If you have run your race during this week then it is fine to submit. If it was run before you knew this race was coming (i.e. a saved lap you did while getting the licenses) then you need to re-run and achieve a new lap to submit 👍

Phew! I thought I may have to re-run my lap which I wouldn't be able to do in a hurry.

I've just read your post through again & it makes allot more sense. I always have to look at things twice before they start meaning anything to me :dunce:

Oh how I hate N tires:), anyways I tried this today and beat my first time by
.9 sec's:D(which was the day I got the game, 02/23/2005). I love it when I get
better at a game. I don't have my T's but I did get a 49:3xx at T2 so thats not too bad.

Gingiba
And NightmareHunter was the last woman to compete in the WRS

Well I would say girl because she is only 16, but I may get her into the WRS
again if there is a cars she like's(if only she wouldn't have a fit when she lose's:scared:).

, it wouldn't be so bad but she is using my DFP and i'm scared she might break it.

Righty-O, well I've had a lot of PM's and comments in regard to the submission of previously run laps and everyone would prefer that a new run was submitted this week...as this is everyone's comp and not mine I am more than happy to make the following alteration to the Race Details this week:

Week 83 Race Rules:
As we are doing a Licence Test this week there are no special rules, simply enter the licence test and save your best effort. NOTE: Your submitted lap must be a clean run performed during the time frame of this event. Previously saved laps are not to be submitted.

Thanks to GPKart who decided to do this anyway, I suspect everyone would have re-run anyway but this just makes it official 👍

NOTE: I will be checking GTRP at submission time to ensure there are no laps submitted that match previously run laps.

Board Updated

good to hear mate, an excellent decision, and by doing it people can hope to achieve even quicker times than they already had done in the past... :)

NOTE: Your submitted lap must be a clean run performed during the time frame of this event. Previously saved laps are not to be submitted.

I beat my previously recorded (at gtrp) gold time on my second go, so that was never an option anyway!

I then beat it again, but forgot to save it, and I've never been close to it again! D'oh!

I like it. It would prevent sending pre-run times, and since my previous one was a barely-silver, which would've been competitive in Div-5 (At best)..

Turns out good for me too, if Dan doesn't have a go I could be on track for my first ever win...That'd make a good week, a win in the cricket and the WRS (oops...am I speaking too soon SuperT :sly:)

you are only JUST in front of me so don't count those chickens too early champ...:sly:
I'm not known for tactful posts at 5:10am :p

only at 5:10am??? :sly:

so what happens the rest of the time...

Great times from the Div 2'ers this week. 👍

This slight improvement won't help me at all, but it looks a little better:

26.117
49.407

new splits. still got work to do tho ...

26.154 - 49.766

slow but addicting combo just like colby said.

Here's my latest splits. I had a couple of 25 T1's but they all came with rubbish T2's.

T1: 0'26.020
T2: 0'49.312

I'm having a real difficult time with this one.....

I've learned how to run 26 flat T1's fairly consistently with a periodic 25.9, but if it takes me as long to figure out the next two sectors....I'll be doing this way into the New Year.

My participation this week is therefore definitely questionable.....not the fault of this particular weeks selection, but more likely because my learning curve is starting to look more like a pretzel.:dunce:

I have a big problem if I need to submit a replay this week, my memory stick has stopped working. It's done this before & fixed itself about a month later but that's to late. Anyone who knows about USB connections please give me a tip on how to fix it.

EDIT: I've fixed it. Something must have got inside the USB.

