Gave it one last go (I hope).

1st Lap: 59.090
Best Lap: 52.516 (seen a 52.2 and hows this, the run before this one lap 4 and lap 5 was a 52.421! Saved the replay for those interested)

When I pass the finish line the 2nd place dude passes me on the opposite side of the track (+/- 40secs... No idea actually).

Damn man! I know I can match 59.090 lap 1, but TWO laps at 52.4!?

That's it, I'm not driving tonight. I'm going to hand out with my family tonight. Somebody's GOTTA convert that replay to NTSC for us because that's EPIC! I must be doing something wrong both with my driving and with my NOS strategy.

Looks like three WRS4 new winners in a row. Let's keep this trend going.

Curtis, where are you!? Dan?? Ben?

So, what AI lineup are you working with, kart?

Later,

-SHig (sorry I woke the beast!!)

3 submissions so far. We'll probably end up with less than 20 submissions. This is gonna be the chance for many of us to step on the podium in their div ;)

yes, was a tough race, plus holidays and also the NOS strategy, that´s why we will have a low number of guys running...

personally i loved the combo, and really liked seoul, before i had never really paid attention on this track (in fact i don´t even remeber seeing in reverse form before)

even playing for 50 hours or so i wouldn´t catch kart´s time, but i´m happy with what i got in little time...

Tough indeed. I wasn't feeling good at ALL for the longest time until I finally came up with a setup, strategy, and AI lineup that worked for me. BTW, it took me far too long to realize that R4/R5 was just plain dumb for me. After going R4/R4, things started coming together. Also, I still hate the braking on this Skyline but after giving the thing long enough to get down to turn-in speed, it's working okay. Just need to adapt. Finally, I am currently using stock LSD and I don't know if it's helping or not, but it feels GOOD. Semi-soft setup, moderate ride height (80-85 F/ 80-85 R) and VCD 10, ASM U 3. I know I have at least an easy second left in it but don't know if I'll give it a go or not.

Seoul as a track doesn't seem like it should be too hard to master, but being new and in the reverse direction, it's a steep learning curve. Carrying good speed through and speed on exit of the esses seems like a key to a low time. Also keeping cool and not going to the gas too early in the u-turn is tough.

Looking forward to El Cap though. Spent plenty of time there in the game as well as WRS so re-learning the track should be easy. Now, what car will Cyril be using... Hmm... Christmas, lights, Skyline Pace Car? :) The only other car I can think of with unique lights are the Le Mans cars with the Indiglo number plates and the Mazda 787 with the funky red beacon. Rudolph the Red Beaconed Mazda?

I can't believe that I ran this race so many times to prepare, but not once since it's been posted.
First session tonight, very frustrating because I saved a crap time and wasted all faster ones while trying to overtake the Zonda. :grumpy:
I hope I can give it another try tomorrow before deadline or else I'll be dead last another time.

As for week 37, shhhhht! it's still a secret.

What AI lineup are you working with? At any rate, I pass the Zonda accelerating through the second turn on the second lap. Once you pass him, he gets terminal "loser syndrome" and stops pushing. If you don't pass and gap him, he'll keep pushing and make it hard for you to pass or he'll rearend you so I always NOS away a bit after passing. I've tried passing under braking going into the first corner but he always comes back to hit me once I'm through so I wait...

It takes more happy gas to get close enough to the Zonda at the end of the first lap to get in the draft, but the whole straight is "free speed" with no NOS used because of his tow.

This week's challenge definitely has grown on me. So that's three weeks 👍 in my book Cyril. Too bad I haven't had the time to really put into it this week. Still got a glimmer of a hope for a podium if I put in some time tonight...

p.s. Funny thing... The "Ads by Google" in the bottom banner usually have some links to Drifting or Audi, VW, or whatever parts related to our topics of discussion of the week, but I was floored to find ads this time for monkey products! Too funny!

I'm just crap on this track and I'm way too careful in the turns. I usually end up catching up the Zonda at the end of the small straight (lap 2) and hit him while trying to brake later than him on the outside of the circle.
Next week will suit my driving style better ;)

 Try restarting the race from the beginning a time or two, to get a diff. field to race against.

Beat my goal by over 2 seconds :dopey: Will be submitting now :sly:

Alright boys, guess what!?!? I now have the ability to view PAL version replays!!! WOOTT!!!! I 'found' a GT4 PAL disc and using my 'special ps2 hardware' I can now play GT4 PAL AND view some replays, so if you guys from Australia, Europe etc need a replay and no one else is around, feel free to shoot me a pm 👍 💡 And as for this week....time time time....I wanted to spend more time on it but these 'holiday plans' sorry for the minimal comp, heck I wasn't even gonna touch the wrs during my rally series, so it *could be worse...lol. Laters!

