Nice times guys, I will give this one a shot soon.

Thanks a lot for the tips hotboi šŸ‘.

What are R5's? Are they a type of tyre?...and what do you mean cheating :dunce:

R5=Racing Super Soft.

And I think what Watson means is that they are so grippy that it feels like cheating.

Elementary really ;)

you care correct sir!

I'm having fun over here trying to learn this track but there's one thing bugging me: Why does this car have a passenger but no driver? :sly:

Seems like a fun one this week. Very tough to stay clean in the middle of the course. Best I've seen at T2 is 1'18.6, but would be happy to break into the 1'17 range.

28 Exciting laps later...
46.835 / 1'21.277

There's still a lot of time to be had. I always seem to mess up somehow, I choke a lot. It happens on the last chink a lot. Out of these 28 laps, I'm thinking only 10% of them are actually 100% clean! :dunce:

I want to at least improve my final time by another .500. I know I can, but I always choke!

Does anybody have any tips for the hairpins? I can never get them right. :dunce:

SRD, long time no see. I missed some of you early week competitors. Great to have you back.

New splits, chopped .8 off my time. I can see another .8-1 second by the end of the week without TOO much problem...

46.118
1'20.565

And damn, H boys, going that fast for T1!?! I've seen 45.7xx and I thought it was pretty damn scorching...

Sounds like an interesting combo this week. šŸ‘

Will give it a try tonight and submit some splits tomorrow.

Good luck all.

Just enough time to say
T1: 45.260
T2: 1'19.130

After a week off during the 4th of July weekend here in the States, I got side-tracked and had little time to do anything, including racing here in the WRS...

However, now that life is somewhat back to normal, I'll be around a lot more often to race..but then again, with the times I've been able to obtain lately, I'll be lucky to get a top 10! :-)

Hear Hear!

I discovered this when we were running the SRT-4 at New York. Checking the data I found it could wipe off 140 km/h in about 40 metres under braking. That would only be realistic for an F1 car.

R5 tyres should be banned!!

I don't know about that <off topic sort of> I saw a *sweet* Ford Fairlane 500 286 the other day, perfect white/chrome exterior (not a *spot* of imperfection), perfect red leather interior (I took 5-10 minutes to walk around it in the parking lot and have a gander) - had some fat Firehawk Indy 500 tires on it - don't know if it was a sleeper or not, but I imagine with tires like that on a car like that he had something special under the hood - and if you have something special under the hood R5's are a force to be reckoned with ;)

Finally got some time on the track...

T1 45.888
T2 1'19.933

Got lots of work to do!

-Scott

Took another good crack at it, and got a clean:

44.986 / 1'17.716

Botched up the end to the tune of .200 or so, and left about .250 on the first part, so possibly sub 1'17.5 may happen with a long session. It's getting harder and harder to keep it clean when pushing this hard. (For me anyway):dopey:

this is to dam fun!

my problem is i kind of hit the long straight at an angle after drifintg out of the turns

In that tight downhill section, think ahead and set up for the next turn. A slower entry speed with a late apex will help you set up for each corner coming up, until the final turn, where you just floor it. Positioning your car properly will help you through there faster.

well, i have to stand up for Puck927 and Androoos...

i“m also one of those who thinks it“s all about running fast, racing, not sunday driving...

its a matter of taste i guess... me, puck, or androoos would pick the 787 or the RX-7 LM to go on this track...

i“m afraid some week we are going to have a K-car battle... :yuck:

really, i don“t understand... the fastest drivers here like to drive slow cars under crappy circunstances... at least i know Veil doesn“t like those slow cars, but Curtis loves it and for what i know Holl likes it to...

i have never ever used normal tires in the GT series... because its a RACING game... and it has RACING tires... i don“t know if anyone feels the same, but...

about reality, sure R5 are very grippy (if that word exists) but to me, unrealistic is to throw a car to a wall and keep it going... or to change the power or the weight of a car by %... that“s unreal...

anyway, last night i bought the car and drove three laps too see how it goes... (don“t like the slowness but i will participate of course) i don“t know if anybody notice, but in that big hairpin, after T2, when you brake and shift to 1st, then hit the gas and shift to second, the engine just completely stops the noise, for a split second... its just hilarious of how weak it is... going up that hill, it looks like it needs a blow to get up

no splits, i crashed in different ocasions during those three laps, but even not liking this 130HP beast, it has some fun... it is a car and a circunstance that i would never experience if it wasn“t for the WRS...

just keep it cool with the folks that love race-fast cars on grippy R5“s... seems like thinking on Minolta at this lovelly track would be 🤬 by some, but that“s just what we like... :dopey:

i“ll try to run tonight to see how it goes...

