I just don't see how y'all are going SO DAMN FAST!

But here are my newest splits:

Lap 1: 1'33.583
Fastest Lap: 1'24.276

My fastest lap ever is in the 1'24.0xx range -- how the hell I'm gonna get a 1'21.xxx is just beyond me!

I'm not sure how I'm going so fast either (I just pulled a first lap that was .6 faster than holls....how the heck??...of course I stuffed it the next corner) but I still can't match his 1'20.5xx....

Something has to be wrong with my car...or I was dropped on my head and aquired insane driving skills

My suggestions Laurence
(uses holls settings)
1st corner: drift before the apex and pass the black car on the inside.
2nd corner: after drafting the silver car, out brake it and stay in the groove on the track, drafting the white lancer in the process
Double Apex: out brake the silver lead car and stay in 4th for the entire corner. Hit the first apex, then swing out to the left edge, then apex again.
Just after T2: Shift down to 3rd and hit the apex, then stay to the right of the track until the left turn.
Hairpin: brake to 3rd, staying wide left at the start, then hit the apex, and FULL throttle out (it will seem like it will hit the grass, but stay on it).

That should help shave 4 seconds off your 1st lap and maybe a second or two off your 2nd+3rd laps

My Set-Up If anyone is interested (Not Likely, but anyway)

11.3/9.3
96/92
6/6
5/5
1.6/0
1/0
6/4

Gears @ 8
1.5 Way LSD
VCD @ 39

Interesting Idea With The Lsd, Will Have To Try That Out When I Next Have A Stab At This

Quick question, on this track the rumble strip at places gives way to "grassy" rumble strips like between the two right-handers after T1. Are they fair game or not?

EDIT: Nevermind me, just had to read 1st post again :sly:

I put together a good race (not my best, but my best was dirty), but I want someone (NTSC and either Div 1 or 3) to check it for cleanliness. I'm still paranoid of week 47-48's events, so I can't trust myself...For some reason, I don't think I should be going this fast, but everytime I check, everything is ok.
Just reply if you want to check it and I will pm the replay to you.
(Note: I get really close to going off the big slab on lap 3, but as far as I can see, I never put 3 wheels on).

No Dont Was Joking I'm Div2!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only that i'm PAL format (UK)

Sorry for missleading you, thought it'll be funny but then you go and believe me :sly:

I know....and your PAL, so you couldn't watch it anyway :)

EDIT: forgot you can't have attachments on PMs....so if someone wants to check it, pm me your email so I can send it to you

And nice work converting from DS2 to DFP Clemi, relaly good job 👍

How would I go about getting my replay on to my computer? Can I just take a few pictures with my digital camera and send them in?

I would suggest checking this post out. 👍

^^ no you need a Max Drive, made by Datel. It comes with the software on the flash drive and the PS2 disk. If you can't find it (like me) get an Action Replay Evo with the flash drive included. Just go to Max Memory on the main menu to copy files to the flash drive (or vice versa).

gran_champ
okay thanks, so all I need is a flash drive?

If you'd like to participate in the comp you don't have to purchase a max drive. Replays are requested from the fastest drivers each week and if they can't provide a replay then the race is disqualified, but all the other competitors aren't made to provide a replay. So in the long run it is probably a good idea to purchase a maxdrive but it's not necessary to do it straight away 👍

Simply race the qualifier race detailed here and PM your time to Flat-out, make sure you put a decent effort in the qualifier because if you only put a couple of laps in, you may be placed in a lower division than you're suited to. Once that's done feel free to participate in the current race

This is exactly what you need to do.
Thanks for pointing the "newb" in the right direction.

As for the race...
I can't say I will be in for sure but I will definately give it a try. :sly:
I just hope I can hold out for longer than I did with the McLaren (man that was a long race!)
Btw, flat-out, this does look like a really fun race.

(uses holls settings)

I am using Holl01's settings, with just a couple of minor tweaks that seem to fit my driving style a little better.

1st corner: drift before the apex and pass the black car on the inside.
2nd corner: after drafting the silver car, out brake it and stay in the groove on the track, drafting the white lancer in the process

White Lancer? What's a white Lancer doing in an all-Subaru event? Perhaps you're doing the wrong race, and that's why you're going so fast?

Flat-out
Game mode :
GT Mode / Japan / Subaru / Events / Stars of Pleiades / Race 4 at Deep Forest reverse (3 laps)

Are you taking the above steps to get to the race? Just checking... :)

MrW, any chance you can check a raplay for me via e-mail? (or any willing div1/3 racer)

I'm still not sure if those "grassy rumble strips" are part of the "cobblestone" the rules allow us to run on.... could sum1 please help this noob:dopey:

Sure mate, just email it to Mr_Cruwys (at) yahoo (dot) com (dot) au 👍

Finally got my first lot of clean splits (I think). I've been having a lot of fun with this one. Nice combo Flat-out 👍

T1 0'31.050
T2 1'01.515
FL 1'30.044

T1 0'24.830
T2 0'55.567
FL 1'24.450

T1 0'24.862
T2 0'56.130
FL 1'2X.XXX

Not happy with my times on laps 2 and 3, I've been going a couple of seconds faster but I think I got scared and was trying to protect my first lap time too much. :dunce:

Slight skirmish overtaking the 1st placed car in the right hander at the bottom of the hill, I'm assuming this would be considered a clean pass as there was no collision sound and it was only my rear quarter gently tapping his front wing as I passed (rubbings racing?) If this is considered dirty then please don't post my time on the leader board? Reply device is in the mail so I can't get anyone to check it yet. Should have a faster time later anyway, assuming I don't bottle it again!! :ouch:

I had so much time on this last nite I think I've won enough of these races to pay for all the mods so I think Im actually gaining credits now, (already had the car in the garage, just hadn't driven it yet).

Oh well, back to working on my real car for a few hours :grumpy: then another blast around the simulated forest tonight, with a bit of luck I won't be last again this week? :)

Any touch is automatically a dirty race so I'd suggest doing it again...it's harsh but without a black and white rule it's hard to definitively say who's at fault, at least with any touch it's simple to determine clean vs dirty 👍

On a different note I am wondering about the odd looking area between some of the rumble strips that is not quite cobblestone but not quite grass??? I have checked Clemi's replay and a few points he ventures onto this area:

I'd suggest we will need Cyril's clarification of these areas 👍

That stuff is 'Grass-crete'. a concrete lattice with grass growing between the gaps.

It's not solid concrete or tarmac, nor is it solid dirt/grass. Funny stuff, but a common safety feature at a lot of tracks. Gives better grip than dirt/grass and because of the texture gives a very good warning of running wide without causing serious crashes.

My opinion would be 'out-of-bounds' classed as grass.

Neil

Well if it's infact "out of bounds:ouch: " i need to know sooner
rather than later to try a clean race.

Was just wondering.... am i the only racer venturing out that far? :odd:

No!

Here's a photo of my second lap, just after the first corner.

It's right on the edge, might have to re-run after all.

Not sure if the paler line is still track, or grass-crete?

What's the concensus of opinion on the boundry of the tarmac?

Neil
