@VTracing... mine only says economy, confort and road on the quick screen, where did you found N3?

maybe i´m lost :dunce:

that is what mine said too, and I am using the road tires. which I don't understand why people think they are not grippy, they are probably the equivalent to some Advan A032R's

Put some time in and got:

45.996
1'19.614

I agree that the last uphill left-hander before the start/finish is v. important - you could easily lose .4+ seconds by taking it too cautiously, as I did on the above lap. But I'm amazed that hotboi (and others probably) can cross the line at 115km/h, the highest I've managed is 111km/h a couple of times, but it's usually about 107 at best, and I can never keep the RPMs above 5500 in third.
For the end of a hotlap, is everyone tapping the brake before that last corner or just letting off the throttle? I use the brake, but that might be because I always lose my nerve there.

The other key section is obviously the tight twisty section after T2, but i think that's beyond explanation - you just have to "use the force".

i don't think you can keep it about 5500 in third just right at 5500 or a tiny bit over, and at the end I let off the throttle at a specific spot and then lightly brake just enought to turn the car but always try to keep the rpm's at 5000 or above in 3rd, it is hard at the end of the lap to keep them at 5500 but the beginning isn't to bad.

I find it better not to use the force on this week's race because this MX-5 is just reluctant to my force given command's. maybe if I get Yoda in the passenger seat or something but until that happens I am steering clear of any thing "The Force" related. :)

For folks with 1'20 T2 times you might be breaking too early at the entrance to the tunnel after T1. and for the people that read the lap descriptions just read it and give it a few runs and see if it works for you and just keep driving until you aren't thinking about anything, don't think about when do I need to brake for this turn and all that just drive until you aren't thinking you are just driving. not only can this make you very fast, it is also much more fun.

At first, I was hitting the line faster using 2nd up the hill but after several attempts using 2nd and 3rd, I have concluded that 3rd is faster if you hit the last turn just right. I know I should have listened to Hotboi but sometimes (usually)I just don't have the ability to do what he does.

no you should have listened to me when I said keep it in 3rd and at 5500rpm! and what color is everyone using? I am using the green one because I just don't get purple.

Why should I listen to you, you're in Div. 3! (just kidding)

I like to use the opposite color of my ghost.

Purple? Looks like Merlot Mica to me.

I will tear you apart M F-er! ;) the battle for D3 dominance has begun!

Merlot Shmerlot! An MX-5 drove through a beet field and they didn't wash it, (why did I say beet field? I just watched the Aviator again)

Ok - I searched the whole thread and didn't find my answer.

I've *finally* got a VR-Limited (J) available in the used showroom, but not a VR-Limited (NA, J) - and according to this list:

bhawk776

There aren't any (NA, J)'s available...

So, is the VR-Limited (J) acceptable, or do I have to burn days until an (NA, J) rolls around? Is the NA part refering to Normally Aspirated or is it an entirely different model? Is it PAL only? (I'm on NTSC)

Thanks to anybody that actually answers me this time ;)

<edit> Nevermind I bought the thing anyway, and for whatever reason, the (NA) part shows up in Arcade mode, but NOT in GT Mode - WTF?

well i think i left mayb .2 on the track from the first sector, but i ended up improving my time by another .3 from that dirty run

0'44.671 (wish i can hit the 0'44.430 again)
1'17.174 (which should alow me to get a 1'16.934)

the final corner i was able to turn in at a 100km/h

Had quite a good session tonite with no interuptions (for a change)

T1 46.178 - really happy with this!
T2 1'20.270 - loosing time through the first half of the tight twisties

Don't know how Hot is getting round the final left at 100kmh can only manage 87-92kmh, and that's only about 20% of the time!
It's definately make or break for two laps!

UMP, if all the specs of the car are the same, im pretty sure you can use it... but i dunno
gotta wait for CFM's decision

On the first(or last) uphill towards the finish, if you're using a wheel, try keeping full acceleration and just tap the brakes a bit. I picked up some speed doing this.Times are dropping, but very slowly.

46.035
1'19.943

guys, dont know if i should give the secret away...

but for that uphill left that every1 seems to be having trouble with
- you need to use the x-tra little bit of space on the right side of the road to give youself a bigger arc to turn in~

the battle for D3 dominance has begun!

Just watch your back guys. I'm running my first run tonight....If I can find the car in the PAL version...You have to buy it used, right....

Altough, I think I'm really only going to get friday afternoon to run this, as I am away on the weekend....

Thank you, I think I've got it right though.

