GT40 SUPERCUP!

OK, this is the pre season race, just to get you ready for the season and see how good you are compared to every one else!

THE RACE!

The race will be a 5 lap race at Tokyo R-246(is that right?).

PM your times to me. They will be due on the 2nd of may...2004!:lol:


RULES

No hybrids.
2 wheel's on the track at all times, the rumble strip is part of the track.
Try and keep the race clean.
No power upgrades, except oil change.
Do not change the tyres if you are in the road car series.
You can use any tyres in the racing car series.
Before the race you must hop on one foot around in circles and say the alphabet backwards, then do the chicken dance.:lol:
Oh, and have fun...and if you don't! *Shakes fist*

R390 is actually the name of the Nissan blue LM car. The track is named Tokyo R-246 (well, if I remember it well). But actually everybody had understood what you mean.

Good track to have a tester on.

Remember to not save the game after you've put all the miles on the car. You can just write down the lap times to save losing HP for the real races.

I assume we are.

I'll have to make a nice settup then I'll put down some times. 10 days to get those times down.

So you just pick if you want the road car series or the race car series?
 
O.K. I'm running 1'31.xx's but I think I can go faster if I get a clean run. I think my settup is pretty good, can other post some of there times to see how we're all going.

Also I'm bored so I might get myself a Road Car too:)...
 
O.K. I'm now the proud new owner of a green GT40. Sign me up for the Road Car one aswell. SO we have to use the Medium tyres on the Road car? I'll get back on and mess with the settup later.
 
Alright then, I have got the road car to put down fairly consistant laps of 1'42.high 1'43.low with a 1'42.low being my best. I'll get some more miles down tommorow then I think I'll run the race the day after.

Road = 1'41.501

I cna Improve but I think they are pretty good times...I hope.
 
Since this is a 5 laps race, I had assumed that we were supposed to run a full race in 'free run, professional mode'.
Now that I'm reading the posts, it seems to me that we can 'simply' run in Practice with no opponent. This would actually make things easier, I'm wasting many seconds trying not to touch the others cars. Can someone confirm this ?
...then I would only have to try not to touch any wall in 5 laps, which is already a challenge... :lol:
All 5 laps races I did so far in Free run are not worth mentioning, I'm still around 8'13 and no race is 100% clean.
 
8'13....I should add mine up again that sounds awfully high. What are your lap times? Yeah, it's in free run.
 
Lap 1 in the 1'46 because of the start, laps 2 to 5 somewhere in the 1'33 / 1'36 area, most of the time spent trying not to bump into or get bumped by the AI cars.
That's indeed awfully high. I won't dare post any time for the pre-season race unless it's under 8'00.
Maybe I should consider hopping around on one foot, and doing the chicken dance :odd: Ought to be the trick...
 
And do it in free run. Are you doing road or racing? For Racing I think my time was somewhere around 7 minutes 2 seconds. I think the firs tlap and the AI are slowing you down. Especially considerring it is to be done in free run:).
 
That was with the the racing car. No ASM and TCS set on 1 not to lose another load of seconds burning the tyres.
I'll try the free run tonight. I'll start a new game in english though ; I play in french (because I'm a frenchman, not because I would be a masochist) and I think I'm confused in the terms.

I did some laps in free run, but that didn't improve my time much. 1'34 in the Race Car and 1'44 in the Road Car. I'm still slower in the turns than with the Lancer Evo...:banghead: and I still don't have a 100% clean turn. By the time I have one, it'll be slower than in a Mini :mad: :mad: :mad:
 
I haven't improved on my times this morning. Got close with a 1'30.875 but it doesn't beat my best time yet. And I can't get a consistant run like I did yesterday afternoon.
I'm running with no ASM or TCS, this car really doesn't need it. Your going from a flying start so you don't need grip off the line and the car can grip the turns fine.
I find the orad car a bit much though, it has considerably less power and it has some understeer that I can't get rid of without ruining the car.
I find these cars need early braking and acceleration before the apex on most turns. This may not be ideal bu I find it gives the cars the little bit of oversteer they need to get a quick exit. Also, don't be afraid to use the ripple strip with these things!

Im at 1.30 or so. I havent had a really dedicated session yet. The car just feels numb.


Ooops - I just read that we are having a 5 lap race for the qualifier. It doesnt really matter if we have 5 laps with AI or not I dont suppose cos we are just getting the feel of the car. Below 1.30 for the race car sems to be a "goal" ????

 
What's the point of having a race that's not a race? Why not just have a hotlap? The way this is, it's basically just 5 hotlaps put together.

Just too see how good you are against the other racers. I reckon it would be a waste of time doing 1 lap.:)
 
Well ,why not just have a 5 lap race somewhere then? If I do 10 laps, is my fastest 5 from 1-5 or was it 2-6 or was it 3-7 and so on.

The PS2 is perfectly capable of supplying a 5 lap race and it will add up the time for you. If you don't want AI in the way, (and I don't want the AI there), then pick a 5 lap arcade race somewhere with much slower/faster competition.

It isnt clear from the interest thread if its free run or an arcade mode race with other drivers. I think I would prefer the option that includes the AI.

But I say again - This is just the warm up race, theres no points to be won here, just practice with the car, thats all.

So for this particular event - 1 lap 5 laps AI etc etc its a warm up so I take it as we do whatever we want to as long as we get experience with the car. :D

 
1'30 is very possible but under 1'30 might be a bit hard. This event is just to get the "feel" for the cars but we also want to get a 'feel' for our competitors so that's why we have the 5 lap session, to see how consistant our opponant are or might be in future rounds. So do the five laps, add them up and then we'll see hopw we all rank up in the end.

Are we including a standing start or a fly-by start ???

That mean NO AI! And please be honest and don't just post your 5 best lap times. This is honour system and we should tell the truth!!!
 
Still can't get anything out of this GT40 Race Car. My average lap time is still around 1'34.5 (1'43.0 with the Road Car). And a clean run below 1'37.0 is a dream. :irked: I still have a few days to try and get something not ridiculous :banghead:

getting 5 quick laps together is the difficult part !!!

Its not too tight though around Tokyo !
 
Wow, after tonight's session (14 laps) my best with the Road Car is 1'41.597 with a series of 1'42 low laps around. That will make my 5 laps if I don't have time to improve by sunday. I just hope it helps to lap in the 1'30 with the Race Car...:O
 
Not really, my best run is a run of all 1'31.xxx, my run with the 1'30 was 5 seconds slower I think. So hitting 1'30 in the 5 laps isn't crucial. Though it would be nice:D.

[EDIT]I normally never run with the ghost but sometimes it can be helpful to load your best lap ghost to keep you on pace. Though I perform better when I'm chasing something so it might not work for you.[/EDIT]