Well here's a run through of how I'm doing it:
  • Start accelerating just after the 1 comes up during the countdown and move over to the far left as quickly as you can. During the whole race make sure you draft the pace car the whole way
  • Into the first corner, angle your way in from the far left and brake hard in a straight line just after you enter the corner and try to take the corner without the ASM and TCS kicking in too much, you shouldn't drop below 60km/h (37mph)
  • Stick in the pace car's draft and don't worry about upshifting into 3rd before this next corner, you may touch the rev limiter right before you brake but that's okay
  • For the hairpin you need to brake hard and late, you will come close to touching the pace car but should be okay. You should drop your speed down to no less than 50km/h (31mph), you need to stick very close to the inside of the corner.
  • The next corner you need to be half off the road before you turn in and also pointing straight down the road without angling off towards the dirt...there is much time to be made on this corner if you can avoid dropping your speed below 90km/h (56mph) You can use the inside rumble strip a bit to pull you around the corner. A tough corner though for sure.
  • For the next windy bit make sure to stay in the pace car's draft and you will change into third briefly before the next hairpin.
  • For the hairpin, you again need to brake late and may come close to hitting the pace car but it's not too tricky to avoid. You should brake down to no less than 50km/h (31mph) and on the exit try to keep it tight but without TCS and ASM going spastic.
  • Be sure to stick in the pace car's draft down the straight and set yourself up for a very wide entry into the next right-hand sweeper.
  • For the sweeper you should only need to brake a very little bit and the key here is to coast around the sweeper until your speed hit's 107km/h (66mph), you then gas it out (all done in third gear mind you) and you should have a scorching lap.
It's not easy to perfect but I found it highly addictive fighting for thousandths, hope this guide helps a bit 👍

Left me in the dust, did ya?

I'll be back! :trouble:

I see from your guide, Colby, that the Dunloop Sweeper is my nemesis. I can't get it right, not on this combo, and not on B16. It is what keeps me from golding that last B licence (B16). I got within 0.009 from gold, but that's still not it. Back ontopic: So yeah, I lifted there so far, and exited with TCS and ASM fighting for attention.

Hey, thanks for the turn by turn "Directions for Dummies", Mister Weary. You taught me several things I didn't know.....like drafting the Pace Car. I assumed it was like a ghost car for some reason, with no draft.:dunce:

The right-hander at Turn 6 is another area that I was apparently blowing it....and generally the same for the last right-hand sweeper. Okay..👍

So, I appreciate your helping us "lower lifeforms" to speed up our tranformation into aliens. Yeah, now, maybe Captain Kirk will give me back my 'Phaser' ..... if I promise to keep it on 'stun'....

For some reason I'm unable to come anywhere close to my times from the first session. I guess I'm trying too hard and ASM/TCS is killing the speed.

My 49.200 lap on the leaderboard has very slow finish (comparable to my 49.4x runs) but it sure is nice to enjoy sitting at the top :-)

P.S. - thanks Colby, thanks to your guide I've seen 49.1s and also improved my last sector (never on the same lap :-)

That's what happened to me, my times got slower and slower, and I eventually had to tone it down a whole lot just to come within .100 of my best time, let alone beat it, but I have time today to improve a bit, although I can take a few turns at higher speeds then MisterWeary indicated, maybe that's just the lowest speed you should take it.

Important Edit:
After an attempt at mimicing the pacecar's every move, I had an awesome run, I had more than I expected off the lap, and I'm just waiting for a tiny bit more to be shaved off the lap.
T1:25.890
T2:49.065

and I still feel a tiny bit left in it, watch out Div. 1!

I might go & have a few more runs but I'll have to set up my spare PS2 as I'm currently racing de la Sarthe 24h on A-Spec mode.

Well i started off with these splits on tuesday night

T1: 26.147
T2: 49.526

But then the next night i got

T1: 26.048
T2: 49.356

and two nights later i got this :)

T1: 25.906
T2: 49.148

But im still looking for .300 on the whole lap yet

(oops...am I speaking too soon SuperT :sly:)

Doesn't look like it on the cricket front at least. :grumpy:

I've not had any running on this since my first 3 lap session the other night, I've had some sort of infection in my right hand from a thorn or something which turned my hand into something out of the nutty professor films. All fixed now though so I'll get some laps in tonight, I've gotta get myself off the bottom of the board. :scared:

As predicted by Metar...;)
