OMG, so cannot wait to try this, but must! Final exams....

I love the Clio, its pretty fun to drive... must refrain from PS2... must.

Yes it is fun to drive and a nice short track.👍

First attempts here are laughable but hey, it's better than riding my tractor and cutting grass. :sly:

13.563
31.671

Jerry, you punk... :p Right after I tell people that the Mustang isn't too bad, you toss us in this little corner carver... :sly:

Was the BC race the mini version too? I can't remember... My roommate did that race, looked like fun.

5 laps in before work:
13.282
30.778

Hey guys, I'm sorry I haven't been in for a while.. Taking care of a few things with school..and, secondly, my PS2 blew up a while ago. So I'll be set back a little while. :(

Cheers,
Jetboy

I havnt even started this yet , but man, awesome combo. This is one of my fav cars in GT4...:)

Fastest time so far:

T1: 14.350
T2: 33.219

with TCS and ASM...

I'll get back behind the wheel here in a moment! :) :sly: :dopey: Randy

Edit 1:
Found out that Ren-Tec has a great idea.. turned off the aids and after getting used to driving without them.. I got a faster time!
T1: 14.048
T2: 32.088

Edit #2 on 5/02/2007:
Faster time today but with TCS...
T1: 13.737
T2: 32.051

Thanks Ren-Tec for the tip!.. I'll keep on working on it but i have to slowly get ready for work ;) Actually, I don't have to be at work til 5:45pm so I'll keep on rolling with the Clio Sport --- Randy

ranhammer take TCS and ASM off, they will low you down no end and totally not needed in this car trust me.
Ok i did some laps in this car and here is what i got

0'13.156
0'29.723

When I first saw this combo, I thought WOOW, great! Fast little car on a twisty little track! Great combo!

But actually... after having done about 10 laps or so, I'm not quiet comfortable with the car... It has just a bit too much power for such a small car (for my taste in any case). It's pretty nervous and jittery all over. Kinda like a 5 year old on cafeine :p

Anyway, first splits:
T1: 13.483
T2: 31.010

Very fun little combo, Jerry. 👍 Should give some close racing. :dopey:

First 6 laps:

13.251
30.147

And running back to the track. :D

Edit: Finished the session:

13.026
29.618

Great car, great track-I'll give it two thumbs up and I haven't turned on the PS2 yet. I shut it down last night after leaving it running for about the last 3 months. Let's hope it still works!

Just spent 15-20 minutes with this combo. I love it, can't wait to have time to get the DFP out and try, as that should equal a much better time in this car.

Splits:
T1 - 13.143
T2 - 29.395

Quite a bit more in this I think, just hard to find the right line with all this linked corners and such.

BTW, OnlyMe, its not the power of the car thats making it jittery; its the engine being behind the driver. This car is very much a typical MR car in how it handles, and you very much need to steer it with the gas. Not by spinning the tires, but by accelerating to keep it from sliding.

And as Ren Tec pointed out, ASM and TCS will KILL your time in this car, as it needs to slide a little to be quick I think.

EDIT - new splits

T1 - 12.960
T2 - 29.306

Not much quicker through T2, but .4 faster at the finish...

Nice little test 👍 .. first session and best clean lap has ..

13.055 / 29.155

Had faster splits but always mess up the last turn!
I do like it though ... slip sliding away :sly:

You know the nearer destination, The more you're...... anyway, had a quick session this afternoon, lots to go :dopey:

13.089 / 29.963

Don't know what you were worried about Jerry this is a great combo 👍

Got me some new splits that got me .365 at the line and using a totally different gear in half the corners. Tame that rear and you will get a fast lap :sly:

0'13.163
0'29.505

I think im getting better with my dfp now, what say you ???

But its so much more fun to swing it around!! :sly:

EDIT - New splits (This combo makes you look a the lap counter and go "Oh crap")

T1 - 12.934 (seen 12.8xx)
T2 - 28.978 (seen 29.8xx)

Had another quick go at this, slower t1 but much better t2 and finish, now just to put it all together....

13.239
29.737

If I'm lucky I'll scrape out another .5

Was it one of the big ones? Pretty craziness regardless! Gotta make sure it can breathe well.