Posting an abysmal

T1: 48.xxx
T2: 1'24.xxx

And still haven't gotten a clean lap. But I'm not one that seems to be having a problem with that last upill left - I carry it in 3rd gear and cross the start/finish at right around 60mph

Well in the absense (sp?) of Kolyana I figured I'd 'Man Up' and choose purple. I can't wait to put in some more time today, 15 laps doesn't cut the mustard for three days :indiff: . But my bowling league is two weeks away from finishing then I'll have another day to race! BONUS!

Nice run hot, I knew you left some time on the end of the track, as I would always gain on you there. Glad you got a better clean lap. Honesty almost always ends up paying off. 👍 That T1 you had on the lap you sent me was damn near perfect, I could not get any closer than .150 to it after many tries. Anyway my best splits are now:

44.720 / 1.17.275

I really smoked T1-T2 section, but my finish could use a bit more work. At least I met my goal already so any more improvements will just be a bonus.:)

shoot for taking the last turn @ 59-60mph and be hitting the finish up near 65-67mph or so.

its a bit iffy, but i've gone through it @ 61mph before.
but it really makes a huge difference.

if your exit speed is above 57mph the car will accelerate all the way up the hill... where as if your exit speed is 55-ish, the car won't pick up speed until your almost cresting into the "open" area for the start/finish line.

Finally i will race this today, when i get home. Im curious to see how slow or fun to drive, this car is so far. :)

I think I may go buy a Miata just so I can drive it off a bridge, because that's what I want to do after driving almost 30 laps and only improving my T2 by 0.2. I did however improve my overall time by 1 second, just goes to show how much time I'm losing in every sector. So far:

T1: 46.201 (can't hit the chicane straight enough, and can't take the hairpin fluidly)
T2: 1:20.2XX (I know I can pick up at least .5 on this)

The last sector is horrible for me. I can't seem to hit the hairpin right, and if I have a good lap going I always take the last chicane atrociously slow.

Hopefully I can get some help from Drew22 when I meet up with him this weekend, because otherwise I'm not going to be competitve. Well, I better go get some more practice in.

Wow, I have a lot of improvement then. I've been trying to hit it at 54-55, and crossing the line at 61-62. That would probably make low 45's fairly easy to hit.

had a quick go last night and did not make any progress with the ds2, best splits where over half a sec slower than hots, dam!

44.661
1'17.701

finished brilliantly though, it was an incredible last corner, didnt drop below 102km/h and hit the line at 113km/h, i think i'll get my dfp out 4 the weekend and try and be competitve this week at least.

cya guys

Well guys I had a first lap that was .1 faster, but it was dirty (wasn't sure at the time) so I ran another session right after and was clean, but I had to save the 'regular' way and not the 'ghost' way because it wanted to save the dirty time, o well...lol. Here's the splits for the clean lap after about another hour today. I know MOST of you guys are just kickin' @$$ and takin names here, but I however am human and I am NOT A MACHINE...lol. Great times so far guyz.

EDIT: I can now hit 45.3 to .5 consistently, but the challenge is getting under 1:19, I did it once on a DIRTY F#*$&#(*&ING LAP. DAMMIT! This one is tough, I can't wait to get into something FAST, can we say F1?!?!?!? *HINT*

First clean splits:

T1: 0'45.773
T2: 1'19.994

Finally worked out the whole tyre issue. When selecting the car you get these normal tyres options:

Economy = N1
Comfort = N2
Road = RD

but on the quick-tune screen they've changed to:

Economy = N1
Road = N2
Sports = RD

I have no idea why, and I am assuming it's only in PAL versions of the game.

New splits in the "Purple" MX-5

T1 0'45.238
T2 1'18.571

This place reminds me a lot of Cote...hhmmm....how did I do there a few weeks back? 11th F#$*&#ING place....AAAHHHH!!! I DESPISE these clausterphobic (sp?) tracks!!! 👎 :yuck: :dunce: :crazy: :sick:

I just ran 8 laps, got this on my third. Without the doubt to key to this track is the first half. Well for me anyway. The only real other place to make time is the first downhill left down the alley.

T1 - 46.615
T2 - 1'20.330

I've went well under 46 at T1 in the last few laps but managed to back end the wall....

I only found that out late last night. I have been running the week on N2 tyres, no wonder my times were so slow. :banghead:

My new splits after 5 laps are:

T1: 0'47.324
T2: 1'22.186

Now that I have the correct tyres, I'm sure I will be a lot more closer to the other times. 👍

Well, I've just given it a long session, not sure how many long sessions I can put in from here until submission time:

T1: 0'45.981
T2: 1'19.441

I lost 0.5 in T1 but everywhere else I was pretty close to my limits I think. I'll have another crack tomorrow, I'm done for the night.

Later folks 👍