Fasj I suppose you have never seen the Paul Newman Classic "once upon a wheel"? A true racer will race anything, because racing is better than anything else. Also this also represents something somewhat realistic which would be a solo1 course with a very popular car, on street tires. I almost will admit to really liking this weeks challenge, although I just hope I have trime to run decently well.

šŸ‘ dude, I agree with you all the way ... the closer to real life racing for me the better ... but I enjoy every week of racing, whether it's on R5 tyres in a LM S2000, or in a Mini Cooper around Deep Forest ... no matter what, I enjoy it, racing is racing. I think people just prefer certain types because they are better at it, I suppose ...

No one is forcing you to race, if you hate it so much dont race. btw Have you tried anything remotly powerful on this track, not only is it a ***** to be clean its so frustrating, I once drove a Lancia Delta S4 around this track and even with R5's it was so insane an hard to get clean laps. You can express your opinion thats fine but i think your going a bit to far, I dont need to see 3 paragraphs on why its a crap combo and how CFM has done a bad job thanks :grumpy: šŸ‘Ž

Im not sure if you class me as a fast driver but i happen to like the odd momentum race as it teaches you skills that arnt as noticble on the faster cars. Corner speed is the key, If you can become fast with these guys you will be faster with the fast cars.

so does this car only come in burgundy or green in real life tooo todd?

well i've been away for 3 weeks (dont suppose anyone missed me??!!), and everything seems to have gone mental!!!! :dunce:

so much has changed yet so much has stayed the same. will there ever be a week where a moderator doesnt get some sort of abuse from someone (not including vexd cos he moans about everything!!)??

you've all been racing well and talking even better! 🤬

well i for one am loving this week. i cant tire of this course or its complexities!

seem to be 2 seconds behind the top boys, but thats good enough for me - watch out GT Fan cos i'm baaaaaaaaaaacccccccckkkkkkkk!!! ;)

I love the way that there's a VERY offensive english profanity hidden in the middle of one of your spelling mistakes there fasj!

I wonder if anyone else noticed?

Slips like that just make me laugh.

I am enjoying this combo, but not enjoying the fact that i appear to have gotten close to flat out, and have been stuffed by CFM through T's 1 and 2 already.
Humph:grumpy:

I shall have to try harder, if i get time.

As for the raging debate.

Fasj, have you ever seen the porsche ruf video of some insane 80's driver taking the yellow bird around the ring?
He's steering all over the place!!!

Try the yellow bird with RD tyres round the ring, and what do you get?

The same experience he had, without the weight shift.
Now thats fun, and that's what this game, and the WRS is all about.

If you havent seen the vid or tried the combo, off you go.

Guys I was watching a show about a free faller dieing on El capitan- is that related to the race track or is this track fictional?

I don't want to put more fire in it, but fasj, you crossed the line at this one... it's ok to you to love racing fast cars! No problem! But not everybody is equal (thank God for that!) so there is people who enjoys racing normal cars... damn, PD even trowed us some K-crap racing!

As I said before, racing normal slower slugshier cars is the best way to distinguish the driver's abilities :) Just like F1 has been for the past feew years... racing fast cars that will do everything themselfs is easy. The hard way is to win using your skills instead of the car's ones. Let the 200 A Spec races speak for themselves...

Now back to the program... let's race, people! :)

Those comments should be read.

As regarding the El Capitan on the programme situation, i believe its an actual mountain in the states somewhere, which is why its on the news....

am i right?

I would like someone to tell me whether they stay in 3rd through the twisty near the top of the hill, waaaayyyyy before T1.

CFM?

Hotboyo? (that's what they'd call you in wales)

Holl?

And i just read somewhere that someone changes to 1st for the hairpin after T2, fasj, was it you?

NO!!!!!

Slide the first half of the turn in 3rd, and then hit 2nd before regaining your composure, and driving out at around 30MPH or its KPH equivalent.

Help!

:irked:šŸ‘

El Capitain is in Yosemite National Park, of course. People BASE jump off of it all the time. I think if you bring up the park road map, you may be able to see that the track itself MAY be modeled after real roads in the valley.

As for this week, I'm loving it. I like the challenge. Something for everybody (over the weeks, that is). I didn't like last week's nearly as much, but I did love the NSX challenge as well so it's all about taste.

Oh, and BTW, GT4 is the "Drive of Your Life" (or something to that effect), not the "RACE of Your Life". Should say something about the intent of the programmers, no?

the race track is fiction, but in a real place. El Capitan is the name of a real mountain in Yosemite national park.

try driving and untuned Amuse Carbon R around this track, holy hell! I did a lap around this track with the Carbon R where the tires never stopped spinning, even down the long straights.
