hate to try it once I am on a good lap, just to throw everything away for that turn. I usually just take it at ~135 MPH. If I ever get to a point to where I do everything else consistantly and it seems the only way I can still shave off a bit is to take that turn faster, then I probably will.

Yeah i have taken it at 138-139 also, but if you miss the apex by any more than a foot you are going to drop the wheel, usually i just try to keep it safe there.

Yea, that's the scariest turn on the track, I don't remember exactly how fast I go, but if you just let up on throttle to about 50-70% you can still take that turn pretty fast without losing much speed and still hit 6th gear on the straight before the hairpin and it will still be pretty safe. I've managed to get my T2 down to about 58.28? but my overall lap time has gone down about 1.5 seconds. Tonight I hope to get my T2 down to the 57's before I call it quits.

Greetings WRS racers.. i'm back from a long absence since GT3...
now i should be hear for GT4...

my best clean split so far...
T1=19.129
T2=58.718

I'm in Div 3
and using DS2

I'm in 6th gear by the time im coming out of the left hander before the long right. then just keep it in 6th till the hairpin.

T1-18.528
T2-56.833

Slowly dropping.... lap time getting better. That hairpin is HAAAARD.

I have the data logger thing to if anyone wants to see it, tell me what info you need and ill post it. Sadly i do not have a replay exporter or anything like that

Top Speed setting MAY be adjusted.

I am going to give this race a few more tries with different top speed settings, to see if I manage to get any quicker.

It's sort of a shame, though, that we can adjust that, as I got used pretty well with the default settings - but I have to see if changing the top speed value grants me any improvement.

Splits updates to come later.

EDIT: How you guys get into the 56's at T2 is beyond my comprehension  Must be the wheel+pedals... Somebody with the DS2, show me that there is still some hope for us DS2 users, please

I'm pretty sure it's not the wheel on this track. If you check my T Times you can see that I've gotten a 57.1 T2, only about .2 off the best wheel times. 👍

Thank you for giving me hope, icemanshooter23 👍 :D
I didn't know you were a DS2 user.

Here are my new and improved T's (car 'stock', everything at its default settings - which means Top speed is left untouched at 280km - which, by the way, if you want to be picky on units, should be km/h... but I digress ;))

T1: 0'18.586
T2: 0'57.447

T1 is 0.150 seconds better than my previous posted one.
T2 is 0.086 seconds better than my previous posted one.
Final time is 0.064 seconds better than my previous unposted one. ;)

Argh...

This is getting frustrating...
Why can't I do one lap in which I do everything good, instead of just one section? (rethoric question, does not require an answer)

The Wizard.

icemanshooter23
Nice T1 👍.

Thank you 👍

It's too bad that I can take the Start-T1 section below 0'18.8xx only once in a blue moon - and this goes without saying that clean T1's of 0'18.8xx happens quite rarely, too.

I have seen T1's of 0'18.5xx quite a few times, but then I just can't put it together for the rest of the lap.

I have also seen T2's into the 0'57.3xx (albeit only twice).

As a matter of fact, my previous best lap time (about which I didn't post the splits, as the final time was only 0.031 seconds better than the one I already had) had a T2 of 0'57.3xx.

Which means that the last 180 turn before Finish line is killing me - I just can't figure out how to take it.

icemanshooter23
Looks like you are right there along with me.

So I'll take it that your lap with T2 0'57.1xx was not clean?

I have to figure out a consistant way of doing Start-T1. If I managed to do 0'18.5xx - 0'18.6xx more often, I know my final lap time could drop at least another 0.200 seconds.

The Wizard.

icemanshooter23
...but you're only .3 off, not too far off.

LOL!
Do you have any idea of how long it would take ME to drop my Final lap time by that much? :D Forget dropping just one section by 0.300 seconds...

I will try 👍
I would be happy if I could just drop my final lap time by 0.200, since I know it's possible looking at my current (bad) T2's:

T2_1: 0'57.533 (posted, first best final lap time)
T2_2: 0'57.3xx (unposted, second best final lap time)
T2_3: 0'57.447 (posted, current best final lap time)

All these yielded to three final lap times that are (from worst to best) in a 0.064 gap - absolutely ridiculous :indiff: :D

And all because of the final 180...

I wish GT4 had the good ol' analyzer, in which you could put two replays against each other and see in real time in which sections one car was faster than the other... then I could figure out where I am losing that much between T2 and Finish... That's the feature from GT3 I miss the most. All we have now is the graphs with the top speeds, which doesn't even tell how many seconds it took to clear a certain section 👎

Oh well...

The Wizard.

Finally figured out how to take the turn between T1 and T2 and got what I think is my limit:
18.4xx
56.799 :D

I'm starting to wish this was a real weekly race ;).
The crazy thing about the lap is that I while going into turn 5 after T1 I hit the grass on the left, slid, and drifted sideways around the turn . I have no idea how i kept it together but in the end it came out well. I think that drift might have cost me .1, but I know I won't be able to replicate the rest of the lap again.

So getting into the 56.8's is possibile even with a DS2 👍

Care to share your secret?
Which turn in particular are you referring to?

Please let me know  :D

The Wizard.

What I actually meant is the turns between T1 and T2. I don't think I really have a sercret, except that I got on brakes later through the downhill carrousel and hugged the inside, and on the following hairpin I tried to stay much closer to the inside of the turn while braking and accelerating 👍.

This is a pretty tricky track to get down. I would have to say that the trickiest parts are the first two right hand turns. It is really hard to remain consistant. Nick Johnston is right about the first turn after T1. I nailed it once, then couldn't quite do it again, and keep marveling at my ghost when it pulls it off. Good choice famine!

I have to figure this out between now and the deadline.
I don't see how/where/when/why, with comparable T1's, I am losing as much as 0.800 seconds between T1 and T2.

I don't expect to get below the 47's, but I would like to, at least, get as close to 0'47.000 as possible.

I need to find out what I am doing wrong between T1 and T2 :indiff: :scared:

Anyway, for future references, are you playing the NTSC version of the game, icemanshooter23? And if so, do you have a way of posting your replays?

Also, this same question applies to everybody else - since pretty much everybody else in here seems to be faster than me :sly: ;)

I am, of course, asking for you all to post the replays after the deadline, when the result thread gets posted by Famine.
I just would like to see/learn how you all drive, because I feel like I reached a dead end, as I am struggling even to be within a second of you all

EDIT: I just wanted to add another thing: I am mostly interested in your replay, icemanshooter23, because you have proven (checking the current leaderboard) that the fastest time is within the reach of a DS2, and that the wheel+pedals do not make any difference 👍
This makes me glad, as I doubt I will ever buy me a wheel+pedals combo, and I sure did not want to purchase them just to be able to keep up with the online races - not that I am currently able to keep up with them, anyway, but you get the picture: it's the driver that makes the difference, not the tools :D

Another 25 laps:

19.276
58.395

With a lousy overcautious finish. :grumpy:

Starting to feel a little more familiar with the track. Especially those 2 first turns, who has given me huge problems.

Wow I cant belive some of you guys are geting into the 56*** T2, that amazing. My new times are T1 18.754 T2 57.604. I reached my goal time for the whole lap which I am happy with.
