  • It is expected that all division winners will post their settings in the results thread.

Stewards Comments:

This week isn’t just about driving skill, it’s also about tuning skill. If you are one of those drivers who tend to be just below the podium in your division, then this could be your chance to snatch a podium if you come up with good GT-Mode settings.

My advice to anyone who is going to run this; Always start by hotlapping with default settings, and only then start tuning once you know you've reached your limit with them.

When you are ready to tune, only change one setting at a time, remember what works and what doesn’t, and most importantly, write it down on paper, or make a log in notepad, for example. If you do this, you will learn where improvements are gained, and it will fair you well in future GT-Mode challenges. 👍

YAY on the combo but ??? on the tyres ... not only tuning skills but also right foot control for this week I'd say.

Great work Jerry, and very sweet you give us a peek at next week again 👍

I love the next week teaser Jerry, cool stuff. Will try to run some anti-tranny trick settings and see how it feels.

Jerome

Should prove intresting for myself as ive never ran in GT mode on WRS, and also not the best at tuning and really not good on N tyres lol but good job jerry! keep them coming.

Best of luck everyone! ill try keep up with you again alex :sly:

QUIK!

You know me, I'll run 'em all but this will surely test my patients to the limit.
💡 I hope there's a fresh bottle of Woodford in the locker.

Is it me or does the car accelerate when you let off the gas pedal and the rpm's are high? Going though the tunnel the car goes all by it self.
Its like the car accelerates on it own.
Maybe its the ds2? Or the stage 3 turbo . I'm also using an auto transmission.

EDIT: It was the ASM. I haven't used it in so long, I forgot what it felt like. I had it on 2. I'm looking for any assistance because I'm back racing with the ds2, but that ASM ain't helping.

Looks like another fun and challenging week again Sphinx. Should be easy to figure the car out in a weeks time. 👍

We'll very intresting combo i brought the car set it up to how i thought may be best, and did 5 laps from what i can see with my settings it's not the spinning but a mixture of over steer and under steer, also alot of slideing which would be the N2's kicking in i guess...

First Laps Splits before i go to pool match!

T1 0'22.428
T2 0'40.675

QUIK!

Looks good 👍 I'll spend the next weeks switching between GT4 and GT5P. By the way, from now on I'm using a G25 instead of my old DFP.

I like driving these cars better than the already setup gas n go race cars. GT mode is the whole reason I got into this game.

That being said, I do NOT like this car on these tires. No way can you slosh it. Haven't had much interest in the WRS these last couple weeks but this will surely bring me back seeing as I don't really know how to tune.

First run slightly tuned, default gearing:

T1 22.077
T2 39.708

Well my Opel already has 125 miles on it and I came up with these times.

First splits

22.680
40.419

All my fastest clean laps are only .100 apart. The t times are all over though. :scared:

Starting to get the hang of it now. :)

Wish I could use a dfp, seems like it would be awesome with this combo.

The Viper on this track is a Sunday LAN favorite of Jakes. Hope you get to run it Jake

EDIT: It was the ASM. I haven't used it in so long, I forgot what it felt like. I had it on 2. I'm looking for any assistance because I'm back racing with the ds2, but that ASM ain't helping.

No ASM needed. Tuning canhelp with this car, but braking before the corner and keeping at least some throttle applied during the corners should help you keeping the car on track 👍

I'll be up with a setup later this week

Missed last week, F1CE sucked me right in (really like that Sepang track). I love GT Mode, but the freaking odometer telling me EXACTLY how much time/effort I devote to these races makes me feel a little pathetic. Won't stop me though. At least I can quit without saving, start again, and pretend I hit the ground running!

By the way, from now on I'm using a G25 instead of my old DFP.
Nice one 👍 .. I hopefully will be getting a G25 within the next few days. I've tried both and it's definitly the puppy to get :sly:

Looking forward to this week a lot. I love tuning my GT cars.

Yay for GT Mode! Put your brains and your skills to the test!

Well, I'm not sure brains, because you almost have to relearn everything and ignore real life settings, but still!

Excited to see this combo, and next week's combo. I should have some time on my hands this week too!

How do we go in terms of Limited slip diff's and stuff, or transmissions?

Fully customizable on both?

EDIT: Or are all the non power upgrades optional or required?

Does anyone else dislike these types of "challenging" races?

Ones where the challenge isn't driving fast, it's driving slow enough that the car can take the corners without losing too much time?

Lots of times I have to go back out to the menu and go back in because my "new best lap" ghost is from a lap where I bounced off the walls from going too fast, and ended up getting a faster time. This wasn't wall riding BTW, just hitting them on corner exits.

Like the corvette race a few weeks back, I have trouble going slow enough to take the corner, or wrestling the wheel to get the tires to grip once it starts drifting, instead of pushing the car to it's limits (I'm actually going WAY past them), trying different lines, different steering inputs.

Speaking of slow, in the first left hander in the tunnel, 95% of the time I try to take a late apex so I can get on the throttle in a straighter line, but I find that once I try turning in for the apex, I'd already been at the limit through the turn, and turning in for the apex simply isn't possible anymore. Going slow enough to actually take the apex results in my ghost from a previous lap, sliding wildly across the road, actually passing me on the outside and getting a faster exit.

This is a challenge where the fastest driver is the one who can drive slowly "better".

Not my cup of tea.

I'm still taking part in this just because it will make me a better driver in the end, but the fun factor has already started to leave.

EDIT: First clean splits in a LONG time:

T1:21.470
T2:38.145

Yes that is insanely quick, I don't see a full second anywhere in that sector.

Or 3 in the next one.

Please excuse me for mentioning this, but what you're actually saying in your post is that you have no clue about racing lines and how to drive a car fast properly. Skilled drivers don't make up time on the straights, but in the corners where they can maintain a higher speed than others. The keys to that higher cornering speed are throttle control and delicate steering, but mostly: not braking too late.

BOARD INIT

Despite what the steward says I always start these races by using the best tune I can find and then adjust to my liking. Why waste time finding what's good for the car when someone else already did that? But that's only captain slow/craplap champion babbling about :)

Because you'll learn absolutely nothing that way. That's why I'm a good tuner and you're not. It's as simple as that.

I just don't understand why anyone who bleats on about wanting GT-Mode all the time because they enjoy tuning, and yet, as soon as they get one, they go off and use somebody else's settings. The mind boggles, it really does.

It's not just about "what's good for the car", it's about what's good for you and the car. You won't achieve anything by starting with other peoples settings.

Wow, this is hard.

I bought the car new out of the dealership just for this WRS. I've put over 120 miles on it just trying to get decent times and I STILL haven't been able to run a clean lap.

I'll have to check my settings tonight-I used the "B" settings where you have to add each part that you have purchased, I know my HP figure was correct. I'm thinking I didn't switch to N2 tires-I'm usually not very quick early in the week.
