Nice to see the "Oldskool" GT OLR drivers laying the smack down at such a ripe old age. Way to kick some ass you two! :) Back to the nursing home before one of you breaks a hip!:sly:

The following replays are CLEAN also:
  • AngelCreator
  • NightmareHunter

And I seriously don't get the hoopla about "secret" setups. My buddy unified hit me up with the combo last Thursday and asked for a battle, so I raced for about an hour and submitted the time.
Let's see what I changed in my setup:
  • suspension - stock
  • trannie - FC, left the gearing untouched
  • LSD - 1.5
Since I can't setup cars for **** in GT4 I just had a blast while driving this little monster.

And that's what OLRs are all about for me: FUN.

I don't care if I win or lose and I don't race combos I don't like, so...

Just my 2c.

Here's my PAL replay and also an NTSC replay that I ran today that beat my submitted time.

This NTSC lap only took about 10 laps to get and it is yet another indicator that NTSC is somewhat different to the PAL version. I have no real idea why there is a difference but as soon as I started to drive the car I could tell there was a definate difference/improvement in the handling of the car.

Submitted time 1'07.208 / 21.114 / 41.356

NTSC test run 1'07.178 / 21.273 / 41.394

Sweet lap on the NTSC version Jerry 💡

I want to thank the guys 👍 who never agreed with that fool and his crazy view on OLR and what it should be and how it should be run ... I have been racing OLR on GTP since late 2001 and I dont see why I should let moron tell me how to carry myself and I will also say that I would definitely join in with the next GTmode race and do exactly the same thing again and keep a tight lip just to make a simple point! ... no idiot will tell me what to do and you can take that to the bank :dopey:

Time to break the mould :sly:

I tried to stay out of the conversation/fight until now, in fear of getting one side overly angry - either an alien from the old days, or one from the newer days...

In my opinion, while it is nice that Div1 racers to post their setups and tips (and a lot of Div1ers do that), I don't think it's a law. It all depends on the drivers wish - whether he likes it to include a tuning-challenge or not, and whether or not he wants to help slow drivers who aren't consistent enough to test tunings reliably with their tuning (hope it made sense). After all, this is why I prefer Arcade-mode for series such as the WRS - get in, drive the hell out of the car, have fun. No messing around, bad oil, money-problems...

As an example, this week, the settings someone (I think Rob) posted helped me a lot - while on Week 71 (ahhh...) my own settings matched my style better.

And what's a mould?

Damn, thought I had a gold time this week too... Ah well... can't win 'm all etc...

Here's my replay (cautious driving as ever :p)

it looks like you made the right decision by using ASM. 👍 👍

In BC5 JMR used the ASM for his winning run and also back then people raised their eyebrows to it.
Strange to see that nowadays using ASM under\oversteer or even TCS in GT mode is still a kind of a not done issue.
Any way that's the impression I get.

In My Gt runs it always helps to get me faster laps.

Btw great times from Jerry and Ron.

So, did anyone else use standard suspension this week? I wish I had more time to play... Who knows how fast I could've gotten? :sly:

Stock suspension and a 1.5 way diff for me, you were about still about the sort of time ahead of me I would've expected of you this week so it can't have slowed you down too much Kyle. 👍

I've only been here since week 52 so I'd better keep my opinions on this weeks shenanigans to myself but how many WRS'ers have the time to go back to last weeks race with 'better' settings? Cue barrage of posts telling me to piss off and never ask for settings/driving tips...blah blah blah

How's the popcorn Cyril? :D

Darren.

I agree Darren, I'm not gonna get involved, as I only appeared in week 66, but I already feel as if I am a well known member of the WRS.

I do have my own opinions on it though...

How's the popcorn Cyril? :D

Mine's pretty salty, actually...

I think it's a pretty entertaining film here. Absurd, two Div1ers fighting like two GTP Newbies... A pretty big change from the usual "Thank you" "No, I should thank you" atmosphere...

Make that 3.

Anyway let's just stay out of it and let it sort itself out?

I bet you guys are disappointed that there wasn't shared a detailed track guide along with a spreadsheet of settings and an offer to chase a ghost.;)

Sphinx's replay = CLEAN

Interesting way of taking the "S" before T1 by the way and finally someone who let the rear end slide a little. :D 👍

@sjaak68
I can't adapt to the way ASM changes the handling of the car, so I never use it.

Since I mostly drive during LAN sessions and none of the faster drivers use those little helpers it became a habit to avoid them, especially after purchasing a DFP. :dopey:

And jmr is too friggin' fast on anything, damn aliens. :D

While I don't feel it was a nesseccity this week, it could've been nice to have a simple trackguide, seeing I'm a total and utter Midfield newbie...

But the gear-choosing tips by Casio and Mr. P, together with the settings someone (can't recall which one) posted were enough for me.

TBH I couldn't have given a damn for myself. I only raced 30 mins because I didn't like the combo, and I already had a set up that worked for me.
My opinion remains silent.

I find that quite offensive sjaak, what are you trying to say?

Thanks for checking rotbarsch 👍

Send my regards to jmr next time you see him. 👍

True,in LAN races, which I do also regular, driving aids options are always off.
But that's arcade and those aids can really slow you down.