Lol, I did that last night... Only I think it was closer to half that amount of time. When I went back to turn it on, it got stuck and I had to unplug it to reset it. Then it's been fine. :)
T1 - 12.934 (seen 12.8xx)
T2 - 28.978 (seen 29.8xx)
Hmm, seems this car is fitting, eh? :sly: Will you be joining me in D1 soon? I know you're capable when you set your heart to it... :p I think you made a typo there though. 👍

Now, before anyone starts the leaderboard:
T1: 13.254
T2: 29.625

More to come... :sly:

Awesome splits mate! :scared: I dont think I can match you at T2 .. I can match you at T1 and have done many times! .. but that T2 is just too good 👍 ... I'm finding it hard getting faster than a 29.1 let alone a 28.8 :dopey:

Top marks .. I think you may have found your forte

I love this combo! 👍 👍

Very happy with the first sector up to T1. But after that I'm not doing great, need to find some rythm.
No problem though, I can easily see myself up all night driving this car :D so there should be room for improvement

T1: 13.080
T2: 30.049

Thanks - I was actually gonna ask you how you were handling the two turns after T1

And about this being my forte, I love slippery MR cars and spend most of my time drifting and racing them about in the game. I have 72 MR cars in my 360 car garage... and I driven about 50 of those. My favorites are the various MR2s, the Opel Speedster, Mazda Autozam AZ-1, various Lotus models, and the Clio.

I'll give a quick run down on how I do things... still using my DS2 because I don't have time to commit to getting DFP out till tomorrow.

Come through the start/finish line at about 150 kph, sticking to the outside.

Braking for the first corner starts a little before the rumble strip, and then I turn it slightly with brakes fully on. Car rotates a little and then I get on the gas. Going about 63 kph or so around the corner when I get on the gas. And I also put a front wheel in the grass normally. Come to the outside of the turn.

I switch to the outside for the next corner and begin braking right as the rumble strip starts. Just barely get on the brakes, slow to 95 kph or so, then cut in, let the back slide a little to rotate the car, and get on the gas before I touch the inside rumble. This should line you up for the right hander thats next.

Go through T1 at around 13.000 range. Shoot straight thourgh the corner, clipping the rumble. Start braking without turning much, if any. Let the car rotate a little and get on the gas. You should be able to get through the high speed right hander at around 100 kph (give or take 5 kph due to how GT4 handles your speed when you slide). Should drop two wheels off on the inside rumble, and come out just at the end of the outside rumble.

The next 3 right turns I treat more like a single turn. The braking point is a pain to get right, but its generally around the first kinks inside rumble - I generally get on the brakes right before it and cut two wheels over it. Brake in a straight line to about 95 kph, and then stop braking and turn in slightly. Let the car rotate so you are pointed to be parallel to the inside of the track between the 2nd and 3rd kinks. Clip the 2nd kink's rumble with your inside tire, slide a little out, and line up to shoot through the 3rd kink and the left turn right before T2. This is tricky because you'll bounce around abit, making it hard to setup for the next two turns after T2. Your T2 should be around 29.2 or so.

Line up to go straight through the two turns following T2, and brake soon after you pass them. It'll seem like you are braking in the middle of the track... proceed to slow to maybe 105kph... cut in and put your outside tires on the inside rumble (this means you'll have two tires on the grass). Due this for the apex, and then slowly come to the outside of the corner to maximize acceleration through the finish.

Bah, thats more wordy than I wanted it to be...

I'm not sure if I am handling the last section best before the finish, but it seems to work okay for me. The biggest pain on this track is that outside-inside-outside is not really the fastest way because of how close all the corners are and how much speed this car can carry.

13.136
29.630

great combo 👍 ,and cheap,.........it makes me dizzy without alcohol :dopey:

First time playing in about a month. I'm finding it incredibly difficult to get used to not using my controller, becuase that broke. And the one that I'm using now, both of the control sticks spin around freely, so it's really tough to be precise. Here what I have so far:

13.169
29.697

Thats basically what I am doing with one difference ... thats not being as fast at T2 :sly: Nice write up mate and totally on the ball 👍

btw! .. saw a 12.8 T1 earlier this afternoon but only just managed a 29.0 T2 and then stuffed it on the last turn :ouch: I will persist as I think I can maybe grab another tenth if luck is on my side