Well I couldn't let this one go, I had never used NOS after I'd learnt Manual so I had to give it a crack....I know it's late but hopefully it's a decent effort.

Lap 1: 1'01.372
Best: 0'54.534

It took a while to work out a strategy to get around those damn AI but I finally have a clean race.

Time submitted 👍

Well, I guess I can either give this comp one more go, or get some sleep.

Sleep wins! Time submitted.

Not a great race I submitted, but not bad either. Just nice and safe and controlled. Certainly not a way to win!

I ended up with a little different setup, mainly increased the brakes a bit (7-5) so I could stop quicker and more linear. It seemed to save life on the front left towards the end, but it was a bit squirmy. Slammed (75-79) and softened (11.5-9.3) the suspension a bit, but kept the bars stiff. I also used the standard LSD. The car seemed to pivot a bit better. But it's hard to say. I just didn't put in enough seat time this week to really figure it out completely.
Still, anytime we use one of the "R" cars from Nissan, I gotta jump in! :)

Laters!

I gave it a go. Was seriously considering holding what I had but I installed a new cupholder on my cockpit so I had to try it out, no?

Well, TWO SECONDS off my previous best! Raised the car another 5 mm and bumped the NOS to 40. Used shorter bursts on L1, none to very little on L2, about a bar's worth on L3,4,5, and more on 6 and 7.

L1 59.920
Fastest 53.743

Again, L3,4,5 were within 0.05" of each other and L2 and L6 were only a few tenths above that.

Fun FUN week. Three ina row! Didn't think much of this week at first but what a come-from-behind joy. Glad I stuck with it.

Submitted...

Yeah I guess its how you look at it, I just 'prefer' racing in identical cars. And yes when it comes to car tuning, my setups are pretty basic indeed....lol.

@shockwaveracing...now dont get any bright ideas, *I'm* gonna be at the bottom of D1 thank you...hehe.

Jerome

i will race you to it, as for getting bright ideas, well that would involve thinking and that is a bit too much for me right now... :)

First week back in a while, going to submit now... :)

Lap 1: 1'03.xxx
Best: 54.xxx

Nothing special, but good to be racing again 👍

I've only run a total of 7 races, I'm really not a fan of GT Mode or Multi-Laps, so this week really didn't push my buttons. However, I feel my fastest was pretty good, but then again, only doing 7 races, it's probably pretty awful. I set my NOS on setting 37, seemed like a nice random number. Also RS/RSS tyre combo.

But with not many submissions maybe I'll recover from my last place, last week!

I have just submitted.

Gonna transfer my replay to the pc just in-case again.

Will post it anyway i think.

Good race, it was nice to have that push-to-pass capabilty.

Laters dudes, off to the park in the sun.

God the Zonda looks good!

Neil

Blast...

Checked out my replay walking out the door this morning and it appears that I have dragged a side mirror on the wall passing the Rally Raid car in the first short straight.

I didn't get any feedback on the wheel while driving it, and there's no sign of deflection on the replay, but there is a half beat where the speed stays at 144 mph right at that point instead of smoothly accelerating through so without the analyzer, I'm gonna have to play it safe and submit my backup.

GRRR! Gonna lose 0.8".

Oh well, did better than I expected but there's a load still out there. By no means all I could get so I can't complain.

Glad I forgot to submit last night of I may have been screwed!

-SHig

Don't think .8's gonna make a hell of a lot of difference this week Shig, considering it's over 7 laps.

Mind you, now i've typed it, it probably will. (knowing my luck) :dopey:

The gap between the fastest and the slowest submitted times so far is 36 seconds !
So 0.8 shouldn't matter (although there are some close times on top of div 2 ;) )

I really missed the analyzer this week. I always use that for touches. I can rarely catch a touch in photomode. The race I was going to submit had a real close one on exit of the first turn. Never felt a thing while driving, no hiccups in the speedo, but in photomode, there was a point where I couldn't see any daylight between the wall and the front fender, so I submitted my backup also...... which was .6 slower. :indiff: Oh well, better to know you have a 100% clean one submitted than risking a DQ.

Great, Div2, close finishes, that makes a change! :odd: NOT!

Time submitted, had no time to really give it a go, but at least I had a clean race.Dead last in Div.2 and maybe Div.3 also