And say Hi to Hugo and Friday on the next RPC in Germany.

I won't make it to RPC due to the lack of munneeeee. :yuck:

But I'm sure Comrade and Wattana will greet all of the above anyway. :)

This didn't need to turn into a big **** fight. I don't understand why you had a go at Cyril Ron? I thought he was just making the point that You, Jerry and Casio were on at the same time which could end up heated (the only correct assumption made in this whole thread) and I don't know why sjaak has had a go at Ben?

The whole thing comes across more as an "us vs them" thing...a "Team Rollers vs GTP" thing, which if it were a healthy rivalry would be fine but it just comes across as bitter and twisted, you looking to participate in the next GT Mode just to stick it to everyone is immature Ron. If you have a beef with Brad then take it elsewhere, everyone else copping your anger isn't necessary.

We're all part of the same OLR community and Jerry posting his Replay Manager here at GTP is a good example of the community we OUGHT to be. Rivalry on the track, mates off the track.

Congratulations to Ron and Jerry on outstanding results, you proved the better racers and car setter-upper-ers this week...Kudos 👍

I aint stupid mate :dopey: I know when someone is having a dig at me! and posting that image was just too blatant to be anything other than pointing out Ron was invisible .... say what you want but we can all call our own judgement on it and I will stick to mine :dunce:

I have no argument with you Mr Weary .... lets keep it that way and agree to disagree .... same with Cyril! he posted something that annoyed me slightly but I can forgive him as he does more good than his occasional slip ;) He's still one of the good guys 👍

I'm on a modem connection in a hotel room, so I didn't have time to read all the stuff posted in the past 24 hours.
But at least I learned something : the little asterisk seems to be showing to mods people who use invisible mode. Do you really think Ron that I have enough time to care about what all those different symbols mean ? Some people appear in bold, others in red, others in italic, some have an asterisk, or a plus sign. I know most of them but never really wondered what the ones I don't know are meaning.
The pic was only meant to show that the only people browsing the thread were you, Jerry and Brad, so the argument could be expected to go on today (which happened indeed).
How the hell can you think that was something directed at you, Ron. You know that I would tell you directly if I had something to tell you, and I wouldn't use such a mean and sneaky way. Remember the thread about Schumacher's retirement ?

I have just in the hotel after a 13 hours long trip and I have only 6 hours left before a big day-long meeting with half a dozen customers. I'll have some sleep now, and all admin and racing issues like updating the results or answering PMs will have wait an extra day. Good night mates.

Edit : What's the big issue with revealing that you browsed the thread anyway ? You've been posting in it, nobody would be surprised that you browse it

Hmmmm .... maybe because i was browsing in invisible mode until your post with the image to make a point of me browsing invisible without being noticed! .... that to me looked disallowed by your posting of the image in the first place ... do you understand me now? We might be different nationalities mate but dont take me for a ****ing idiot! you know that you never post images any other time regarding who is online ... you must think I'm some numb idiot to swallow your lame excuse!

here's my final post in here anyway .... please delete my submission time and replay from these results as I really have no need to be part of this silly charade anymore

It was fun at first but I would rather be out of the equasion now ;) wont post here again unless verbally attacked by an idiot!

Do I understand you... Well, perhaps being a frenchman here doesn't help, but no. I even understand less than before. I post a pic, you're upset, I say I hadn't even paid attention to what has upset you, you're more upset (lame excuse  ).
The only conclusion I draw is that's it's time that I stop trying to explain since it makes things worse. Farewell and keep on rollin'.

Every since JMR used ASM in BC5 and beat me easily, Ive experimented with ASM understeer in GTMode races and it can yeild great results. It can make cars much faster upto 1 second a lap. Its definetly a nice little tweak to use in the correct circumstances. TCS still remains to be used only if you really really need it. Right at the last resort.

Cyril, I’m not having a go here mate, but I can understand why Ron was upset by your posted image. The image showed to members what only mods are privileged to see. For whatever reason Ron decided to use a board feature that enabled him some privacy (although fully aware that mods could see him), the posting of the image invaded this privacy. Whether you meant to or not this is what happened.

Edit:

Still running this on NTSC

21.013
41.415

1'07.103

NTSC kicks ass big time. :)

Im sorry to butt in guys but i think it should be put to bed now. If you can't be friend then you don't have to talk to each other and ignore what someone else says. If your lap is clean and there was no cheatting then your cool. Also its easy to take things the wrong way when its put into text, just keep on smiling :):):)

I didn't have to mess with the settings much, it drove fine to me. And I was using the DFP:D. I love driving with that because the cars just plane feel better. I don't like the force feed back though.:indiff:

Do you not drive a real car yet cos i do (check WRS's and there ride) and its nice to feel what the wheels are doing under me through the steering wheel. Maybe you will get use to it, each to there own ay;)

I've driven my dads Ford Truck, and loved it:D. But no, I'm not on the road yet:(.
I do know what you mean though, it's nothing like driving a real car though.
I'd drive a real car to driving in a game any day!:trouble:
